The reason why people get so hype about grapplers is cus: A- in most fighting games, grapplers are almost always fighting uphill battles. High tier grapplers are definitely uncommon. B- brain like big move with big damage
The only high-tier grappler I can think of from any game I've played is Android 16 from Season 1 of FighterZ. And of course that was just cause he didn't have ANY downsides of most other grapplers.
+R Potemkin is a high-tier grappler and in a lot of match-ups, does not have a hard time getting in at all, he does not deserve the hype in this game unless he's fighting Justice or Bridget but I also have a personal grudge against Pot in this game because my character has a 3 to 7 match-up against him so maybe this is just my trauma talking
Theres just something more respectable and hype about somebody committing to a move that can be jump in punished compared to a button that can be special cancelled or something to be safe. Plus good grapplers should have a hard time getting in so they struggle in neutral. Grapplers will always be hype.
The chat will always root for the character that's the most gorilla brain at any given point in time. The only exception is when the underdog clause is in effect. Potemkin wins chat's favor both ways in this case
