As soon as I walk into my job , my stomach hurts. There is a lady that she spends every 30 minutes in the supervisors office, she gossips all day long . She’s smile at me but she’s a double face. Those are the worst.

I work as a cleaner at work, and I see dozens of people from the nursing supervisor to the office worker to the labs who ate these 7 jerks in spades. It cause a me to shut down but at the end of my day, if I can say to myself, you rock ,Mo! You did a great job, I feel good.

Pretty much every job I’ve ever had, had the one person who always gave me a hard time. Most of the time, I think it was because I didn’t vibe well with them. They didn’t like I didn’t want to be friends with them. I can’t wait to start the video, I’d love to see the results!

Also, the worst one is always HR, which encourages and enables the jerk culture in every corporate America I know. HR is THE worst troublemaker and then act like your bestie, then backstab yet again, then your bestie again, then repeat endlessly! I also think this is American culture because I have worked in other countries and I didn't experience anything so extreme as this in those countries.

I have seen a lot of kiss up kick, kick downers in every organisation wether it's at work, gym or church. I used to think maybe it only happens to me but now I know better. Thank you Vanessa, this was really insightful. 🙏🏾

I also think this is "normal" American culture because I have lived and worked in other parts of the world and I did not experience anything so extreme as what's happening in corporate America on a daily basis. Additionally, in some countries, the minute they hear I am American, they kept a distance from me, as they know that Americans = backstabbers! OMG! I am so used to be surrounded by backstabbers in America that it has become a "normal" way of life in this country! LOL

I certainly will buy this book. Ive dealt with ass co workers for years. Got sick and tired of this one supervisor at work I rarely interact with and she kept kicking down for no reason. I eventually told a manager about her toxicness and got her demoted. I learned she quit months later.

I dealt with this social comparison my entire career, even in the police world. These ppl are super jealous of competent & better looking employees. Sounds superficial but it’s true. They micro manage & never encourage you, only point out ur one little mistake.
@yannip2083
@yannip2083 2 года назад
TOTALLY AGREED! I even parked my car in the next block to avoid super jealousy amongst folks in my workplace. Some are so super awfully jealous of those who are better than them, to the point of constant backstabbing attempting to jeopardize/remove you! It is seriously extremely bad in corporate America.

Of the short descriptions I've read about from Tessa's book, guessing I fall into the "Neglectful Bosses" category. I tend to put things off, or not give something too much attention, because my anxiety over things going wrong gets to me. Then, the tension builds to a head until something breaks (or I do). Thank you for this conversation. Will dive into this more, for sure!

Magnificent person reading this… The truth is you are confident and good enough already with who you are, where you are at and what you have right now to have the success you want in life. Don't let others define what “success” is for you. Get up, learn that skill and go after it! I believe in you so much! Have an awesome day! 🌟- Love, Nat ❤️

There is lots of free riders and my default is trying to control everything when I am overwhelmed and anxious and this is something I learned from a child. It was my way of protecting myself from harm from my abusive family

What if your boss is aware of the toxic co-worker, relies heavily on their expertise to help them always look good to higher up’s? The boss doesn’t care and ignores the rude behavior at the expense of others. The toxicity is ongoing and deplorable. The boss is not held accountable because his boss is completely unaware.

I recently left my job because I was tired of the toxic environment. I was being gaslighted by a coworker. The thing said in the video that reminded me of the situation was constant having to keep in mind that they can go off or do something at any moment. I was very anxious and I had headaches everyday. I talked to my director & she ended up believing the toxic coworker and what she created to make me look bad. Eventually, my director started ignoring me and going to the toxic coworker for questions. I felt really bad and ended up leaving the job. I mentioned everything during my exit interview with HR. As upset as they were with the situation and the HR person pointing to the sign that “harassment, disrespect” is not allowed within coworkers, nothing was ever done.

My jerk at work passes off work onto me and makes it look like I dropped the ball on the task. I just needed to point out that you can’t assign a task that was given two years ago on your project when I just joined the team 6 months ago. I just said in an e-mail “Nope.”

Kiss up/kick down starts with kids acting nice to teachers/adults and mean to peers. And just keeps going. I wonder how this could be adjusted to school age kids to stop this early

I loved this interview a lot. I have a question. She said that Strong people deal with difficult people and do not complain? How do you deal with them? Is it not important to state your boundaries to such people if such people disrespect you or try to harm your reputation?

what are the solutions for non-office enviroments with toxic coworkers?
@Anniel67

I could definitely identify with having a cognitive free rider. She’s not in my group but she works the least amongst her coworkers, chatting all day and making the lunch plans. She also asks her coworkers to jot things down for her when she could do it herself. She’s getting away with it which I guess she’s doing a great job free loading.
@ScienceOfPeople

@Anniel67

@@ScienceOfPeople they’re not but I sit with them unfortunately. The group talks all day long, sighs out loud, plays YT videos out loud to share with each other. Basically they’re very inappropriate and get away with it. But thanks for this wonderful video, I totally understand all these toxic traits in them.

Sadly, I work with a lady like this. She is very good, out going with all the ones up high. She is in charge of the building keys, and will open drawers in my area just because she holds all the keys. I find this very disrespectfully. If someone wants to use the phone she takes them to my desk instead of hers. Yes, I looking for another job. I just feel that I do not want to give my boss any more worries. They have enough to deal with, so I rather leave.
