They are the best. Only avail in slip on style though. Not avail for screw on type since all the "mechanism" is int he end where the male fitting goes.

I've had that first style on my tub since the house was built 39 years ago and never had an issue with it. It was installed by a good family friend that was a great plumber so I am guessing it was done right (not over tightened). If I ever need to replace it though I will opt for that newer style. My only complaint on the old style is that after all these years, it does not release on it's own (have to give it a slight tap and it will fall) I figure this is due to build up from our really hard water.

Yeah, all that calcium and build-up will do that for the diverter rod.. you can spray some vinegar up in there to help clear it out. Of course a whole home water treatment system will go a lot further in preserving your fixtures. Installed correctly and those spouts work fine, but probably 9 out of 10 that I replace are not installed correctly and damage the pipe. Good luck with your projects.
