@@jmm1817 Use your rinse and hold cycle. Don't have that cycle ..start a regular program let it fill wash and drain stop it . And reset . Or hold the cancel button.
Real world answer: if you don't pre rinse you'll clog the screens for the water pump inlet faster, so you'll have to wash those more frequently which takes time and water, not to mention the washer usually clogs and stops in the middle of a cycle.
Not true. Never ever prerinsed dishes and never ever clogged any drain pipe or dishwasher itself. Listen to video again, detergents works bettee with dirt so it wont clogg anything
@@bogdannb detergent helps clean by dislodging food particles from the dishware, it's pretty common sense. It's not a garbage disposal and it doesn't magically dissolve food particles. The more food you introduce, the more it will eventually wind up in the pump screen, and over time it will clog it faster. Next time you roll around in the mud throw your pants in the washing machine all full of mud without pre cleaning them and see what happens.
@@morejelloplease I didnt say you should put whole chicken inside, we are talking about NOT PRERINSING (sauces, bread crumbs, dissolving food particles)…. I own dishwashers for 20 years, I know whats good for dishwasher and what not😊 All my dishwashers look and smell cleaner than dishwashers from people who wash prerinsed dishes. That says enough
@@bogdannb so where do you draw the line as far as food particles - what size is acceptable for your machine? You've only been washing dishes for 20 years? I've had experience with 20 different machines. From g.e. whirlpool kitchenaid asko cove, the basic rule of thumb is if you put anything larger than a pinky tip in there it's going to wind up in the bottom of the machine, stuff doesn't magically dissolve. But it will break down OVER TIME, which again, it's not a food disposal, but will eventually clog the screens. Apartment maintenance gets calls often for dishwashers not draining properly. Why? They aren't pre rinsing! Hell people were putting fruits and vegetables including grapes etc in dishwashers to wash them of covid, guess what happened? Nothing. they all remained in tact. If you introduce food, it's going to clog faster, period. You do you, and look at the majority of the responses in this thread. everyone else is going to pre-rinse also. Cya!
It seems like a lot of people that view this video also do not have a newer washer and may not have a large enough family to justify running their dishwasher everyday. However there are numerous people that want to maintain a clean house, which involves running the dishwasher (regardless of whether it's full) at the end of the day. I personally don't run mine very often as a single person renting an apartment - partially because my dishwasher is likely 10 to 20 years old.
@@permafrost0979disagree with you there. Obviously scrape of excess food but no need to pre rinse these days and I’ve tested it on some pretty caked on things (not the best cook 😂)
@@bogdannb that's not true at all. It s not a matter of educating myself, it is a MATTER of having enough money to buy a good quality dishwasher. Wire me some money 💰 or shut up and respect who is poor like me and can only afford a crappy dishwasher that requires pre rinsing
@@brunobittar Didnt say you need “expensive” dishwasher, as there are crap expensive dishwashers. My dishwasher is not even expensive one🤦🏻🤦🏻🤣 my relatives have the cheapest dishwasher in market and that thing washes anything you put in too😁
We always rinse the dishes in the sink as soon as we are done with them. You would be surprised the pain it saves you and the dishwasher later trying to get the stuck on food off.
So in theory, you’re “double dipping” 😂 - so much water waste for a little work cleaning the filters. If only others adopted that approach there’d be less water waste in the world. (Such a 1st world problem) The newer machines, like what was mentioned allows the detergent/tablet to bind to the leftover bits on your plate and breaks them down much more efficiently. Obviously sweep off leftover food but dried sauces are not a problem at all. I’m no tree hugger, but let’s do our bit for the rapidly declining planet we have left.
@@SPS_survivoryou're right. Moreover, there's an additional consideration to be made: detergents are designed to attack dirt, and if they don't find any, over time they will consume the plastic and internal components of the washing machine.
@@Thinkableness There in a In closed compartment no bugs are coming if so they will be vaporized. Use your rinse only cycle. Thank of your dishwasher as a sink/closet . Stink and stuff is inside. After the program it's gone. Try it. ✋👍
Please don’t use dish washer pods, they’re way less effective then powdered dish detergent and way more expensive. Technology connections did an excellent video on how to properly use a dishwasher and how effective it is compared to using a sink.
Well my dishwasher is my beautiful hands I love washing dishes it keeps my arthritis in check and I love that nice hot water 💧 😋 and getting my dishes clean I seen people with dishwasher they have the nastiest kitchens 😅😂😂
@@lorecarabailey935 that’s awesome! Washing dishes can be cathartic after a long day :) just keep in mind how much water you’re using compared to a dishwasher
@@benniemorris4872And if you don't pre rinse your machines life is going to be much shorter thus ending up in a landfill. What's worse? Water or landfill?😂 I think the second. There is enough water. Also, some people shower long daily etc. If you don't do that it's fine.
@@RoxyCherryRozy I have never ever heard such a bs story before. The reason a dishwasher will break down, is not caused by not pre washing your dishes. There is a filter system in place, which will catch all the bigger particles, so the drain and pump will never clog. Grease and oil, will be solved up in the water and detergent solution, and won't cause blockages when rinse away with the hot water/detergent solution. the reason a dishwasher will stop functioning is because of electronics getting old. For example my own dishwasher, it's a Miele, it is from 1987 and it's now partly broken, but it still does it's job and I NEVER EVER have pre rinsed my dishes before throwing in the washer. There were even times, I've used it as a garbage can, and it ate everything. Talking about convenience. Just emptying and cleaning the filter, throw it back in, and all is fine. I have done the same with other more modern dishwashers too, while on vacation, and they also worked very fine, no problems at all. You probably live in the USA, here in Europe, appliances will not end up in a landfill but end up at a recycling station. Now, let's unload the dishwasher and start making dinner, it's already late enough! good luck with your new way of life, throwing everything in, without pre rinsing!
My dad says "It's not a dishwasher, it's a dish sanitizer". The dishes look the same before and after going through the dishwasher when he does dishes. He gets mad when we open the dishwasher too soon after it finishes because he wants the hot steam to continue sanitizing the dishes.
@@Dirty_Bear22 Believe me, I tell him he's wrong as often as I can but it falls on deaf ears. His dishwasher is literally falling apart because he used an enzymatic dishwasher detergent and since thr dishes are so clean going in the enzymes go to town on the dishwasher itself.
@@kamcorder3585 Some people never change I guess. Likely not even a product engineer will convince him. Not sure about enzymes degrading plastic or stainless steel though, other ingredients maybe. Realistically dishwashers wear down due to the mechanical nature of pumps, high heat, and thermal cycling.
Don’t throw some BS about the EPA recommendation. You should absolutely pre wash your dishes if you want to maximize the life of your dishwasher and not have a bunch of different repairs needed much earlier than normal
I just use a small scoop of OxiClean and I put one to two drops of liquid Cascade.... My dishes come out clean and my dishwasher smells fresh and clean
My sister doesn't rinse her dishes first and let me tell you, it isn't wise. There is a lot that a dishwasher can't reach. At least get all of the muck off the dishes before putting it in the washer. You don't even have to use soap.
I've seen so many people almost wash their dishes clean to put in dishwasher..makes no sense to me at all. If you're gonna do all that work, why not just wash it? I don't own or plan on owner one because I actually enjoy washing dishes.
If you can prewash, you can wash! Be productive, let your body and muscles work. Don't let the machines do everything for you. Your body needs physical activities to be healthy.
Most food will be broken up and just go down the drain, same as if you rinsed it in the sink. The filter is for bigger things, the washer is pretty good at breaking things down and it shouldn't make much difference.
Bull cough shi cough it. I wash dishes using an industrial machine and everything that goes in the machine gets pre-rinsed, silverware gets pre-soaked, and pots and pans still get washed by hand and need to be scrubbed. Try not pre- rinsing plates with dried on egg and cheese. Also, excessive food particles can clog your dish machine. Rinsing takes far less time than cleaning your machine.
@@Jennifer-sj6insweep excess food off of your plate (common sense) oops my bad, it’s 2023 - just sweep off actual food, don’t rinse and do your bit to save crazy water problems all over our own messed up planet! 🤦🏻♂️
@@Jennifer-sj6in Bas bad old fashion behavior. Go look at a dishwasher insides when washing . Pull it up here in you tube. Just try it one week. It's NOT a clever way of doing dishes it's actually makes things worse. Plus let it go in dirty and watch the magic. Maintenance is essential pre rinsed or not . I daily or 3 washes just un screw the filter brush reinstalled. It's easy. If you have other like a hard food disposal model then there's no need . Period. Can you tell me what make of your dishwasher..? 💧
If you don't prerinse, your washer will stink. The filter in the bottom gets covered in grease and fats and you can never really get it clean. I prerinse and run a washer cleaner every 30 cycles and my machine looks and smells brand new. If you're worried about water consumption, fill a small rinse tub with a gallon or two of water and wash everything in the same water, it's going into the dish washer anyway.
@@Ratatatata6809 The last time I checked dishwashers are not like automated car washes. Have you ever seen 1 damn dishwasher that had spinning scrubbing brushes actually contacting the all of the dishes? Nope… If you have what is it? Must cost a fortune. 🤣
Can I just point out, that most people do this because of the fact their dishwasher doesn’t clean the dishes properly without rinsing, also, this is assuming that the second I finish my dinner I’m going to put my dishes in and turn it on? Most people wait until it’s full, without rinsing would leave the food to go hard and stick to the plate more. Wise up
This isn't assuming any of that. Obviously shitty dishwashers exist, but most modern ones will clean old caked on shit just fine. The one big note here is that you actually need to use the soap designed for dishwashers, it's not arbitrary. I thought mine was shit until I stopped using a bit of dish soap and started using some of those dissolvable tabs intended for the job. Spotless every time.
This was a tactic from dishwasher manufacturers to get you to put dirty dishes in your dishwasher so your machine would get clogged or break and you would need to call for maintenance.
🤦🏻♂️ Its prerinsed dishes that kill a dishwasher. Detergents need dirt to work on and activate their enzymes. Without dirt they just suds up and cause mess (cloudy glasses, white streaks in dishwasher, dead heaters in no time…)
¿Where do you draw the line between washing washed dishes and putting a turkey inside there? Like i don't know you but people with common sense trow away the non eaten food before washing the dishes.
Except nowadays no one cares to repair anything, specially when *buying new can be more affordable.* So, basically they just want to sell brand new ones and throw away a machine that is a couple years old. *Talk about saving the planet.*
Guys always pre rinse them. Otherwise it will start smell overtime, also maintaining will be harder and more expensive overtime aswell. Believe me, I have tested both ways. Pre rinse overtime is much better.
My mom likes to pre-rinse them first, she uses alot of water and i just gave up telling her it wasnt worth to get a dishwasher if she almost cleans them in the sink, sometimes when i run the dishwasher i make sure there is not hard food remains and i just put them in and they come out perfect, our dishwasher is almost 3 years old and the filter was never filled with groos food remains, pump has never stuck...
How many times did they do it for each machine? In my apartment I called the maintenance guy to look at my machine, that I very rarely pre-washed dishes for like you suggest. He told me explicitly that I had to pre-wash or the machine would eventually clog and cause the problems I had.
I simply soak the dishes in the kitchen sink with a couple of lemon slices thrown into the water. Scrape off any sticky leftovers right before putting the dishes in the washer
Our high-end dishwasher absolutely refuses to get rid of lemon particles in iced tea glasses if dried. They also won't remove egg yolk if dried. And dishes WILL dry if you don't use the dishwasher every day. This video is baloney.
It depends. If you have it running every day, it‘s fine. But they usually start smelling on the second day and some foods really cling to the dishes once dried.
The people that are *so worried* about the planet must all be *vegetarians.* ‘Cause talking about some drops of water, when compared to the rivers used to produce meat, would *ridiculous.*
Then don't put garbage in it? Nobody is saying you shouldn't remove solid chunks of food, just no need to rinse. We don't even have garbage disposals here, just apply the same reasoning as what you'd put down your kitchen drain.
Well you have to wash them more than a couple of weeks to see what would happen, it’s good for the first couple of days, the problem isn’t the it gets clogged right away, it doesn’t, but it can get clogged if there’s excess dirt after a certain amount of time.
Oh no you need to rinse your dishes/cups before washing them. Some people think once they start the dishwasher, bunch of cleaners show up and start scrubbing each piece to make it clean and shiny! You could get that dishwasher clogged or something damaged in it, why risk that?
This is bologna! Unless you want to keep cleaning out the strainer and dealing with a clogged drain line. The drain line is only a 3/4 in. hose going to the sink trap it doesn't take much to clog it up
Or just plug the sink and half fill it with water and throw the dirty dishes in that sink and when you wash it the loose food particles sauces and oils will no stick to the utensils
What is prewash? I mean you could’ve just washed it completely and skip dishwasher altogether? You’re literally 10% percent away from washing the dish completely? WHY? 😢😊😂
To wash your dishes! These pre-washers and pre-rinse folks are to ignorant and stupid to figure it out! This is they they're ruining their racks! QUIT IT!
Hmmm, I'm failing to see the point of owning a dishwasher if you still have to "pre-treat" everything you put into it. Theyre expensive to buy, use a lot of electricity and water, maintenance etc, it feels like all of that isnt "worth it" anymore if pre rinsing is required anyway. I mean it seems kinda dumb cleaning a dish like almost clean and then putting it in the washer
I love watching people complain about their dishwasher not working because it's filled with funk and gunk... ooo there's something wrong with it! Yeah your dishwasher isn't meant to scrub its meant to sanitize...
Yeah not rinsing or thoroughly scraping your plate just means all the food rots in that moist, dark environment, 👍👍👍 put a a swab under a microscope see what you see not to mention what you're eating off of 'clean' plates😢
Pre-rinsers coping in the comments 🤣 🤣 🤣 "but my dishwasher will clog" 🤣 "My house will stink" 🤣 "It's conspiracy by the appliance manufacturers to make you buy warranties/charge you for repairs/buy new machines" 🤣
I can tell you this. I work in HORECA. I own a cheap Beko at home and a Siemens at work. At work often dishes aren't rinsed. I do rinse mine at home. My machine ends up working much longer and smells better.
