In all honesty, this might not be right for you if you’re a hooker or slicer of the golf ball. I’m the latter and got prescribed a stronger grip to counteract my slice - and it WORKED. But, this is a great grip-tip video for just a standard neutral type of grip, or for newcomers to the game. 👍🏻 Also, playing in a pro am at Carus green soon. Great course. #BEEFY!!! 🥩
You are not going to believe this Golf Mates, I changed my grip for today’s round and I hit PB drive straight down the middle. 7 straight drives on front 9. Such a game changer THANK YOU!!!! “Chicken & Rice”
Lee what would be your advice for someone like me who use to play a fair bit of golf but has not picked a club up for around 5 years due to life and injuries getting in the way? I went to the range and shanked every shot having previously played off around 10-11?? Need help if you can!!?
If you have the shanks something soft like a head over at the top of the ball with enough distance to clear it then swing. It will stop the club going out to hit it off the hosel making you hit the face. Or swing and try hit the ball off the toe not centre. Hope these help. Most importantly take your time and have fun.
Good video, but could of covered different grips ie interlocking, baseball grip. Jack nicklaus used the interlocking grip so it's one to consider. Also what many pros never seem to cover and can cause so much inconsistent golf is letting go at the top, where the left hand comes away from the club.

Very good tips Lee. Grip pressure is very important so is how the club is held in the fingers and in relation to your pads of your hands. The tip on grip markings is good the only thing I don't agree with is the hand placement. Your demo is very good and standard but it certainly isn't for everyone just look at tour pros and some have strong or weak grips but yes it's a starting point. Thanks for your excellent tips please keep them coming mate.
another tip for your golf grip get a felt tip pen and mark 3 dots on the the first 3 knuckles of your golf glove then you no at every shot you have your alignment set up proper
Not a fan of these tips videos, nothing against Lee in fact I think he’s a good addition to the channel. It’s just that I don’t follow the channel for golf tips (if I wanted tips I’d watch Danny Maude etc), I follow the channel for its course flogs and money matches with the amusing banter etc
Slightly different guidance needed here, Golfmates. Thanks to this channel, I've got all golf mad after not playing for over 20 years, but what do golfers wear these days? I can't find jumpers anywhere. Not even Pringle ones. Do golfers not wear V-necked jumpers any more??
So you're prescient? Been wondering how to grip consistently--not to creep over to too strong. Been playing golf for #@%*&! years and I just learned to put my left thumb where my grip says to put my left thumb. Thanks Lee!
I used to really enjoy golf and laughs on the channel, its becoming an instructional channel and there are more of those than needed>. we need more OMP.Mr Barlow and so on, just my opinion
Doesn't hurt to have a few handy hints from time to time. We can still enjoy the crack with the lads when they go out on the course as well. Just my opinion.
Lee I use a reverse overlap. I’m right handed so my left index goes over my right pinky, I can’t get out of it, is it a grip your familiar with and should I correct it? ATM I don’t have an issue with it I hit low 90 high 80s at best Thx
Well done. Clear and precise instructions with simple graphics. I was given the toothpaste analogy 60 years ago by my club Pro at my first lesson. Sound advice is always sound advice
Lee - well stated and succinctly said. From scratch to high handicapper we all need to occasionally step back and fine tune our grip!!! Wonder how Mr B grips the club!!! 😁
Very simple and helpful. I've forwarded the link to my grandson who is about to have his first 9 holes of golf next week, but who has a slice on his shots at the driving range! Thanks Lee.
Another good tip video Lee, the check point of the V's are critical. I was also taught to have my V's pointing at my right shoulder as a righthanded golfer. I noticed that your left hand V is not as strong and is in a more neutral position. Is this something that you found to work better for you? Thanks again for posting and keep them coming!
Another top video sir. Clearly explained and easily to apply. These videos are great but what we all want is an 18 hole mate between Lennox Lee v banter barlow and Lee smashes bandit Barlow
@@GolfMates i do ind the strong grip uncomfortable, akward, feels like everything is tense. resrictive, but works for me, maybe vid on weak, normal and strong grip over next weeks,
Lee you are a natural teacher like me lol I tell my students the same things you did in this video!!!! I like to tell my students to do these grip thoughts facing your target line so as to get a better idea as to your grip will influence your swing path.
Another great informative video from lee ..I remember being told the toothpaste grip when I started . I was told if my glove wore on the thumb I gripped it to hard
Great video , well explained again.Wish I’d watched this before going to Tytherington today, had my backside slapped, tough track needed to be straighter!! Will use this video tomorrow as I’m playing solo, so have time to practice and go through the routine. Thanks Lee👍
So often through the years when my long game starts going "south" (or west or east through the forest, or by sea;-) ) I've found that adjustments in my grip are needed . We all get lazy with our grips after many years and many shots so a reminder video like this is very helpful. Lee is a channel star ....... such a calm smooth delivery!
Can one of the people who gave this a thumbs down please comment with their obviously superior knowledge on this subject.. I, for one, would be delighted to read about what they think Lee is doing wrong!
Good video lee and please hope Liam on camera doing is. Hope stop Liam moving he's lefted hand on club's when dressing to tee boxes or next to ball on tee and will stop push and pulls .
I have to disagree with this video, all players need to hold the grip which way suits there game, me personally I need to be slightly stronger grip which helps me keep it straight, but this has taken plenty of lessons over years to work this out,
Thank you so much lee. I reworked my grip using this video and realised my right hand was causing me a draw. Now I’m more consistent and hit a solid score yesterday on a tough course
I have heard the toothpaste analogy before but presumably with the cap or top taken off, meaning if you squeeze too tight then some toothpaste will be released from the tube.
This is the type of video I save. Any time I feel there is a problem with my swing I can refer back to this to put me right. Thanks Lee- you are a gem for this channel.
Love, love, love the new mix of golfing, silly golfing, personalities and now instructional videos! Very well rounded! I’m going to be thinking about the toothpaste tube when I grip my clubs tomorrow. Thank you Lee!
