How to store ammo for long term. There are only 2 things to consider after you have a quality container. Temperature and Moisture. How much Ammo Do you need for shtf? Storing ammo for SHTF.
Hey thanks for watching! Traditionally I would agree. Those buckets are small, floppy and don’t stack. Also lots of wasted space in round containers. Other than that. Yes!
@@stevesmith917 the white rem buckets only go about 2 maybe 3 high, the lids are soft and they are not stable. Also round things waste space of a shelf.
A thousand rounds per gun? I've got this stockpiling beat! As for . 22 I've 4k in CCI Blazer alone. Bought em back in 2015 when they cost 2.49 a box of 50. Miss those days.
Anytime you say numbers people get all weird. But from my perspective, advising people, 1000 per gun is a good number. Many of us shoot too much for that to be a good number but people can build on that as a base minimum.
I use a heat gun to remove that sticker. I've never had one remove cleanly like that. Maybe they recently changed the glue. I quit buying them from HF because of the aggressive glue they used on the label.
@@EagleRun23 How much do they cost by you? They are around $17/can over by me, and that's a price I'll never pay. I do have a bunch from when they could be had for under $10/can, and they seem to work as good as the old US cans.
@@shojus I bought a few extras this last time when they were on sale. I did a video on that. Maybe last fall? I don’t recall the price but ya $17 is a pass.
Your best bet is to vacuum seal the ammo with a silica gel pack before putting in an ammo box and storing it inside. I've got ammo from the 80s that I vacuum sealed back then and stired in my closet and it's still like brand new. And you don't need to stock up 2 million rounds of anything for shtf two or three ammo boxes is sufficient for an absolute shtf situation.
A bucket of 22lr. And here in Spain you can only buy boxes up to 50 bullets, more expensive and with a limit of how many you can buy. The gun control laws here are absurd and don't make any sense 99% of the time. Enjoy your freedom over there guys, I wish we had the same
22 long rifle will save your hide.if you have to bug out,22 ammo is good for hunting small game like spruce chicken or squirrels or tree roosting birds.22 ammo if nothing else will get you meat.plus I wouldn't want to get shot by 22 long rifle ammo.its cheap it doesn't kick.people might laugh at you but it will come in handy.
I have been shooting 22lr for 45 years. I know what the little round can do. So, in my opinion, let them laugh. Us old dogs will make believers out of them. I don’t live in a city so I really don’t need an AR. I live in BFE we’re nobody really wants to go. If SHTF happens, stay out of the cities because people will get stupid. Beside, us country boys will sit in a tree all day long just to wait for something to shoot at. A good ole 22 is good enough for that.
@@J-Bones87 ok I have a bunch of AK mags that I’d like to use but I never found an 80% lower with those. Always sold out. Wish I had one now that 80’s are blown up.
@@EagleRun23 Palmetto State ks47 lower is a AR15 lower that takes AK mags and can put a stander ar upper chambered in 7.62x39, and grid defense has some standered 80% lowers on sale
@@J-Bones87 yes that was PSA! Forgot where I saw those. I always hoped for an 80% one but never found any. The 80% thing is over in 48 hours with those new laws. Maybe I can print one at some point.
He stored his box of hollow points in my pj drawer. Now I can't get the smell out the drawer. I washed the clothes and put them back and again they smell like gun powder. I think it's in the wood, but febreeze, vinegar , charcoal has not worked. Any suggestions?
thats wild, I am a reloader and deal with raw gunpowder all the time, I have never noticed and my wife has never mentioned it. One box of just 25 bullets did that?
Yes. Two clips were loaded and placed in the drawer. I can wash the clothes and remove the smell. If I place back in the drawer the items smell absorb the smell again. It is wild.
Those Remington .22s are the worst ammo Ive used. For slightly more I got the Fed Automatch, it works in all my .22 firearms not some of them. 22LR is a great caliber to store, considering how much it's gone up in price. I whine and cry when l get a brick of my hunting ammo 60gr SSS Aguila 120 for 500, 1 brick a year along with a few bricks of Automatch for plinking. Doing that means I'm slowly building my stash up.
Just buy ammo... If you live in a house, and not in the woods, or on a raft on the ocean, nothing you do to your ammo will extend it's life expectancy. Ammo doesn't go bad, no matter how much RU-vid videos want to tell you, unless it's wet or hot cold/hot cold. ...you also don't need desiccants. If it's that "moist" inside your home, you've got more things to worry about than ammo.
Stocking up at these prices is real dumb, even if on sale! If you are just starting out you are late to the game. Bad timing 🤣. Wait until people start getting laid off here in the next 6 months and prices on everything else continue to skyrocket. Ammo will get cheaper because the need will go down. All of the gun shops in my area are packed with ammo. Best prices in a year but still to high. People have less money to spend right now. That will only get worse. I would say wait if you plan on stacking. If you need to get a box to go plinking or because you just got a new gun, cool. But stacking at these prices unless you have a disposable income is retarded.
Bro thinking prices are going to go down versus up in the future is the retarded thought. 😂 stocking up now vs later is smart, because it for 100% fact is going to get MORE expensive. As if life’s going to get better lmfao
@@EagleRun23 about the same out here in Oregon. $15 a box for 9mm and $9 for 5.56. At least we have no sales tax in Oregon. People have definitely stopped buying ammo around here at the pace they were over the last two years. I'm seeing 150 gr FMJ 308 for $13 and it's just sitting not getting any love. Same stuff was flying off the shelves last year at $19 to $25 a box. I'm glad to see people won't have a problem finding hunting ammo this year at least on the common calibers.
