I experienced dry and damaged skin barrier last year and trust me it wasn't due to the overuse of actives. Actually quite the opposite as I didn't know much about skincare. Using the himalaya neem face wash or straight up alkaline soaps to clean my face (as I thought the tight dry feeling after meant it was working on oil control), followed by smearing lacto calamine whenever I used to breakout. I never moisturised unless in winters there was some aloe Vera gel that my mom got from otc. Trust me even not doing the basics correctly can lead to compromised skin barrier (not only overexfoliation) . I was extremely oily and shiny with some dry patches, the skin on my nose started to peel, I was breaking out like I've never before and it was dehydrated.

Hey what did you use to repair your skin again?
@sanskritibarman4928
@sanskritibarman4928 2 года назад
@@akshatashetty8564 Basically give it some time as your skin has amazing repairing properties followed by avoiding the products that agitated the epidermis to the point that the barrier is damaged like I stopped using all those products. Best you can do is follow a basic ctm routine with no actives whatsoever unless it's in low concentration and benefits the skin barrier (like niacinamide and ceramides). Other botanical ingredients that help is centella asiatica, colloidal oatmeal, propolis, green tea etc. Last is to apply sunscreen diligently and ideally (it helps protecting from further damage caused by sun). For me a good sunscreen and niacinamide along with a proper step for moisturising the skin was enough.

Someone finally said it. You eat food, your body can absorb nutrients. If you really want something go for actives that really make a visible change - I chose retinol because it is key to graceful aging. Add some hydration to the skincare along with it, and voila done. Good skincare should not require too many things. Just minimal simple stuff. Your skin can only absorb till a certain extend. Rest is not required. Cleanser + formularx barrier + retinol and let skin breathe on a few nights by just putting down a simple moisturiser that's all. Till the time your diet is decent, you are going to be fine.

Now i try to follow one in one our rule. Also can you please suggest one product which will take care of breakouts which happens occasionally. Salicylic acid facewash or its serum will work?

I saw many youtubers they use too much products at one time, but still their skin is so beautiful but when I used too much, my skin can't handle. But in 2021 I only use 4 products, (1) cleanser(fragrance free) according to my skin type, (if I do heavy makeup or light makeup, I do double cleanse, otherwise one cleanser is enough for me) (2) tretinoin 0.025%(only at night, 3 or 4 times at a week) (3) one basic fragrance free moisturizer ( I use tretinoin so I don't use other actives) (4) Sunscreen (everday) Now I understand, simple is more effective then too much products. *I only use indian skincare brands, I don't think we have to use Korean(they have their perfect genetic skin) skincare products for beautiful skin [Perfect skin doesn't exist].

Profound!! I wanted to ask.. I keep my exfoliation restricted to wash off treatments like a facewash. Can I use that every night bcs that's on my face only for about 30 sec or should I do it alternatively. Earlier when I had active acne my dermat told me to use it every night and it helped honestly. Otherwise there's only one serum per routine not more than four steps- morning it's reequil sap10 ( vit c plus niacinamide) and night it's deconstruct PAG.

You are right on exfoliation. I have burned my skin. I did exfoliate my skin 2 times in a week and one night what I did I applied salicylic acid on my face for whole night next morning I got burned skin. Now I am exfoliating 1 times in a week but I am planning to reduce it more. Now as u suggested I will exfoliate in a month. And also now I am not using lactic acid and salicylic acid. I am using minimalist pha toner for 1 hour. Because I have watched video on it they say it is mild but I don't think It is mild. Now I will use that toner for max 10 minutes. And I reduced active also because of burning my focus is on ceramide moisturizers and believe me it is working.
@rishubansal186
@rishubansal186 2 года назад
This is exactly what I think when I see any layering your skincare video. Its your skin not a canvas. Stop confusing it with unnecessary products. People need to understand that all these actives are meant to treat certain skin disorders. You dont need alpha arbutin if you dont have pigmentation and no vitamin c serum is going to make you fairer. Since 2 or 3 years my skin had been doing well...no pimple, no pigmentation just some large pores so I incorporated 10% niacinamide serum in my routine which eventually damaged my skin barrier; something that had never happened to me before. I know I should have started with lower percentage. My skincare routine now is a good cleanser, moisturiser with 4% niacinamide in it and a sunscreen and healthy food.

Thanks a lot your video was so helpful. Now lemme share my experience of layering actives. So that day I did chemical exfoliatiation with salysilic acid from minimalist and then applied naimax d gel which has niacinamide 5% Later on I got horrible breakouts 🥺 I searched about it and came to know that the PH level of salysilic acid is low and niacinamide is too high. Using niacinamide after salysilic acid can make it less effective. Idk if the info os right or wrong but after then , I started using if seperately and my skin was much better.

Hi aboli, I am ur regular follower ..i just had a query.. my skin is dry sensitive type and i had absolutely no skin issues as such.. but since I turned 30 i felt like i should do some skincare. Earlier i used to apply moisturizer and sunscreen. However seeing so many people reviewing serums.. i thought and bought niacinamide 10% by minilamalist .. i used it for 2 months and my skin has become textured.. :( I earlier had textured skin.. but it was not permanent. I stopped using it. And bought hyauronic acid.. i thought what could possibly go wrong.. used it as per instruction..topped with moisturizer i felt my skin has become more dry.. Got lactic acid 5% from deconstruct i used it only twice.. but now i have stopped using everything completely.. I dont know what went wrong. .. :( what n how should i use these products..

Try not to mix retinol with any other active. Even if it's mild niacinamide. Retinol is practically turning your skin over, and other things might be too much to handle. All you need with retinol is hydration, and repairing skin barrier - basically ceramide. Everything else is almost taken care by retinol, why unnecessary complicate things.
