The airplane operated flight LH683 from Hong Kong (HKG) to Frankfurt (FRA), Germany via Dubai (DXB). During the night takeoff from Hong Kong a malfunction of the No. 2 engine occurred, and the takeoff was subsequently rejected from a high speed. In the later stages of the deceleration the aircraft veered off the paved surface of the runway onto soft ground.

Stop. Can we take this time to appericate what Alec does? This is a 16 year old flight simulator, it's almost impossible to find add ons for it now. These videos are so hard to make, it's unimaginable. He must spend days working on these. And that's another point. Do you know how hard it is to recreate a crash perfectly in ANY Simulator? He must take multiple countless attempts. I have been on allecs path for 3.5 years now and I am not ashamed to say he taught me about aviation. These are well worked on. And that's another topic. Video editing. This probably caused tons of stress, you can't go against it. We can all agree that allec is a hard working man for our knowledge, and entertainment. Before anyone else steps up and says it, Thank you, allec.

The other good aviation accident analysis channel put up a video a few days ago about a similar V1 decision in which the pilot instantly elected to continue the takeoff. He made a safe landing with no injuries and no damage to the aircraft except for a blown tire and the engine that caught fire. There has been a lively discussion in the comments about whether the pilot should have rejected the takeoff, but Allec's new video shows that course of action can be worse than continuing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WxgZbW0hV30.html

@@hshs5756 The severity risk for an aborted takeoff is vastly lower than for taking off with a known defective aircraft. The FE should have made the call "bad engine 2" before changing throttle, but the pilot still made the right choice. Everybody survived in this incident; I would not have bet even odds if it had become airborne.

I think anyone who works with “bang bang” accidents like this, it is obvious that the high stress of the event caused the pilot to focus on what he thought was the most effective path. The problem that, with the stress of the subsequent investigation, anyone will selectively “remember” the most ego sparing solution. The pilot did what any of us would do with a “WTF” moment. It is better to look at the pilot’s statement, look at skid marks and FDR, and devise a training module that allows pilots to practice this event in a simulator. So, when this happens again, the pilot of the next plane will already have a more effective response “practiced” in his/her head

As for the flight engineer, if you're going to make an audible call-out that something's amiss - something that would obviously affect the pilots and their decision making at a critical moment during takeoff - you should probably make it something a bit more meaningful than "Hey - what's going on there" 😊

Allec, I absolutely LOVE your videos and I sincerely thank you for your interest, your hard work, and your dedication to this Channel. I hope that it is financially compensating you as the skill level needed is quite hight and you deserve to be compensated. I do have two questions, though this is not a new video, so you might not see this! But I'll give it a shot~! 1) Do you have plans to offer memberships? The option seems to be gaining popularity! I know for me, I love supporting Creators that have captured my interest..I currently have several memberships--& it's not that I expect anything at all SPECIAL because I am a member! NO, it's more about supporting those I appreciate, SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO DO THEIR THING!!! I don't know why YT is highlighting "special content" so much. ! I'd love to see MEMBERSHIPS OFFERED here! Even the badges and exclusive emojis could be interesting to come up with. I am aware you have a Patreon, which is awesome; I was suggesting YT because for one reason or another, there are many people that do not use Patreon & likely never will~so the more options, perhaps more people can participate! The ideal situation, in my opinion of course, might be $2.00 monthly memberships with 10% of your Subs joining! 23K subs/$2=$46K (approximately, people, don't come for me!) PER MONTH before fees & taxes, hovering at $1/2 million a year. You would be nice and comfy! 2) Have you considered narrating your videos? I ask because I so often want to watch your videos, but can't stop what I am doing completely, in order to read the screen on your video. So I end up playing it for the airplane sounds and music, but in the end I am always feeling let down! I usually "listen" 2-3 times before I can actually "watch and listen". SO NARRATION would be SO fantastic!

Love watching your channel. However, one request, at the end when you know a plane, is not going to slide off the runway (as an example), and it's going to be a pretty minor incident. Why does this big explosion sound every time have to happen?? Usually, when it's used, it's showing something that will startle you and your senses. This particular time, it was not required And, it didn't need it. Thanks for your time, and please, keep the videos coming!!! We really look forward to each new one that's cout!!
