In fact Marina doesn’t reach a reasonable level of competence in her English. It’s so sad she’s still trying to play a role of English teacher. She’s fooling over 7 millions followers about the unprofessional lessons on her channel. Thank you very much Kevin and Lisa.

Correct language learning is a very important thing for me. I would like to know about the mistakes that the teacher might accidentally teach me.Especially if these mistakes are repeated over and over again. Therefore, you are doing a really cool and useful thing. This is it, caring for the student. So, thank you a lot. Education is not only business and money, it is also a humane and responsible attitude, which Marina obviously does not have.

Alienating English learners by correcting the obvious mistakes of a very popular "English teacher"??? This is ridiculous. They aren't calling her names or mocking her, they're merely showing learners that she may not be the best person to follow for the most accurate lessons on English.
@LanguagewithChris
@LanguagewithChris Год назад
@@msmendes214 they're alienating the learners by the way they're doing this correction. They literally called her a fraud in the comments. If she is a fraud for saying that she's an English teacher and still making mistakes, so am I. By those standards, all people who make mistakes at anything, whether they're teaching or not, is a fraud. I don't want my students to succumb to this kind of toxic thinking. Do you make mistakes in your area of expertise? How would you feel if I meticulously documented every one of your mistakes and shared it with thr world to discredit you? This isn't right.
@msmendes214
@msmendes214 Год назад
@@LanguagewithChris This is just such a disingenuous take on these videos & these types of critiques. OF COURSE no one is perfect & everyone makes mistakes. I'm a 2nd language learner and know well how difficult it can be! But I also think she has never corrected her mistakes & admitted that some of her lessons are plain old wrong! I have seen *plenty* of other accounts doing these types of criticisms (ie "analyze the English/Chinese/etc of this RU-vid language teacher") and they are totally justified. As a language learner I would HATE to think I'm using a word/phrase accurately because of being taught it by a "teacher" only to be wrong & have to relearn it later, making it much more difficult. Marina has millions of followers between her multiple channels & this account is a small account... She sicced her followers here to attack them for plainly correcting her English, which is totally fair game. As far as "fraud"? Meh, she makes millions on her videos on these lessons, maybe she's not a fraud but I don't think she deserves to be wealthy off lessons that are questionable either.

Kevin and Lisa, your video is excellently done: - You have chosen the right pace for the learner (in other videos, I had to manually slow down the speed). - You have positioned the camera correctly, and your articulation is clearly visible. -You have set up the lighting in the frame very well, and you are clearly visible. -There is nothing distracting in the background, unlike other channels. -It's very important that you provide time for practice during the lesson, and you give enough time for it. (On other channels, I had to manually pause the video because the host provided half the time or no time at all for repetition.) -It's crucial that your lessons are interactive, as I mentioned earlier because it's important for the brain not only to load information but also to unload it. Information is retained only when it is unloaded from the brain. This is very important. -Special thanks for analyzing the mistakes of other English teachers. Plus, watching other people's mistakes greatly helps in self-learning. -I really like the ending of each of your videos - you speak at a normal, faster pace. And that's good because there is no new information in the closing. I get tired every time when the channel host says goodbye for a long time and slowly. -Special thanks for the absence of ads. I have subscribed to you, and I am already recommending you to my friends. A personal note - it's Saturday morning, and despite that, I'm here with you. Thank you for your work, friends.

And BTW I consider non-native speakers to be the best teachers. Because they have walked the same path. It's like you hire a manager that has just completed an MBA or your own worker who climbed up the ladder from a low rank position while working on the product. The latter has not just theoretical but practical knowledge. Marina is a great practical teacher for a lot of people. I'm sure she has done a lot of good with her videos. So she created a niche for herself and it's successful. Then people get to a certain level and their sources of information change. Obviously it's worth to perfect the nuances with a native speaker, this is a natural direction. But you have to get to the level of understanding this native speaker first and to the level of feeling confident enough to talk to him/her at the first place 😋 Learning a language is a never-ending process and one will proceed on noticing their mistakes at all levels. Also I find your hashtags to be disgusting and they expose your real intentions 🙃

Grammar may be boring, but it is very important. Now it's actually clear that she followed her own advice. Of course, vocabulary and phrases are also important, but grammar is the foundation. I think your videos are great not only because they educate people but also show that her “lessons” are fraud. She makes videos and makes the same mistakes over and over: articles, prepositions, etc. and it is not a problem to make a mistake, she creates content and earns money by selling it. and the point is it is not a presentation or an in person lesson when you can be nervous or forget something. She makes videos but she is too lazy to edit them, record them again, correct her speech, etc. all of this indicates that she really just wants to make money out of ESL learners and puts zero effort. And in real life what employers do with these kind of lazy workers-put them on a PIP or fire them! youtube can’t fire her, but other youtubers can.

I think you're too picky in correcting her accent too, it is clear that you have something against her. In English there are different accents, and for instance British speakers don't say "modern" with an "a". Also, I think that learning a language should be fun, which it is not if one is always pointing his finger against the others. I personally prefer Marina although she makes mistakes. English is not my mother tongue, but as you can see I'm able to communicate and convey my ideas. Do I make mistakes? Yes, but who cares. P.S. I also speak French and a bit of German and Spanish. She is good only because you can learn a lot of new vocabulary with her, her vocabulary is kind of catchy. But why doesn't she just analyze her videos before uploading... Like mistake with the worst is a1 level mistake. How did she even make it? Anyway it's so useful to analyze those mistakes. Russians are always struggling with a/the articles because we don't have it in Russian language. And when I watch her making this mistake I start thinking about my speech and how I forget to use articles...

I feel for Marina. But she has a teaching channel... She has to be careful when teaching other people a foreign language because people look up to her. When I watch these videos with all the correction I learn a lot. I am just like Marina. I speak English, but I'm not a native speaker, so it's really hard to keep it correctly. Sorry if there are any mistakes. Feel free to correct me. That's the way we learn!

I'm a non-native English speaker and, as an ESL educator, I understand the pressure to perform 100% of the time. We have to try twice as hard as native speakers to produce work half as good. Having said that, Marina's ESL content is way too sloppy. It's not videos of her just talking to her audience and making a few slip-ups here and there. She makes grammar and vocab videos with tons of A2 level mistakes. Things like that should be called out. In a polite and respectful way, of course.

@wkalifornijskimstylu-marta5138
I saw Marina's videos a couple of times and what I liked is how she got her American accent right while being native Russian speaker. Her accent is really impressive! Does she make mistakes? Of course it happens but I don't think she is trying to be an English guru. She's just teaching pronunciation. And while you guys pointed out many interesting mistakes, I wonder how many languages do u speak yourself? I would like to see a teacher who have tried to learn another language so he/she understands where others are coming from. For example,, many people just can't pronounce certain letters in the English alphabet and they will never sound "American enough" for folks like you. Just saying.
