Stonewall Jackson's boyhood home was in Clarksburg, Va.(now West Virginia) Although the old log structure was razed many years ago photos still exist.

West Virginia seceded from Virginia because they did not hold with slavery, NOR with treason. THAT should be celebrated at this place. Good on all y’all who supported razing his birthplace. May we please salt the ground, now?

Probably not. They had to shut the gates of General Lee's tomb in the Lee chapel for fear that people would go in and vandalize it.

I have visited the homes of many people of American history including Washington and Madison and was always surprised by how sparse the furnishings were and how basic life was. I realize that we live in very different times and I was born in the early 1960s but just 100 years earlier we would have seemed excessive and probably semi wealthy and I spent a good many years growing up in church parsonages as my Grandfather was a preacher and spent considerable time raising me. Just amazing how times have changed. Thanks for the video.

During our DC tour last year, we went to Manassas, VA to see the First Battle of Bull Run National Park. I paid respect to the monument of Stonewall Jackson because I have so much admiration for this man. He was a good general and a good christian man who feared God.

The stairs to the front door were added as the street was significantly lowered because horse drawn carriages could not make the steep ascent. That according to the tour we took in 2016.

It’s important to remember history lest we repeat it . A lot of good men died in defense of their homes and liberty. The defense of their good name is now our duty

Not sure how you call 6 slaves as 'investing'. Two he purchased, at their request, one was his cook and the other her husband ; 3 were his wife's slaves brought with her into the marriage, her personal female servant and that woman's 2 young sons; and the 6th slave was a 4 year old girl (it is said she had some physical disabilities), the first two slaves requested he purchase so that she would not be sold away from her relatives in town.

Along with being a great leader and soldier, for his time, he was also famous for his dry and boring lectures at VMI. The Civil War made his personality.

I have read that Jackson was a "stern taskmaster" as an instructor. He was heavy on "memorization". That is not necessarily the best method for long term retention.

The left is taking over our country and here in Lexington Virginia the city council voted to change the name of the Stonewall Jackson cemetery. W&L Washington and Lee University is changing their name and VMI is making changes. It's sad.

We can not judge the past by today’s standards . It just ridiculous. Read and learn about history. God made the choice who the winning side was and let God be the judge of Confederacy. This is history !

02:15 - I'm puzzled by this. I visited the home about 18 years ago, and I could have sworn the guide said that the street had been significantly raised, blocking the first floor entrance that Jackson used, and the restorers found it necessary to create a new entrance on the next floor up. Did that actually happen during Jackson's life, or after?

Stonewall died fighting to preserve and expand African American slavery. Shot three times by his own men during a nighttime recon foray. Not much military skill demonstrated with that move. Good riddance!!

Thomas Jackson was loyal to his state as many of the other West Pointers of that era including Robert E. Lee. He was a religious man and made the ultimate sacerfice for what he believed in. R.I.P. Stonewall Jackson!
