StormsOfLight Reviews DEATH BATTLE: Akuma VS Shang Tsung 

Oh hey check out my uber long comment at 7:46. I guess it does pay to actually make those. And since Storms brought up that Deadliest Character didn't have a conclusion I should point out that was likely intentional. Because Spoony made Deadliest Character as a parody of Deadliest Warrior a series he felt was annoying at bringing up various facts and figures on these historical groups or people... and then in the animation/demonstration that follows uses totally unrelated or not talked about pieces from a characters mythos to give a swerve to that part of the episode and make the conclusion different then what you'd think it'd be. Thus why Dragonzord wasn't really brought up talking about the Megazord and why the "conclusion" is James Rolfe's character annoyed at MechaGodzilla losing. I do note there is another version of Deadliest character that does have a bit more of a conclusion where Lewis Lovhaug/Linkara does talk more about the overall never give up attitude about the power rangers and the strength of their teamwork but... yeah there wasn't any talk of feats or calcs or anything like that. Granted it would take a bit for DB to use that as well but I do feel even in the earlier episodes Death Battle was at least trying to go with the character they felt would win.... even if yeah it wasn't based really on any research whatsoever. And though I do agree this is better then the first Samus vs Boba Fett (the remake of that episode is like a 100 times better and yeah Boba has had redemption since then... Samus does need a better opponent honestly but that can easily be for another day) especially in how it uses the health bars, this yeah is really only good in comparison to the bare bones aesthetics of season one. People dunk on Akuma vs Shao Kahn from last season which wasn't like a super great episode but it was a lot better at showing Akuma's character and fighting and power better then here but I guess that's held to modern standard then the second epsiode standards this one is held to plus yeah they do at least show interesting ideas like Shang Tsung turning into Akuma... sadly that's as interesting as the fight gets but again early show jitters. Speaking of that though next time health bars are gone we come to yeah a very polarizing episode for a lot of reasons, especially certain hosts attitudes at the time. Heh if you actually know anything about the guy behind Deadliest Character The Spoony one aka Noah Antwiler's videos he actually had even more sort of skeevy videos then that based on sketches I doubt would really fly today but... I do feel it made sense for the era of internet comedy that was pevalent in 2011. That's spoiled like sour milk now but it will be interesting to hear you talk about in like a week or so.

I know we only had healthbars in the first two episodes, but here it felt a little thematic at least.
