I need to stop the bermuda grass before it gets into my neighbors lawn. This is the last part of this lawn renovation before the ironcutter bermuda sprigs are put down. This video covers the steps I am taking with a root barrier and a new landscape be to help prevent and control the new bermudagass from spreading into my neighbors lawn. At this point in the lawn renovation I have killed, scalped, dethatch, aerated, and topdressed the lawn with sand. This is one of the steps I am taking on my journey to convert this part of my tall fescue lawn to IronCutter Bermuda lawn and I hope you enjoy it with me. This is part of a mini series where I am documenting this entire process. Leave a Comment, Like, and Subscribe if you like what a show on my channel. Thank you for your support!

Love how you’re going the extra mile for the neighbors. Any of the neighbors calling you crazy yet? Almost to the finish line of watering and waiting

Thank you. My neighbors have thought I've been crazy since we moved in so this is nothing new. Lol! 🤣

Great idea on stopping the bermuda from spreading. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Dumb question, but is sprigging similar to plugs for st aug?
@TheLawnGuardian

Sprigs are different from plugs. You can plug bermuda just like you do St. Aug. Sprigs are pieces of stolons, rhizomes, and crowns of the plant that you spread on top of the ground and then press them in. I should have the video about the sprigging process up today.

@@TheLawnGuardian thanks. Yeah I just watched a video the other day on the "lawn channel" . Came out great. I was surprised at how fast it filled in. Gonna be a fun transition to watch. Keep up the good work!

Personally, on the street side, I'd just put the root barrier up against the neighbors lawn (or something like a concrete edging) instead of having a small garden bed which sits in the middle of the street.

Do you need to rid all of the dead material when spriing or soding ?
@TheLawnGuardian

Not all of it but a decent amount. The first episode of this series shows that part of the process.

Wonder how long it will take for it to take over the back yard. Will you install root barrier on the side neighbors. So very interested in this project. Will be following next session as well. Thanks Ben

I'm curious about that as well. I plan to renovate the back at some point with Bermuda as well so yeah I'll be doing something similar to keep it constained.

I plan to try to do an update video before the end of the season. This RU-vid thing is a hobby of mine and lately more important things have taken priority. I appreciate you commenting and asking this question. Since sprigging, the grow in went really well. I have been posting more frequent updates on my Instagram account as it is much easier to post a picture of how things are doing there but I do still plan to try to make an update video before the end of the season. Thanks again for the support!

Why did you switch?

Several reasons but mostly because of the lower cost of maintenance.
