Hii… I have worked in Antarctica for 1 year. I was chef in Indian research stations in Antarctica. It was amazing experience working there.

Yes - almost gives me a headache, but that quick pan, rapid cut and zoom technique seems to be favored by some these days. Used judiciously it adds some pop, but past a certain point it detracts from the natural beauty, IMHO.

There's more than enough drama naturally in the landscape/icescape and the scientists' activities. This docu was spoilt, IMHO, by the melodramatics: silly sfx, intrusive 'music' and choppy, poppy scenes. I gave up regular tv too for these and other reasons.

The frozen desert called Antarctica has vast areas that are much warmer than the rest of the continent. There’s hundreds of square miles where there is no snow and fresh water lakes free of ice according to the the US Navy. They were discovered in the 1940’s during Operation High Jump and shown in the academy award winning film “The Secret Land”.

I'll always like these types of movies. I was looking in the storage last year and found a full suite I think my great-granddad must have used. The Shoes, Pans, and Coats all use some type of air pump device. A friend of mine said that the suite would save you better than the new suites of today. The Planet was much colder than today. I've been packing it around for some 30 years, but the suite is older than that I think.

From Whales that thrive in Antarctic's frigid water that would end us in a minute to the vibrant colors created in the boiling pools of pure acid where microbes easily spread and grow at the Erta Ale Volcano of Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression, arguably the hottest and most inhospitable location on this planet..An amazing planet , producing and telling The Greatest Ever Changing Stories On Earth for the last 4.5 billion years.

If people decide to migrate there when it melts enough , I doubt there would be enough law enforcement to prevent it. The reason it's relatively free of human clutter bases and settlements from different countries is cost to set up bases and very rough living conditions. Everybody didn't sign that treaty so it's more of a formality between some wealthy countries only.

If you're going to present temperatures to an international audience, please always state the scale used, Fahrenheit or Celcius. I mean you say 60 MPH and 6500 feet but leave out the scale for temperatures!

For an international production, a metric graphic is essential. It eliminates the commentator having to iterate everything twice, for one thing, and it's about New Zealanders, who utilize the metric system along with the rest of the world. Come on National Geographic, you're a science-based organization.

The temperature given is in Celsius unless otherwise stated. The US is the only place I know that still uses (US) Gallons, Pints, Feet and inches, Fahrenheit, Pounds Ounces. Btw the standard for Gold is Troy Ounces, not Ounces. Thats for Selling AND Buying Gold and for estimating Reserves.

I make over 100 snow sculptures a year. Sign me up to go to Antarctica so I can create super slides and castles for penguins, gonna need a camera crew as well.

hands Jef a pen! i use to make lots of snow sculptures one of my favs was done at night in a school yard tables-n-stools with checker boards on them yes i even made the checkers and coloured& froze them "blinds" with piles of snow balls - again coloured &frozen into piles so they had to make fresh soft ones

@@ShirleeKnott I also post them on my RU-vid channel. Last year my snow Bernie was in the Guardian from England. I went from my town, then my state to U.S.A today to international coverage. I get interviewed every year, three times last year on t.v. news. People used to call me a legend now they call me an icon. The DNR even hired me to make Smoky Bear.

At 4:14, there is a very short clip of what looks like a Ritewing Z3 model aircraft or something very similar. Just curious as to what function it would serve out there since it wasn't shown in use during the length of the video. I fly the same plane more or so for recreation but were originally produced as mapping aircraft.

Growing up in the Catskill Mountains, in a valley 10° colder than the surrounding area, winters were an easy 20 below, sometimes 30. The water troughs in the barn, for the cows, had to be torched so they wouldn't freeze and the cows could drink. I been in 25 below in Minnesota but it's a dry cold, much easier to keep warm when outside. Just watched the documentary on MOUNT EVEREST and those people who got caught in a freak low storm that started as a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. Many of those people lost limbs from frostbite being 3 feet away from the base camp tents just below the summit, but couldn't hear or see anything, the storm was so bad - sounded like a "freight train" all night.

You're right about the FLAT ! Sun's reflections off the ocean prove it, coming to your eyes, whereas on a globe that COULD NOT HAPPEN !

Admiral Richard Bryd AF said there was an opening and a artificial Sun inside with buildings suspended of areas to live in. They had flying vehicles. The people called it Argatha of inner earth if memory serves that was 25yrs ago I read about it. Other countries have been here for decades. German and Russians.

Yes also we have a hole at the top. In Antarctic it was a pleasant 70 degree according to the Admiral.

I don't mean to be rude, but that seems extremely selective to the point of wishful thinking. Is it more likely that there is a massive worldwide conspiracy, or that a few delusional or untruthful people have created a narrative which appeals to people with a conspiratorial mindset? Anyone can say anything about anywhere. What makes him especially credible to you? There's a million and one religions, yet every true believer is convinced that theirs is the one true faith. Isn't critical thinking supposed to be about asking questions rather than accepting stories?
