WAIT, so wise glasses doesnt increase your mons special attack BY 7%???? It was my assumption that it added special attack value before move scaling calculations... EDIT: We actually tested this just now and the item in fact does work how I expected. It raises your SP by the flat amount on the glasses, then increases the SP value by 7% and THEN the scaling calculation takes effect. So wise glasses is still fine, its not useless it just gets outscaled by specs because specs provides a higher SP value with a condition of scoring 6 times.
The takeaway of this video has always been: "If you run Wise glasses for a little extra pump you could really be running anything else and get more value in the end"
The unite-db wording opened this up for misinterpretation, but wise glasses actually gives you a 7% sp atk increase prior to the damage calculation (after adding the flat stat). Tested this with mr mime and gengar and the math checks out.
Yeah, I've been feeling that wise glasses wasn't doing anything for me, finally I can swap wise glasses with energy amp on my cramorant with no back thoughts

Use it. Still good. That little bit of damage could still make all the difference. Just build other solid items too. Like I don't care what anybody ever says about Shell Bell, I will use it if only because the tiny heal has saved me countless times and the cooldowns probably have too, even if it adds no damage. I often pair it with Wise Glasses then go Focus Band for laning or Buddy Barrier if a better fit.
even in gengar the math with wise glasses is a little weird, he is one of the only characters with high SpA% in his moves, but that's because his SpA is a lot worse than most offensive special attackers

I concur, anyone that can use wise glasses will do more damage throughout a game with muscle band instead, I wanna see a 15% increase at level 20 tbh, maybe more, I think buddy barrier is "broken" but I like how much it changes gameplay, so I wanna see wise glasses be brought up to that level
@@Peekmp yeah, honestly, even muscle band should get a buff, I like that buddy barrier is the way it is, but I wanna see more variety across pokemon, muscle band at 5% current hp at 20 would be a good start, 20% total SpA increase on wise glasses, she'll bell having no cd and base 7% cdr at 20 and 9.5% at 30, focus band healing 15% missing per tick, rocky helmet either doing 12% max hp or 15% current hp once per out of combat(4 seconds instead of 8) idk I feel like I've got so many ideas for what they could do to switch it up, but instead they seem to be going with the "we'll nerf/buff it all when the season is over" idea. I just hope they decide to majorly buff the majority and maybe tune buddy barrier to do a 30% of your hp to yourself, and 35% of YOUR hp to an ally, making it a better on tanks and not as impactful for a carry to take
I also feel bad, I mean I upgraded them to level 20 too! TiMi doesn't give us damage formulas for anything, so all these numbers are just now starting to become available to us due to research from the Mathcord. Without them, we wouldn't know the Special Attack abilities have HORRENDOUS scaling and that it's useless to build SpAtk

I’ve actually been running a focus band muscle band attack weight goal getter lucario jg set up and for soloq carrying it’s been working really well. Especially for the zapdos steal. My bad if this comment came out like an attack it was more of a meme and at least we have the data now
The big brain person that's me runs SpAtk Specs not for increased damage, but for scaling utility spells on supports. I would argue SpAtk Specs are actually super good on Eldegoss because the increased value you get from healing and shields is ACTUALLY worth it since it's not contingent on attacking opponents to create value for your team. As a side benefit, better last hitting with Leaf Tornado and Unite move is a thing, but Cotton Guard after SpAtk stacks makes a noticeable difference. My build is EXP Share, Score Shield, and SpAtk Specs to clarify.
its a good point you are making, my issue tho, that in many games, using cram or ninetales for instance, i don't get to score that much, even less soloq that sometimes the team is just not there, and to start reaping the benefits of specs you gotta score 2/3 goals and above. Perhaps with a score shield it could be a good pair of items. Regardless i still think wise glasses are useful.
Muscle band/score shield, Buddy barrier and energy amp is probably a better choice for cram, switching out wise glasses for either muscle band or score shield just helps you out more during the match imo
It is 7% special attack increase, not just damage, the spreadsheet shows that. But because of the scaling it’s still not very good. However I think it actually is good on eldegoss because it increases her healing by like 200 hp and she can get that off on multiple players. Plus it makes her boosted auto cotton passive do more damage, so when stacked with muscle band it does significant more damage if you’re going to be an auto bot
Using wise glasses in Wigglytuff is actually crazy. Way better than muscle band from the damage output. I'm surprised it's so bad, I'm not even sure what to swap it with, already tried her with muscle band but it was meh.
Yeah Wise Glasses kinda suck. They're good on specific pokemon with good scaling values on their moves, but for any Poke without good Sp.Atk scaling it's a waste of an item slot. Discovered that just in practice mode.
It's just that Wise Glasses offer a safer alternative so you don't need threaten your life to get the useful stacks. The table he shows bases on levels is a good place to start. A few content creators have noted that it's not even important getting kills or scoring until objectives so Sp. Atk. Specs really need to play catch up if you're playing higher ranks anyway.
For me Muscle ban, focus band and Scope are the best items. Wise Glasses I use it in Gardevoir and Eldegoss and is alright. Buddy barrier still leveling up :(
The more I learn about the held items I feel only 4-5 are worth using at all. I hate that I upgraded (now) useless items but the ranking/season rewards look like a nice amount of tickets to upgrade new stuff.
Until they buff the other items, yeah... unfortunately the core 4 of muscle band, focus band, buddy barrier, and score shield are basically all that's good (and sometimes energy amp)
I tested out the Shell Bell and this is the formula for the healing it provides at Level 20 HP recovery = 0.45 x Sp Atk stat + 75 On special attackers like pikachu, venusaur, gardevoir and ninetales this translates to 3.2% HP recovery at Lv 1 to 8.2% at Lv 15. Given that on an average, you can be recovering about 5% HP every 8 seconds throughout the game and also get 3% move cooldown reduction, does it make it viable ?
@@frankpaciulli6800 I hope the existing sp atk items get buffed and more be introduced. Shell bell does have 8s cd which is also typical to that of moves. And you can indeed get HP by landing moves both on wild pokemon and enemy. But I see your point, little HP gain on squishy attackers won't make that much of a difference while the HP gain on bulky ones are negligible because of their low sp Atk, making this item subpar.
@@frankpaciulli6800 So true , especially for free to play players. One can get 3 of these items to Lv 20 in just 15 days or all 4 in a month with minimum grind and reach master rank easily by using them on just any character.
I'm not so sure really... According to the spreadsheet every character needs at least 2 goals for it to break even which isn't always possible. Especially if you're not ALSO running Score Shield which is kinda a restriction to your build. And then later on in the game you need more and more goals scored, which is even less a thing when your energy-to-dunk is rising, death timers are still short and the opponents have a launch pad to defend with.
The numbers really illustrate how bad special attack scaling is for almost all Pokemon though. So the real tea is that Special Attack is a pointless stat to boost, and going Muscle Band or Score Shield will definitely benefit most characters a lot more throughout a match
This is true for SOME pokemon. Mr. Mime, gengar benefit from these items. It works better with some pokemon than others. Some pokemon have fixed damage like gardevoir. You can raise her special attack stat.
I really have no idea why people thought fluffy tail applies with your team but then again the game is bad at telling you stuff like it just says “increases damage done to that Pokémon”
I wish there was a breakdown for every item from you! I play an aggressive healing Eldegoss. Lots of Sp Attack gives me the heals I need. If I wanted to create a mean Eldegoss, would a good choice of items be Sp Att specs, muscle band, and Buddy Barrier? (Buddy barrier just to get rid of the squishy) or maybe score shield for the HP boost and score protection to stack my Specs?
I'll do a fully updated item guide once we see the new items that get added during the big mobile update today! Eldegoss really benefits from Muscle Band and Buddy Barrier, so I think those are just a given. I personally like Score Shield for a lot of Pokemon, but if you really wanted to increase your heals, you COULD run Specs or Wise Glasses if you think you will benefit from it. If not, though, Focus Band to just stay alive and keep healing your team maybe
wise glasses still has its use like on gangar or mr. mime since they have higher modifier value and as a gardevoir main it is also useful on gardevoir but only if you're specifically runing energy amp and using psyshock instead of future site or in short you're running a nuke build, and you aren't going to run any of the stackg items because you're not going to score until late game or if you're running gold getter/score shield
@@luminen4051 it works but how the combo for the nuke combo works is that you use either psychic/moonblast first to keep them in place > ult > psyshock > psychic/moonblast if it's off cooldown to finish the reason you want it on with a psyshock instead of future sight is due to energy amp boost only last 4 sec and future sight has a 2 sec startup before being active and a 1 sec delay on it's + version to reset that only leaves you under 1 sec to re-aim before the en amp buff wares off not to mention that once gardevoir ult ends it will knock back enemies which means you will more likely have no target for future sight if you are at max range on the other hand psyshock + has an incremental return on your damage for each hit and from games I've played it feels that psyshock will snapshot any buff that it has on when cast it still works with with future sight but specifically if you want to maximize on its used with the glass canon nuke build, use psyshock that said future sight+ will have a higher DPS with wise glasses if you're not relying on energy amp + ult casting against enemies units but that requires you to hit each and every cast

Nah, muscle band is good because attack speed and also the passive is ridiculously strong. Still top 4 items in the game with buddy barrier, focus band, and score shield. Even on Special Attack damage dealers, Muscle Band works great because it's percentage damage regardless of auto attack type

No worries-imo the best build for Eldegoss is Buddy Barrier, Focus Band, and then either Muscle Band or Score Shield. Focus Band is super important on Eldegoss because the longer you’re alive = the more healing and shielding and support you can give your teammates Muscle Band actually does serious work on Eldegoss and especially complements any kind of range character (such as Eldegoss!)
@@Peekmp I heavily disagree with Focus Band on Eldegoss because you generally have enough range to pick and choose fights, and Leaf Tornado also makes it really hard to gank Eldegoss in general. If you're dying a lot you're not playing right in the first place. Buddy Barrier also is wasted on Eldegoss when you typically don't Ult more than twice a game. Eldegoss Ult also is literally so broken that every teamfight should actually be over or disengaged whenever you Ult, which makes extra shields pointless. Who needs them when you knock the entire enemy team away or do a 0 counterplay pickoff? I don't need shields to win a teamfight that is already won or freely disengaged from. Muscle Band is good but falls off lategame especially when other teammates run that item. I personally recommend EXP Share, Score Shield, SpAtk Specs for maximum mid to lategame utility. Leaf Tornado/Unite last hits as well as the increased shields/healing are better than simply hitting people with Muscle Band procs.
Why the fuck are these item descriptions so convoluted and nonintuitive?! I'm about to run muscle band, buddy barrier, score shield on everyone just because we can actually see the atk speed increase and shields
I hate that all the RU-vidrs are saying attack weight is bad lol Try max damage (muscle band / attack weight / scope lens & goal-getter) on Cinderace, Machamp, absol, or garchomp then tell me it's bad lol Goal getter = easy points = easy attack weight boosts + exp = easy kills = easy wins
Hey! :D Not sure exactly what issues you're experiencing with the loudness, but if I go into the sound analysis when I right-click the video, the sound levels are pretty much the same (and actually louder in some cases) than a lot of Unite youtubers and other ones I watch. I had a sound issue for one particular video a couple months back, but I don't see the levels being off here... Sorry about that--let me know what device you're watching on and maybe that will help me figure out what it might be!
Wise Glasses and Special Attack Specs are both bad items and don't do nearly as much as the core 4 items muscle band, focus band, buddy barrier, and score shield
