Have a dedicated invertor generator....2000w minimum....about 500USD for the ryobi....I use it and love it....quiet too

Ok, good to know that our experiences are similar - helps for troubleshooting. Thanks

Just idea but could it of been the impact off the lights coming on after being out for a day or so hopefully just a blip 👍

Last time I had a 1.5 day power outage from a wind storm and the temp dropped to like 65F. I ran my tank of a 400W inverter for 11 hours and then the next day borrowed a generator. I have a Trifuel generator but I wished I had a natural gas line installed. unfortunately i would have to run it directly from the gas meter on the other side of the house all the way across to the other side. So far just gas and propane for now that will last me 3-4 days.

Agreed! Hopefully the new generator will come in handy next power outage… I really should have gotten it sooner / no excuse give that I had a natural gas line specifically put it a year ago very close to the tank. It’s one of those things where I thought the battery backups will buy you some time, so you procrastinate and get bit in the a$$

Considering that much of a drop in temp. I think you came out ok. They will bounce back strong cute little school I like them .

Definitely the shift in light especially if you had them going full blast the next day

5 days no power (Ottawa). No losses, 80L tank, battery bubbler + daily 10% water changes. Water was sun heated every day. All credit to my wife who tirelessly did all this maintenance, I just designed the protocol. I'm disabled, so we work as a team on our little nano. We were supposed to get 10 sps frags May 26, they're coming next week now. Sorry to hear you lost a few, we both love your videos.

@@TheBioReef I'm sure you'll figure it out soon enough.

One thing to consider is that if your sump water was stagnant for a day that’s what might of happened.

i had the return pump go on for 10 min every 30 min. so in theory it should have kept things from dying out completely, but yeah, still not ideal

I think it was your temp. If you want the basic survival, I think the vortech is okay and heat, you don't need the vectra. You can do a DIY battery backup using an larger lithium battery and some simple modification and you can have much longer support.

I do as well Garry. Thanks for the feedback

What does your PH sit at and what do you do to keep it stable? Thanks and I hope everything bounces back
@TheBioReef
@TheBioReef 2 года назад
Hi Jac. Actually my PH is not ideal. New tanks always struggle with PH and one factor that I didn’t anticipate is how there isn’t as much air circulation in the basement and the fact that the tank is right beside an entertainment center, so kids practically live there. Last few weeks I really struggled to stay above 7.8 for the low and more than 7.9 for the high. I was planing on installing a kalk reactor a few month down the line, but I decided to go ahead and add it now; so far so good. I’ll do a full rundown of my equipment in an upcoming vid
