This is something that is so true. I grew up in a house where being compared to other people was the norm. It took a lot to change... Make sure you drill this into your step daughter... This is the best advice of the year. ..

Outstanding commentary Erin. Social media has a knack for showcasing the perfect life. I learned a long time ago that it could be a fairy tale or a deal with the damn devil. I look and keep it moving.
I needed this because I'm always comparing my life to my friends and wondering why they are in relationships and I'm not. I'm just starting to appreciate my life and realizing my life works for me and no one else.
My pastor gave a sermon this past Sunday..on how we beat and cut ourselves with doubt, jealously, gossip, etc....and instead of being thankful for what we have and acknowledge the talent thats already in us trying to burst out and shine. I have done this time and time again , I get my feet wet but if its too many people at the beach I just set and watch them have fun. But that's gonna change ......thank you sometimes we need to hear things more than once xo

This video is right on time!!! I'm so glad you are launching this great endeavor. I love how you pointed how we, all by ourselves say thinks like " we can't do this" or "it won't work if I do this" or " they won't accept me" all before we actually try. Almost like we stop ourselves from reaching our full potential. Thankfully last year was a year of prep and this year is a year of stepping out on faith and putting things into action. Awesome video! I think we all need this reminder. I have to constantly remind myself that social media, IG in particular, is all one big illusion. I've been there, As I've gotten older I now realize they may have the designer labels and come out acting like they don't have a worry in the world but behind closed doors all hell is breaking loose. Awesome words of wisdom. I knew there was a reason that I started watching you. I believe it was when I first started watching YT in 2007. I found you to be very real and uplifting. Like you said you can not go through life comparing yourself to others. A great deal of the time a lot of what is being portrayed is not necessarily real and there is always going to be someone who seemingly has more. You can't compete with those odds and quite frankly when you try to, you will be dimming your own light and not noticing the great things that you have done. Most people are comparing their beginning to someone else's middle. Which is usually self defeating. I wish you all the luck in your future endeavors. You keep doing you and you will get there. I understand the positive message Erin but comparison is something humans do because we are social. Seeing where other people are can be motivating and help you improve yourself. Of course obsessively and generally doing it is dangerous. Always keep focused on your path but also look around and see where the bar is set so you can improve.
Love the raw truth and complete transparency...And awesome message that we all need to hear or be reminded of....I love the idea of setting different alarms for encouragement or affirmation! Great video! I stopped doing this as well because most people who hate on you are either the following. 1.) Jealous of you. 2.)Or don't have the talent to do what we do so we should laugh at them like the hater peasants that they are lol. I will respond to this video as well.
