Older eggs are easier to peel when boiled. You know an egg is rotten if it floats in a bowl of water. Fresh eggs sink, old eggs stand up straight, rotten eggs float. Love your videos!!!thank you❤️🍏🍅
FREEZING BREAD HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!! ... My bread used to always go moldy before I could finish it, and I really hate throwing food away. You'll NEVER have to throw another moldy loaf of bread away again! I encourage you all to try freezing your bread, it really does keep its fresh texture! Especially if you toast it a little!
My Darling Bobby, You are a life saver!!! Watching on our smart TV, hubby insists on specific foods now!! Organic, and watching oils. We were using all the wrong "ingredients". A few dollars more we are already doing better!! Inflammations are going by the way side...limited ingredients. I don't think I will ever be able to Thank You Enough!! Thank you for my newly created health monster!! Been trying for decades and you did it in four shows...💖💖💖💖 We are seniors who LOVE you kids!! Thank you!! 😊
My sister came up with freezing her avocados. She was looking for the frozen avocados at Costco and could never find them. Light bulb moment, I can freeze them myself. Flash freeze them, put them into a plastic bag and you have avocados for your smoothies etc. I had to throw out so many avocados because of over ripeness, not anymore. The avocados don’t discolor when frozen.
That is what I thought about the Costco frozen avocados. Honestly when prepped at home they taste a little better. They still add nutrients and creaminess to your to you smoothies and it is better than tossing them. 😀
EGGS!!!! Bobby, I raise chickens, and a great way to know if an egg is good or bad. Put it in a glass of water so you can easily see if it sinks. SINKING - GOOD!!!! Teetering on the bottom - eat soon. FLOATERS - BAD!!! Just thought this is a great way to always know without having to crack open a stinky egg.
The best part of going to a supermarket is always look for discount chicken and meat. I love when I can store a good savings. The best time is always during the week late afternoon or evening... Weekends rarely see discount meat or chicken.
I got sick as a dog on discounted Walmart steak from west Melbourne Florida. Never, ever bought meat there again. Went back a few days later with receipt, was laughed at “well it was on sale!” Didn’t even get the value of steak returned, really just wanted to warn dept that food was bad, maybe change policy on sale items. Never ever again.
@@hollyhopalong7405 I used to know woman that worked at walmart she never bout her meat there. She and her husband said it looked pale they went to a different store for their meat
@@hollyhopalong7405 They do that at my store but it is a small town with the best meat cutter in the valley, it could have been bad before it went on sale. Like when they cut and wrapped it. Our meat cutter is extremely careful. Cold and freezing does not kill bacteria and a butcher friend told me that.
My oldest daughter is the same way. She won't even keep wine around. She once had some wine that was two days old and had been refrigerated and she told me I'd better drink it or she was going to throw it out the next day. I did.
A lot of employees do not rotate their products so all the newer items r sold before the older ones which ends up in their dumpsters! U would be saddened and shocked about all the food that ends up in the dumpsters!!
I do that with berries so that the ones on the bottom don't collect all the moisture. I just flipped them over once or twice a day and they don't usually get the fuzzies before I eat them up.
I used to do the same with hot dog and hamburger buns. I prefer them toasted anyway, so I just toss them in the oven or AF on a low temp to toast while I work on the burger or whatever. Just need to check them every couple of minutes. Before keto for me, but I know not everyone here is keto so someone may find this handy.
Bobbie we love 💘u. My ex is suffering from type 2 diabetes. That makes him low self esteem. He swap his white rice into brown rice. We will follow ur genuine advice. Great even telling us how to wash off arsenic from rice. We need to respect 🙏our fragile mother nature. If we respect universe everything turn around positive and all the living beings will be fruitful.
@@vahidm6119 I worked at a store if you remember Hickory Farms? We had a lot of different cheese and that’s how we kept the mold in control and it doesn’t affect the cheeses taste and it actually prevents mold from growing back! That’s what I was taught selling hundreds of cheese
Hi Bobby and Brad! Good Morning! Really glad your doing a video on this since. Its really important with so much money being spent on food and when you toss away food your basically tossing away money. Thanks again and have a great day!
My sister and I love your videos! When food shopping together, we will say to each other don’t get that is “not Bobby approved!” 😃 keep the great work. Glad you moved to Florida away from the cold Windy City.
Lol I don't believe the dried spices dates. They say to use it in a couple months and buy more only to make you BUY MORE lol I've used spices 2 years past their date and opening date and they tasted the same as when I bought it
in Europe sell-by dates are mandatory by law and were introduced in Marks & Spencer's storerooms in the 1950s before making their way on to the shelves in 1970 - it wasn't even actually called a "sell-by-date" until 1973 - in the United States, federal law requires only that infant formula be 'sell by' dated but many states (including mine) have similar regulations/laws for products like milk, eggs and meat -
Me & my daughter frequently & purposely ‘test’ the use/sell by dates on food. We have eaten unopened yogurts up-to a year out of date and they have tasted exactly the same. We are currently testing for 15 months out of date. No adverse tummy effects either. Unless it looks bad or smells bad it’s ok to eat!
My local grocery store has a bunker cooler where they put meat that 'expires' the next day. They slash the price sometimes as much as 60%-75% off. I will load up on steaks, and instead of paying $14.00 to $20.00 per pound, I can get away with $5.00 to $9.00 per pound. When I get home, I season them well and then vacuum seal and date them. Then they go into my freezer until needed. I'll slack out what I need for the next 2-3 days, fire up my sous vide unit, and soon I have a great meal that didn't cost an arm and a leg.
as Bobby said most food dates by the manufacturer are used to keep the product 'moving' - however in our present time of 'prepper' stocking up knowing how long foods will really last is important - in the United States, federal law requires only that infant formula be 'sell by' dated but many states (including mine) have similar regulations/laws for products like milk, eggs and meat - so it's good to know how long you have after that 'sell by/best by' date to safely consume -
@@mothershelper1981 fake account that was replying to everyone pretending to be Bobby and trying to get folk to use a WhatsApp account - Bobby stomped him/her - lol
@@battles146 thanks, I'm glad they were removed. I hope they were reported to RU-vid also since that would blatantly violate Community guidelines. Not too long after I watched this video I was watching a video by a lady who teaches people how to paint pretty pictures and she was evidently having the exact same problem. I wonder if it was the same same person. They were saying things like ugliest painting I ever saw and this makes me sick Etc. Probably some kid with nothing better to do or maybe just a mean-spirited person.
our grocery don't pay cash, it is consignment. the supplier fulls out near expiry and they recycle it. some expired food will be sold cheap to small store, it is expired for a long time. The content is bad, some resto buys expired too. the cans are swollen n rusty.
6:26 My grandmother used to do that trick with Cheddar, but as my uncle said. Not a good idea if there’s someone in the home allergic to penicillin. Just FYI.
My supermarket often has the happy eggs at $1.99 because they are close to the sell by date. I go crazy when I see that and buy like 6 packs since we use so many eggs at home.
Wow thanks for your teachings, 7th thousandth year begins soon so Trubulation we will need this information to endure hard times! May YEHOVAH bless all of you!
more videos like this please! I buy whole spices when I can and crush them in my mortar/pestle as needed - keep them in a darken place away from heat and moisture (stove/sink) keep tightly closed glass is better than plastic - even whole spices/dried herbs will lose their essential oils over a period of time so buy in quantities you use as needed -
We buy expired food at a grocery store that specializes in expired. 85%lean Hamburger $1.00. Jimmy Dean sausage hot or sage $1.00 We freeze it . No produce there. Cereal post $1.50 del Monte apricots 303 can 75 cents peaches 75 cents.
Tip for everyone that likes cabbage. Wash your cabbage in a 50/50 water/vinegar mix. Don't not have to soak it but make sure the outside is fully cleaned. I kept my cabbage up to 4 months in the refrig this way.
What I don't understand is the labels that say, Cows are grass fed, all cows are geass fed. We but organic farm raised beef, and the owner from the farm said its all about how they are " finished out" on grain or full grass. ?
I know someone who bought canned peaches - she opened the can and it looked terrible - very washed out and grayish looking and soft - she put it on some ice cream and served it to us - I said did you look at the date on the can and she said no - she had just bought it - I thought stores were more careful about leaving old stock on the shelf - she said she would look at the date from then on
A Really good way to verify if eggs are not good is if you put a raw egg that is in its shell in water that allows the egg room in the water to float, if the egg floats off the bottom of the container it is not good and throw it away. 🙂
not quite true - if fresh it will lay on its side on the bottom - as it ages it will begin to stand upright but still good to eat - but if it floats to the top it has gone bad and discard it - burying it in your garden is good for your plants 🙂
@@JesusFreakJene - Never crack your eggs into your mixture ... crack it in a small bowl to be sure the yolk doesn’t break or smell bad and then dump it into the batter. My late mother swore by this and she was a fantastic cook💕
I taught myself to grow herbs to cook with, best thing I ever did. I’ve fresh herbs whenever I want and my garlic is home grown as most of my veggies and ,berries are. Love you videos god bless
If I find that there is a spot of mold on bread I cut that all away then cube and toast (dehydrate) the bread for use in stuffing, bread crumbs etc. You can do the same before mold shows up...dont forget can season cubes with your desired taste
Goods like alcohol , milk and oil etc. only get better with age. Some goods can be cleaned or refined and repackaged for future use and sold at a lower price to charity groups.
This video has me looking forward to this year’s ‘Hurricane Season Haul’ video (Welcome to FL, FlavCity). I start restocking my hurricane food supplies shopping at the mid/end of July and being aware of the product dates is very important.
I buy my bread at a surplus bakery. Basically bread goes there after the sell by date. I buy over 50$ worth for 10$. I keep it the freezer. Works great! All types of bread. Even the organic healthy ones.
I love my dehydrator for that. If fruits and vegetables are getting close to expiring and I don't have time to eat them, I dehydrate them to use later.
If you want to stop cutting away good cheese, wrap remainder on vinegar soaked paper towel or cheese cloth and put in air right container. I have eaten yogurt many months after all by date and tinned goods even a decade after i have bought them. If the tin is not blown it is ok. I keep spices in freezer and flavor stays good for years. I kinda like that people think it goes bad because the super market is always knocking down prices by50-75% and i scoop up great bargains. I will freeze avocados when they are reduced. Freezer full of berries. Trying not to eat too much meat but can't turn down beef tenderloin when masked down-or lamb. Freezer cream cheese. Cannot freeze yogurt unless you just use it in smoothies as it has a granular texture. Using my boss and my eyes has kept me and my family from ever having food poisoning -and i am 64 and running half marathons on no meds.
I don’t think what you said about milk is true.. once you open milk it definitely does not last until the sell by date. I have made that mistake many times.
I noticed if I keep my milk on the top near the air blower it lasts twice as long as putting it in the door. Learned milk has to be kept just near freezing.
@@whyistheskyblue5515 I do actually always keep it pretty cold by keeping it towards the back of the fridge but sometimes it accidentally freezes and it throws the texture off. Thanks for the tip tho!
@@whyistheskyblue5515 I’ve noticed that too. I always keep my milk on the top shelf and once opened, it last almost a week after the date. Sometimes with my boys it doesn’t even make it nowhere near the date lol
Thank you Bobby for the heads up. For the Gluten free pasta keep it in plastic containers that will keep the air out of it and the dust out of it and if you keep it put into zip lock bags in the plastic containers your really safe!!!! Happy days!!!
I found that I cen keep eggs for several months with no problems and have been doing that for years.. I have been freezing bread for the past 60 years and have never had to deal with moldy bread. Actually, I no longer buy bread at the store as it becomes Glucose just like traditional pasta does which is bad for you.
I spent 10 years in meat packing. I would not be afraid to keep the vacuum packed beef and chicken shown as much as two weeks past the use by date. However, once the seal is broken, and oxygen gets to the meat, I would use it within 1 to 2 days. Meat that is not vacuum packed should be used by the "use by date," unless you are brave.
I worked in biotech over 2 decades, and i explained to my relatives and friends that expiration day on medicine and foods calculated for not ideal conditions, it is done for the consumers safety. Just in case if the person kept the product hours at room T instead of refrigerator, or his “ room T” is 100F or higher without AC, or the meds were left on sun when it’s said “keep in dark bottle” ... Sometimes I buy meats on huge discounts for our dog. Especially when I see that her coat is dry and dull, 2 weeks on raw meats make her fur look shiny and healthy! And it is much cheaper than to buy special dog food 😉 I do the same with meats and cheese that were “forgotten” in our fridge, it happens sometimes when I buy too much, often when go shopping on empty stomach 🤦🏻♀️
That's exactly where my bread goes in the coldest part of the refrigerator or freezer, lasts for months in the fridge and many more in the freezer. It's plenty fresh to my tastes and zero waste.
Thanks for this. I did my first foodbank haul today and some products were past the current date. For example quinoa and mayonaise. I keep my bread in the freezer and only take a certain amount of slices out when needed. Keeps good forever. Yesterday we ate bad broccoli and both got an explosive....number 2. Don't do that.
That is bc of our Government regulations... we need regulations but it is mainly bc of greedy people and corrupt lawyers. They have to throw it away so the store does not get sued. Government regulations have to be black and white with no grey area. It is also cheaper to throw it away and write it of than to sell it for a loss. Why can't they make a tax-cut if they give it to the homeless shelters? Again Government regulates beyond measure and bc of them, we have waste.
I've eaten cottage cheese and yogurt 3 weeks past expiration. Clotted cream lasts a long time as does organic goat milk. Ive heard of using colloidal silver to extend the expiration date.
Thanks for the video! Just sent it to my boyfriend who has been stocking for the possible apocalypse. I also enjoyed the meat special segment. I buy discounted proteins when on sale and immediately put them in the freezer for fear that they will be unusable if I don’t .
Your comment about smoked paprika being your all-time favorite spice caught my attention. Could you tell us why? Maybe I'll have to start using mine more often.
I bought some of the best olives I have ever had from a discount grocery store for 50 cents! They came in foil, packed in olive oil. It was a box full of several small packs. The whole box was only 50 cents! I bought all they had. We ate from them for about 2 years. A friend of mine, who is Greek, even thought they were good! We alway buy out of date items whenever we can. Usually, it’s the top of the line Brand names that we are able to get, too. Of course, we always read labels and get the healthy items. We have even dumpster dove at a store just up from my parents house. We got fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, red onions, bananas, etc. All good. People waste so much food!
Yes, when he said "don't put bread in the fridge" I was "wtf"... If I don't put the bread in the fridge, the next day it will be way worse than fresh. After 2-3 days max it will go bad, it will be moldy and sticky. But if I keep it in the fridge (not in the freezer), it will be good even after one week. Sure, it won't be the same, but it won't be bad. So I think that was bad info that he gave, I don't know why...
At my work, the "expired" food is given to the employees in the staff fridge. There's so much food that I've even given it to friends and they've given it to their friends. It's absurd. We have enough food to feed everyone in the entire planet but most stores are greedy as fuck.
Eggs can be checked by filling a pot of cold water. If the egg floats it’s got bad gas, yuck! 🤢 if it sinks it’s healthy and yummy 😋 . I rare free range chickens/ducks🦆🐥🐔 if you find eggs under a ditch and all over the place, you’ve got to check every time. Ducks are the funniest pet you’ll ever own and they love cartoons on the TV and a sleep overs in your bathtub 🛀 no messing.
The expiration date on protein powder is for the flavoring more than anything. The protein itself is fine way beyond the expiration date, just might not taste as good.
Well, in my case I was almost admitted in the hospital for eaten eggs that were 2 weeks expired. I didn't know because I already thrown away where the date was written. It's dangerous!
Love you, Bobby....you rocked the hat!!! I am following your advice on food purchases and other tips...thank you so much! These comments have been Krys-approved!
