I've come back again to say this truly works. I moisturised with heat during my last wash day, just had the easiest wash day with minimal shedding, minimal SSKs and my hair was super soft and so easy to detangle. I could have gone another week without moisturising with no issues (but we don't do that here anymore 😅) Thanks girl, you've cracked the code 💛🌻
Yes that’s how my behaves now as well. I started this journey the same time Coilydiaries either started or introduced this method to us. My hair is never dry, my wash days are easier because my hair just flows apart when I’m redoing my mini braids. This method works and has helped me to retain more length than I ever have. I am so thankful for this genius method. You have saved the natural hair community, especially type 4 hair. You’re appreciated ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes!! I’ve been doing this at least once a week the last 3 weeks and I just love it! Girl, you are making such an impact in these natural hair RU-vid streets! Thank you so much!! 🌺🥰💕
I just bought some Vegetable Glycerine at the health store. Coily, I tell you, I wish I had known this sooner! Thank you, I can't stop running my fingers through my hair. It is so soft, hydrated and silky - for days......
Yeah I'm going to incorporate this. Ive done the hydration method and my hair has been moisturized for over a week! So let's do this to see if we can get to two weeks! Ph bslanced Rosewater glycerin spray, growth oil for the scalp, chebe leave in conditioner, body heat to hydrate castor oil to seal the hydration then acv green tea low ph spritz to seal cuticle.
This routine is a game-changer even for low porosity hair with a few adjustments. Reminds me of Naturally Nica's routine and I think she uses aloe vera juice at the end to seal the cuticles. Aloe can be an alternative for anyone who is sensitive to acv being left in the hair i.e finer hair etc. Your hair is beautiful!
Vegetable glycerine is a game changer. I've been using products that have it in it and for years and now mix vegetable glycerine with my conditioners and leave in. Your hair is beautiful. No one needs to kill or come for you because you are doing what's best for your own hair 💯. We all have free will to choose. Thanks for sharing 🎉❤
I've finally understood the process 🎉. So this for me is the beginning of my mastering moisturizing & length retention challenge together as one😊. I slowly collected all the necessary products I will be using. I have 4c high density hair with lots of grey which is at shoulder length, & wanna see if within 1 year I can get to bra strap length (menopausal hormone issues aside 😅). Got my vegetable glycerin, made my ACV rinse, DIY scalp oil with essential oils, and got my castor oil. (even the double-side steam shower cap you recommended). My goal is to get to the point of washing every 3 weeks (coming from 2 wks), with no scalp issues. Doing it all with mini to midi twists, and dry detangling with no combs/brushes. Just ease & self-care. Thank you for all the videos & demonstrations 🌞
Very detailed. Thank you. I realized that I wasn't re-moisturizing after applying heat. No wonder the moisture in my hair only lasted a day or two. Excellent video🥰
I started using glycerin oil and water as a facial mask, and it kept my skin moisturized for days. Now I'm tempted to try it in my hair. That glycerin is a hard worker 😂
At first, when you started saying all the things you need to do, I thought , oh, never mind. But when you started taking your hair apart and handling it , oh my goodness. I want to do exactly what you're doing ❤.
It's been almost a month of me doing your recommended hydration routine and I've been fighting to keep my hands out of my hair because it's so soft! The results were immediate and I'm actually looking forward to my next wash day. My hair is currently in single braids, but I'm definitely moving to cornrows next so that I'm not tempted to keep touching it ☺ This routine is perfect for a lazy natural girl like me ❤
😮 i've been saying & saying for a while, why do videos that i see keep saying to spray your hair with water!¿! 😮 Why don't they know that tap water has chlorine, floride & has been drank (by 20 other people) & reprocessed with various chemicals! 🤮 Finally, someone else (you) got the memo! Yaaay!!! 💃🏽🙌🏽🤸🏽♂️ This was just common sense to me & i'm so thankful to you for sharing what else i can use instead of water. i've tried aloe, alkaline water & AC Vinegar water but didn't have any idea about the ratio's or frequency. 🤷🏽♂️ This video is a refreshing wealth of information for me! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🫂
Finally ! After over a decade, someone has finally said it. Water from the tap does not moisturise your hair. It actually dries it out. That is why your have to put all of the product on it after you spray it down with water. And water does not stop breakage, it causes more shrinkage, so there is no benefit to spraying your hair with water. A light bergamot will serve you better, finger detangle and very wide tooth comb. I was taking care of my natural 4C hair from childhood, and I am amazed at the nonsense people are doing with water and a bunch of expensive useless products.
I'm not sure why anyone would come for you. It's working for you and that is what matters. We all have to find what is best for our hair. For me and my hair, that method is a no-go but that doesn't make it less effective for you or anyone else that it works for. The Mielle Hair milk, or Camille Rose hair milk over a light leave-in is all I use if I'm not wearing a WnG. If I'm wearing a WnG then I use a leave-in and a foam or humectant gel. Since I shampoo my scalp every 3 - 4 days I wear my hair in a WnG much of the time otherwise I moisturise do a few twists and pin it up. I do not feel it is necessary to shampoo as frequently as I do. It is necessary for me currently. However previous to being diagnosed with CCCA, I shampooed weekly. It took me 6 years to get to TBL, and I am not trying to lose my hair to this stupid scalp disorder!
I wish I could do this but DIYs and raw oil irritate my scalp and I have to shampoo weekly. I agree with not using tap water. Tap water is full of chemicals and minerals that will dry out my hair. I spray my hair every day with a moisturizing hair mist such as the AS I AM Jamaican Black Castor Oil Water or KeraCare Curlessence Moisturizing Coco Water. I don't seal my hair because I apply moisture daily. I view it as self care just like brushing my teeth and washing my face.
New subbie! Your hair is absolutely beautiful! I have been natural for over 20 years , unfortunately covid and stylist using heat on my hair ( blow drying) my hair became severely damaged and for the past year I have been nursing my hair back to health. I'm going back to mini twists and doing my hair myself. Thank you for these great tips. Hopefully, I can get my hair back to the lenght it was previously the length you have.
I definitely agree with not using plain water and I have a conditioning spray that I use instead . It's great that you take time to get the right products into the hair . I wear my hair straightish(wash +blow) so I am curious to know how this routine would work when hair is not in a protective style . I have my own routine that works for me but I am intrigued. Keep up the great work !
this is very much protective style friendly. glycerin causes friz and shrinkage in large amounts try reduce the glycerin content or just use a glycerin rich leav in instead
I cant use glycerin on my scalp or on my skin as it clogs my pores over time and causes dandruff or pimples. But i can use it in products that i put on my hair. It keeps it moisturized longer.
@@CoilyDiaries It was a long time ago since I stopped using glycerin so my recollection may not be exact. Perhaps it took me a few weeks to start having clogged pores and pimples?
I tried my hardest to do a 3 month cornrow challenge but I did only 7 weeks because my new growth was so bad (in my opinion) and I got almost 2 inches of new growth thanks to glycerin. When I tell you it had me and my girls hair hydrated for days. I do a little regular conditioner, a little water, and a little glycerin. Game changer 😮
4B IS USUALLY LOW POROSITY. I have had many licensed stylist tell me and I have legit 4c and it's low porosity. Beautiful! When hair is long it's easy to do that. You also don't have super thick 4c hair in which product gets trapped in hair.
@@CoilyDiariesokay to you as well, cause your energy in that comment told me a lot, I won't be back. Low porosity is the hair type that has trouble retaining moisture, usually not naturally oily hair. Your comment is a common way our community respond to each when we teach eachother and don't like to be corrected.
@@ladybird491 I disagree. I have made many videos on why I think type 4 is high porosity. I have referenced research and my sources. Even stylists are divided on this. RU-vid is a free space and opinions and perspectives will vary.
You must have thick strands, because castor oil+twists=matting/locing for fine curly stands! I need to use grease once, after wash day, no need to reapply till next wash day 2 weeks after.
Beautiful hair. I really wish I could moisturize and manipulate my hair like this while it’s in twists, but my hair immediately frizzes up ☹️ I’ll have to try the glycerin water though. Thank you!
Hi Sis, thank you so much for the moidration video, I am curious about ACV, what is the purpose for it? Is it to close the hair cuticles and lock in that moisture?
You look so pretty. In Southern Africa, Clere glycerin is the easiest to find. Dont know if its vegetable glycerin or not, its written pure glycerin, there's no other ingredient written on the bottle. Is it good to use?
Greetings, thank you for the video. Menopause is doing a job on my hair. Where did you get thea particular brush if you got it from Amazon? Can you drop the link, please?
I have 4b low porosity hair. It's fine to medium density. It tangles easily. When I manipulate my twists like this, they either start to unravel or end up frizzy and tangled. But this moisture process definitely works well. Any advice for keeping my twists intact?
@@CoilyDiaries yes! Def gonna incorporate this hydration method! My hair is dry the next day after wash day…like dry dry so I need something new. Thank you!
Hi, I'm a new subscriber. I just stumbled on your video and loved it. Please can you tell me the particular type of glycerine you applied on your hair ? There are different types out there. A brand and name will be helpful. Thanks
Hey there. Thank you for sharing. Your hair is beautiful. I am on a healthcare journey and would love to use your method. Can you please share the name of the heat system. Is it a hoody attached to a dryer?. Thank you . I appreciate you.
@@CoilyDiaries I have normal to low porosity hair and your content works like magic for me. with low porosity hair can still use some of your routine just take out the heavy oils/butters and ACV, use lighter/liquid leave in/moisturizers and lighter oils so the hair won't get weighed down.
Would you recommend this routine after taking out your protective style and washing your hair? I would like to do this a week before I get my hair braided again.
I found vegetable glycerin oil in my health food store. Is that the same as vegetable glycerin. Since it said oil on the package, I wasn’t sure if this was something different. I looked at what you had in Amazon and it just said vegetable glycerin. But what I found in my health food store said vegetable Glycerin oil.
Hello, I make use of hair butter after my humectant spray, leave-in and light weight oil on my hair . Can I still make use of avc spray or I have to use castor oil to seal in order to use the avc spray. Lastly do you think I castor oil is way better than using a butter. Thanks.
you can still use ACV regardless but probably not as effective since the butter will really cover the hair. castor better than Shea? not necessarily it depends with the routine and how you are using it. both great sealants and I love them both! castor is just easier to wash and remoisturise 🌺
@@CoilyDiariesthanks so much for your reply. does this mean the butter has done the work of the avc. Is there any other way to incorporate avc ? Cause I know it helps with balancing the hair PH. I wash my hair every 2 weeks, although I wash my hair twice a month. On the first wash I wash my hair in protective style, then second wash I take down the protective style to have full access to my hair. Thanks
@@CoilyDiaries that means after I am done conditioning my hair I just use the apple cider spray then rinse it out, then go in with my humectant spray, leave- in nd the rest of the routine.
I’m confused. I thought high porosity hair has raised cuticles so does not need heat for moisture to enter. Heat is used to aide low porosity hair, no?
All hair benefits from moisturising with heat. Two weeks post wash means your cuticle is weighed down with creams and oils so heat will help lift the previously sealed cuticle. Heat aids in making products more liquid so they sip through the hair better. Hope this clears the air for you 🌺
Ok thanks for the tip bt my problem is that spray bottle my spray bottle is like your but it stop spraying out how can I open like to unlock to check in what cause water failing to spray out plzzzz 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Would love to see what a normal amount of shedding you get during wash day from take down of the twists & washing. Also wondering if you retwist your hair throughout the month?
