Donnie! Always be a Warrior! I recently had 3 strokes at age 56, I fought hard at physical, occupational and speech therapy. My Neurologist said sleep is very healing. I still don’t trust my left leg, as I fall for no reason, but I’m not giving up!

I am so tha thankful and blessed for the Rehabilitation teams at Lee Health Center in Fort Myers, Florida who helped me start my recovery process after my Stroke on Xmas day 2022. They worked so hard with me four hours daily six days a week for two weeks before I was released from the hospital. They bathe me, gave me speech therapy, worked me so hard in the gym that I was dreading to see them coming down the hallway to get me. But I can't wait until I can go back to that hospital and thank them for what they did for me in person. I told them that I wanted to be able to walk again in the hospital. And now I'm starting to, slowly and gingerly, but walking. I want them to see that all of our hard work is paying off.

As a recent inter cerribrial stroke survivor June 29 2022 this video has given me so much hope. Donnie’s story is incredible. What a strong man and wife. I’m lucky to have such an incredible wife myself supporting me through my dark days. After 8 weeks I am walking with a cane. Working on getting my left arm back. My wife and I watched this video together and she’d happy tears. This weekend I was allowed a weekend pass to our new home. Much ❤️❤️

I'm trying to find a grant for some real rehabilitation for my what was to be my son in law who was hit by a semi in September 1st 2022 and suffered a severe tbi he's being neglected by parents. They left laying in halix for 7.5 months until Halifax finally packed him and dumped up where he is now suffering neglect at the lowest of low nursing homes him the day he turned 21 He is talking he can read and count and remembers everything and has full use of his limbs. He just weak and can't even sit up on his own from being left in bed for 7 months. I support him 100% with anything he needs for personal use but I can't afford any rehab for him His stole his insurance money neither parent has bought so much as a bar of soap. We've made reports to the state but don't see any results. This young man was the most responsible respectful sweetest boy. And his life was snatched away. All I want is him to have some sort of quality of life. We are located in central Florida.

Hey Donnie, I just watched your RU-vid video of your story. I see we’ve got some things in common, both lived a very active lifestyle of cycling, running, military background, stroke survivors. I live alone since a year post stroke, my wife and I divorced. I’ve been in search of people who’s just as active as I am to do things with and hopefully race with too.

It's very tough, but don't give up. I push myself everyday just to do the little things I used to take for granted like combing my hair, tying my shoes, or brushing my teeth. I have confidence in you and believe that you will get better. Don't ever give up.

Probably most people...I would assume depression and frustration are extremely challenging.
@henryhawkins1194

Yes, it's common for stroke survivors to be depressed, and have mood swings. I currently am on Prozac to help with my depression.
