I agree 100% on the healing process. It doesn't seem important at first, because after 5-6 months people believe they're getting better and can start to date again. I learned the hard way that healing is slow and never easy. I feel I'm lucky that my new partner waited for me to heal, got to know me better and then asked me to date. I will be forever grateful.

I honestly love this video & topic. I've been celibate and "cynical" when it comes to love. I love love and the idea of it but became cynical because of how men react to me once they find out I won't indulge in sexual activities with them and the trauma I endured over the past 12 years. It is so funny that as a young teen, I had such a healthy roadmap of all these things and knew exactly how a truly rewarding relationship would look and feel. I made way, way, way too many compromises over the years and fell into every last pitfall. Now, I am 49 and healing from major trauma after decades of having lived a life based on the wrong principles. I want to turn around to my 14year old self and tell her that she’s actually got it right and to not compromise on these things and to keep her standards high. This cannot be done, of course, so I am looking at my life and surprisingly enough, a lot of things did still work out for me. I live a pretty beautiful, abundant life with lots of opportunities. Opportunities I may not have had, had I not engaged with this lustful man for decades. Life is complex and hard to categorize. One thing I do know, though: I am coming all the way back to my former principles and values, no apologies about them. I get to pick up where 15year old me got lost in the turbulences of life. I get a second shot. I will not screw this up. It is a wonderful thing to see my values reflected in a mindful man, as for a while I had given up on males altogether. So glad to be assured now that good men do exist and they are out there creating content, influencing, or living a quiet, peaceful life away from the public, who’s to know for sure, right?
