I've been using Photoshop on-and-off for 20+ years and never thought to use the brush blending modes to refine a mask like that. I seriously hate my life right now.

There is diference, when using the PS or anything for work, or personal projects, we just use it the way we learned and what gets job done, Umesh channel is dedicated to experiment and always find better way, so don't hate yourself, as to find all this tricks its not always *fast* imagine the time envolved into process of finding what is working the best way at any task with all the given options, it takes days, and goal is different from what people use the app for, but it is good we have this channel so we don't have to spend hours figuring what works and what not.

Is it really tho? When i started photoshop was this grand beast that took extensive knowledge to master. I understood thats why professionals were able to charge so much. Now its pretty much point and click and anybody can do it. Why pay professionals?

@@inkman002 In my opinion its in a state where if the average joe wanted to do basic edits with no graphic design skill they can, but it wont be near as good as what a professional could do. The learning curve is still very steep but not as much as it used to be.

I think it's good to learn multiple ways to cutout images as we will not always have access to the latest versions of photoshop everywhere (currently using cs6 version in my office) .

Another great tutorial and another useful tool to add to my repetoire. There's one thing tho' that I haven't seen anyone else do that perhaps you might address someday. That is - strategy. When given an initial photo we have to devise not only what we want to do but how we might efficiently accomplish it and, it what order. I sort of know What to do but, I get confused at the beginning as to how to organize the process. The Pix app helps but still....Just a thought. Thx Unmesh for the many great videos!.

Great tips!!! I do lots of sky replacements for realestate, and because it’s a dreary day, the houses look dreary, even though the sky is nice. How do I adjust the image so that the dreary (non-sky image) looks like a lively sun-lit day? I would love to see a tutorial on this! Thank you!

Hey Unmash, there's a little thing in your plugin that's been bothering me. Every time I reopen Photoshop, the plugin returns to its default interface, and I deactivate several tools that are not very useful to me. Can you resolve this as soon as you can? It's been a bit uncomfortable for me.

Good morning. I'm an 81 year old 'novice/enthusiast' and I've followed your tutorials for some time. I've just got your Compositing plug in to see if it will give me some benfits. I don't want to buy a lifetime subscription in case I find it not to my liking..can I sign up for a month by month subscription and cancel with no penalty if I find its not for me, or is there a commitment to, say, 12 months minimum? thansk a lot, but i am a medium user of photoshop , I see you can use curves to adjust alpha chanel (video time 3:12) isn't better than using brush tool to refine edges?

In this example, the brush is not used to refine edge but to fix the mask. Some of the area behind the tree is still showing through so refine edge would not work on it in this example.

Hair is always tricky. In principle, the same techniques apply, but if the background is busy you may find it mock more difficult to extract the subject. If you want to do edits like these it is best to do a bit of forward planning and shoot your subject in front of a studio backdrop which is well lit.

Honestly, Adobe should rename Photoshop to ImageWorx since all we're doing now with all of this compositing of imagery is creating photorealistic images. What we are left with are about as distant from being photographs as Russia is from being a democracy.
