Do more of these boogie! I love these story time videos, especially when I'm up late at night and everyone I know has gone to bed. I especially like your final message with this video... in part because I was inspired to go into the gaming world(both making and playing) by a little known title I played, and became extremely addicted to when I was 8, Halo 2. I still remember beating it the first time and watching the credits roll and seeing jason jones talk about the development at the end and I remember thinking how awesome it would be to be able to accomplish something like that. I didnt even own the game at that time, my parents are separated and my dad had an xbox with about 4 games, some splinter cell and halo ce and halo 2. I only saw my dad on alternating weekends but I was on his xbox almost the whole time I was there because my mom couldnt afford one. One of my best memories with my dad was actually staying up until 6 am playing halo ce on the level in the flood infested forest. All because of gaming. Now I'm a first year computer science student in university.

The story about the NES reminds me a story about my childhood.. when I was kid.. I wanted a NES so bad I asked my parents if I could have it for christmas and we were broke most of the time so they said no. But one Christmas I remember going to Sears with my dad.. and I pointed what I wanted.. and he said maybe santa will bring it.. and sure enough come christmas there it was under the tree I was so happy playing super mario bros and duck hunt it was so fun I had it set up in my room..playing all the time, it was so much fun.. I didnt play much other games other then mario cause I loved it but I later played other ones and was so happy, Thanks for sharing a little bit of your life with us Boogie that was awesome.. Love ya

I am not going to lie, I was born in 2000. But my parent were those people were the ones who would keep things nice and keep old worn out stuff. And when I was about 4 I was telling my mom I was out of my mind bored and she showed me her somewhat new and old gamecube and I played the absolute FUCK out of Super Smash Bros, and I was never popular around the area of where I lived. But I had only one friend that I played it with and it was the best time we ever had and still share that bond to this day now with the new Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U. I don't have a Wii U yet because I am kinda low on the money side. But me and my best friend whenever we have time to practice to our hearts content on Smash and try to be our best with every character. If you have read this far thank you for listening to my story and I am shocked you have actually wanted to listen to my life story, so thank you.

After the PS2 & Xbox era gaming became a lot more antisocial :/ before it used to be going over to eachothers house talking about games, playing games, helping your friend out on a game. Now it's talking to random people, racists on the mics, squeakers that swear every other word. Man i miss the PS2 era

Great story, Boogie. It sounds very similar to mine, as I think we are both right around the same age, and both grew up in homes without a lot of money. I too was introduced to the magic of video games in early 80's arcades, and my first console was an Atari 2600. It also was the NES that absolutely rocked my world, and The Legend of Zelda remains probably the most transformative video game I've ever played. I think our generation is INCREDIBLY lucky to have been born when we were, especially when it comes to gaming. This amazing hobby has grown up alongside us, and we've been able to be there to enjoy it for practically every step of the way. As I approach my forties, I love gaming more than I ever have, and hope to be doing this for another 40 years at least. I wish the same for you. Keep up the great work!

I am 14 years old. I can't really remember much about my childhood but i had a few systems back in the days like the N64 and some other one i cant remember. But those were really good times. I would stay up late with my cousin to play the games that we had and wake up early in the morning to do the same thing. Now i moved to America and i have no one to share gaming with here. All i own at my house is my Gaming Computer which i use everyday to watch youtube and play games. After watching this video i remember back to how great my childhood was and how i got into gaming myself. Thank you for this video and i hope you make a bunch more story time videos they are so fun to watch and i really enjoy them and i watch all your videos because they're so inspiring boogie so thank you!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed this video, keep em up. For us 70's/80's kids it lets us relive some of our old memories. We probably sound like old men but to let the younger gamers see what it was like for us to be excited to go to a mom/pop video store to rent a game or even a blockbuster. Nintendo power hotline instead of the internet that blows there mind. These video's also humanize you as a person instead of a character and it is good to remind people that you are just a regular guy with a love for games.(Also with the time and knowledge to run a RU-vid channel).

I say we keep story time, it's really cool. Here's my gaming story: As far as I can remember we had an n64 and Dreamcast in my house. The n64 was probably from my parents for my older brother and the dreamcast apparently came from my surrogate uncle. We don't have the dreamcast anymore for some reason but I remember playing House of the Dead like nobody's business. As for the n64 we played all the classics. Super Mario, Smash Brothers, Goldeneye, Banjoe Kazooie (actually we played Banjoe Tooie more), the list goes on. When the next generation came around we got a gamecube and ps2 (not sure which one first), but around this time I bought a game and got a monthly game informer subscription with it. Now I could see all the cool new games coming out. This was the great days for my gaming, because school was easy (and I was homeschooled) so I finished my work really quick and around 1 or 2pm I would have the rest of the day to relax, watch cartoons, and play video games. Eventually I did go to public school for some time, which sucked, but I made friends, people that I hang out with to this day, and they came over and we would game together. We still do game together, though commonly now its online. I remember when wireless controllers came out and when games started including online modes. It was an amazing experience. I sat in awe at this futuristic technology. Childhood wonder at its finest. There's so many great moments in my gaming past, I wish I could just delve into a game like that again and lose myself in it. (Thankfully that sort of happened with back in 2012 with Dishonored.) Pretty much everyone I knew gamed and everyone had games or consoles that other people didn't. Gaming and playing outside are probably the two most defining parts of my childhood, Also, Boogie, I think you flubbed the year. Around 8:22 you say you got your NES for your birthday in 1998. Guessing you meant 1989, but I've been wrong before.

Wow this story hit home for me as well, But being a middle child in a military family I was often ridiculed by my father for playing video games and was promptly put to some menial task for suggesting it . I also had many friends that had game systems and I would beg to spend the night over every chance I got and on those strange moon phases that i actually got to do it, we would game all night. Sometimes it would be three or four of my friends at one house on the sub bases. Sleeping in shifts to beat the games before we had to return them to the rental shop. Such friendships are never forgotten. I miss my old friends and the wonderful memories that are still vivid as yesterday. Thank you for rekindling the magic of video games.

Thanks for the story, Boogie. If I'm allowed the indulgence, I'd like to share a short version of what made me a gamer. Born 1987. My first gaming experience was the Odyssey II (Phillips version) when I was 4-6. I'd often play against my mom on it, usually beating her. She'd take me to the arcade, and I'd try out various games there, but the ones that were my absolute favorites throughout the years were Aliens 3 and Jurassic Park. At some point she got me the NES and a selection of games. She even ordered a Game Genie for me (the only way I've beat many of those games to date). All of them I enjoyed playing as a kid, even though I didn't follow their stories (or even understood, as english isn't my primary language). Chip and Dale and Kirby were usually the highlights of my day. My first true computer games I played were with the kids I at the time considered friends, including Commander Keen, Doom and Duke Nukem 3D. I had my first exposure to the SNES with my extended family and I ploughed through many of the games when I got my own, usually with my mom or my cousins. To this day I occasionally play SNES with one of them. When we got the family's first PC, I was hooked on all kinds of games for it, demos and full versions alike. Those games helped me learn english and provided all manner of entertainment, though I stuck with the fast-paced games. Quake was the first fully 3D game I tried, even though it was so-so on the DOS of that machine. Before the turn of the millennium, I consistently cheated in the games I played, enjoying ultimate power. One of my favorites of the time, one that I learned of in a gaming convention my mom took me to was Shattered Steel. And it is one of the highlights of my gaming history. The moment I started to realize that games can be so much more than flashy effects and exhilaration came with The Ocarina of Time at the end of the millennium. I understood large parts of the story, but I wasn't as invested as I am today. The moment that started to shape me as a gamer who invests himself in the story was when Sheik revealed who she really was. That's when I understood that games can be stories. And with Majora's Mask a few years later I understood that games can be art. I received the Game Cube on my birthday in '02 after following the trailers for it and its games, and from then on I was consistently buying the games myself for console and PC, seeking enjoyment in both gameplay and story. And I was rarely disappointed. It was from this time onward I'd try out my friends' games, single-player or co-op. I even played through a few in a few sittings each. Doom3 in one long sitting. Now I engross countless hours of my free time in games, focusing usually on single-player experiences and often indulging in online arcade shooters. I play with friends and with my cousin whenever I get the opportunity, either enjoying fun co-op experiences, commentary on the games or reliving the past. When the whim takes me, I plug in my old consoles and set out on yet more attempts of slaying the dragons that have slumbered for two decades. I have yet to beat so many NES and SNES titles. I beat Super Mario Bros. without cheats in the summer of 2014. The All-Stars version. More are still waiting. Journey to Silius and Megaman IV are the crown challenges. I have yet to make it my mission to beat Faxanadu. I constantly fail to beat the clock in Jurassic Park II. The Joker still laughs at my attempts at progressing in Return of the Joker. The mountain is still insurmountable in Iron Sword. The MiGs still fly in Turn 'n' Burn. I could never figure out how to proceed in the municipal building in Robocop. Action 52 melted through. In games, I have saved worlds, slain countless enemies, defeated empires, felled dragons, protected the innocent and run criminal kingdoms. But for all my triumphs, the old challenges still hold their place. They await for me to conquer them. And the more I engross in games, and the more I consume them, more challenges come. And I will meet them, with keen mind, virtual steel and digital magic. I am a gamer. My family and my friends made me a gamer. I will continue to be a gamer, and pass on that legacy to my eventual family. This hobby has done more to shape me than any other form of entertainment that I had access to as a child could have ever done.

When i was young, my dad had to move a lot because of his job. Because of this, i was never able to really become part of the "in" crowd and was often teased relentlessly. Video-games were my escape. Today though, i am making friends, expanding my horizons, and growing as a person. I really love this community.

I might share my story of how i got into gaming. It was back in early 2000 and my dad had a playstation 1. My first memory of me playing is when i was 4 years old and i remember playing gran turismo 2 and sitting infront of our big brand new sony tv. I remember i was driving a nissan gtr and my dad tought me the best lines to drive and stuff like that. Then i got a ps2 and played gta san andreas with my friends like 24/7 and when i was with my dad we played gt4. Then we got ps3 and oh boy was that amazing. That machine is tough as a rock. Sometimes on for a couple of days of nonstop playing with friends. Guitar hero, cod, battlefield, granturismo, gta and etc. After 8 year that machine still works, every controller still works. (we had to ps3 consoles one for me and one for my dad, and we both got steering wheels to play gt againts each other in online). And now this christmas i got my ps4. Nit many memories with it yet but i bet there will be many. I had an xbox 360 for a two weeks but it broke down so i got rid of it. I could call myself for a playstation fanboy but i have a reason for it. Its been such a big part of my life, i know some people prefer pc's but it never felt right to me to play with a mouse and keyboard. And i like to do my gaming in the livingroom with friend or family and have a nice time (ofcourse i have memories playing some doom and worms and other classic pc games on a friends old pc). But yeah thats my story. Btw i still have all my playstation consoles hooked up to my tv. If i ever feel like i want to play the first Driver i just put on my ps 1 and start playing.

Yeah man, that was a great story! I myself never really had any consoles because my parents didn't really want to buy me games consoles, they kinda thought it was a waste of time. but the more they saw me wanting one they started to budge, ad when I was 7 (about 2003) I was given an N64 by a friend with donkey kong 64 and I played that thing so much, saving up all my pocket money to get games like rogue squadren (which thankfully were extremely cheap at the time). Then my dad bought me and my sister gameboy colours! (about 2004) and I got pokemon blue and warioland with it. Since then I have aquired a lot of consoles, most of them retro but i love nintendo and everything else but nintendo is my favourite because the SNES is the best console ever. Don't let this series end please :D

I loved your story Boogie! I remember the very first console that introduced me to gaming was the Nintendo 64 and the game Donkey Kong 64. At the time, that game was absolutely mind blowing and challenging as fuck for a little kid. However I ultimately grew up during the early 2000's era of the Playstation 2 and Original Xbox. That was an amazing time for gaming, although I skipped quite a few franchises during that time. I believe other than DK64, I was obsessed with Grand Theft Auto 3 for the PS2. After that my gaming habit took off to be what it is today. Now I can(like many others) have the money to pay for games but not nearly as much time to play them haha.

Was a cool story, more of this! I was born in 86 so my gaming really started in the early 90s, I remember having a NES and a Master System and then later on I remember sneak peaking late at night from the top of our staircase and watching my parents playing Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mega Drive, which was to be my christmas present for that year (I guess 1992 ish?) Man I was so excited about that, somehow I still believed the story that Santa brought it for me. I think I was lucky to have two parents who were into gaming, my mother still plays Super Mario on her Nintendo DS, and also has a Wii for Mario (2d side scrolling style only though!).

boogie it seems we both spent alot of time playing all those games but i had more access to buying games at a younger age due to my dad having money from selling insider info to a company and then eventually went to jail. once i got to a point where my allowance was able to be saved for a n64. all those games back then has so much play time for a console games. zelda had countless hours of play. i spent alot of time inside playing w.e system was there at the time, my aunt raised me while my mom was gone and dad was at work or in jail so i didnt get to go out much due to my aunt being protective so it lead to me spending hours and hours on every game i could get my hands on. the nintendo talk line got a decent chunk of money from me each summer lol

The PC Master Race existed back in the 80s too. I come from Boogie's era and while most kids my age were getting the Atari 2600 and NES, I got in to Atari 1200XL and Commodore 64. This was a pre-windows era and I ran a BBS directory(pre internet) with dozens of game addresses for sharing. It was like the pirate bay 80s style. Yet I was still drawn to Pitfall on the Atari 2600. FYI I still have the 80s computers in storage and an Atari 5200 sitting in my living room. Old School...but PCMR lives within my with my 5960X and 3x980s!!!!

Choose your own adventure books? Wow. I didn't think anyone else knew about those. I loved those books. So much fantasy involved. No wonder why I like fantasy based games and rpgs. :] I work with a gaming company now. A love for the hobby has certainly come true for me.

Man I wish I grew up in the arcade days, you make it sound awesome. I started gaming on NES back in the early 90's, and I did go to a lot of arcades but NES made home consoles popular and was the primary means of gaming at the time.

your story of getting legend of zelda is similar to me getting my first game in that they where both stolen. i remember it was like 1998 and some kid was waving it around on the bus talking about how much better he was because his mom got it, but then when the bus started moving he sat down and dropped it between his seat and it landed by my feet. i picked it up and kept it. then my mom found out and made me give it to the bus driver, she had it for a month and the kid never asked her for it so the bus driver gave it back. i talked to the kid and he told me he never owned the game so i was like "um........ok." and kept it. that pokemon red cartridge is one of my favorite items in my collection even if its common. come to think of it thats the only thing i've ever knowingly stolen.

I'm 16 now, and though my gaming story isn't as amazing, I felt compelled to tell it after watching. When I was probably about 4 years old my dad used to play a little on the original Playstation we had, and would occasionally let me play on this Star Wars FPS game we owned (I've quite forgotten the name..). I sort of got hooked to having a controller in my hand and my dad noticed this and bought some more games such as Crash Bandicoot, etc. But one day I was at my cousins house and I must have been about 5 now. He had "Spyro the Dragon" and "Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer"(I believe it is called "Ripto's Rage" in other countries). I immediately fell in love with those games. So we played all evening and my cousin actually gave me Spyro 2, and the next day I played non-stop. I ended up with all the Spyro games for the original Playstation and completed them all countless times. But then, a few years later (between this time I'd gotten a PS2 and played many games such as GTA: San Andreas and Medal of Honor, etc) I played on my friends Xbox 360 on Halo 3, and that changed everything. I fell in love with the graphics, the story, the characters and MULTIPLAYER! The next year for my birthday I got a 360 and Halo: Reach (which had only been out a couple months, so I was over the moon) and that got me to where I was today with a great PC and Xbox One. I, like boogie, play anything and almost always enjoy it. Or try to. I play WoW, Halo, Minecraft, Skyrim, Arma, DayZ, Hearthstone, Bioshock and hundreds of others. All this started from Spyro the Dragon on the PS1.

My first games console was was a nes, and the one game I played the hell out of was megaman! Despite the the fact there was no way of saving your progress, I'd just play it over n over, but the big moment for me was seeing the N64 on a kids programme called blue Peter and they were showcasing super Mario 64, and I couldn't believe how good the graphics were! The first two games I played was Mario 64 n waverace which was awesome! But my favourite game was goldeneye 64, that changed everything for me, the graphics the gameplay the way the enemies reacted depending which body part you hit was super realistic, it blew me away! it was also the first time I properly experienced mutilplayer and me n my mates were never off it! I even bought an N64 and goldeneye off amazon a year ago cos I missed it so much! Loved hearing your story boogie, nice hearing someone elses childhood memories about gaming

I was born in 2000 and my story wouldn't Be a true story if it hadn't been for my family I wasn't to social either I'm still not and as a kid I would play W.O.W on this old computer from the nineties that my step dad had and when I was about 4 my biological dad had a dream cast that I would play games he had for it when I was around 7 my family got me a GameCube with super Mario sunshine a Godzilla game and spider man the game. I've got a few more stories but it would take to long. Any way all of this leads up to me building my very first pc in 2014 thx to my cheap ways and my parents paying the other half of it

Must be good being "born gamer" in America... It just doesn't work like that for other people ;_; I had that tick in my brain for gaming first time I saw a game on Sega Genesis and to this very day I don't own any console and my computer is shit because I can not afford gaming. Never owned a console and probably never will.

Munchausen Syndrome Diseases & Conditions (Formerly known as Munchausen syndrome) It is a mental illness, in which a person repeatedly acts as if he or she has a physical, emotional or cognitive disorder when, in truth, he or she has caused the symptoms. People with factitious disorders act this way because of an inner need to be seen as ill or injured, not to achieve a concrete benefit, such as financial gain. They are even willing to undergo painful or risky tests and operations in order to get the sympathy and special attention given to people who are truly ill. Some will secretively injure themselves to cause signs like blood in the urine or cyanosis of a limb. Cyanosis is the condition occurring when the blood supply is cut off to a particular part of the body and the skin takes on a dusky blue color. Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self is associated with severe emotional difficulties. Originally called Munchausen syndrome, named for Baron von Munchausen, an 18th century German officer who was known for embellishing the stories of his life and experiences-is the most severe type of factitious disorder. Most symptoms in people with this disorder are related to physical illness-symptoms such as chest pain, stomach problems, or fever-rather than those of a mental disorder. In DSM5, all Self Imposed Factitious disorders are included under one heading. What are the symptoms of Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self? People with this syndrome deliberately produce or exaggerate symptoms in several ways. They might lie about or fake symptoms, hurt themselves to bring on symptoms, or alter diagnostic tests (such as contaminating a urine sample). Possible warning signs of Munchausen syndrome include the following: Dramatic but inconsistent medical history Unclear symptoms that are not controllable and that become more severe or change once treatment has begun Predictable relapses following improvement in the condition Extensive knowledge of hospitals and/or medical terminology, as well as the textbook descriptions of illnesses Presence of multiple surgical scars Appearance of new or additional symptoms following negative test results Presence of symptoms only when the patient is alone or not being observed (e.g. seizures or passing out) Willingness or eagerness to have medical tests, operations, or other procedures History of seeking treatment at numerous hospitals, clinics, and doctors' offices, possibly even in different cities Reluctance by the patient to allow health care professionals to meet with or talk to family, friends, or prior health care providers Problems with identity and self-esteem More comfortable being in the hospital than you might think Medical knowledge may be quite extensive from many hospitalizations or prior work Some individuals may put blood in their urine, inject themselves with feces or put tight rubber bands around an arm or leg. There are many forms this disorder may take: feigning cancer, cardiac disease, skin disorders, infections, bleeding disorders, metabolic disorders, chronic diarrhea, and many more. What causes Factitious Syndrome Imposed on Self? The exact cause is not known, but researchers believe both biological and psychological factors play a role in the development of this syndrome. Some theories suggest that a history of abuse or neglect as a child, or a history of frequent illnesses requiring hospitalization, might be factors associated with the development of this syndrome. Researchers also are studying the possible link with personality disorders, which are common in these individuals. How common is it? There are no reliable statistics regarding the number of people in the United States who suffer from this disorder, but it is considered to be rare. In hospital populations it is estimated that 1% will meet the criteria. Obtaining accurate statistics is difficult because of dishonesty in representation. In addition, people with this disorder tend to seek treatment at many different health care facilities, which causes misleading statistics. While Factitious Syndrome Imposed on Self can occur in children, it most often affects young adults. How is Factitious Syndrome Imposed on Self diagnosed? Diagnosing is very difficult because of the dishonesty that is involved. Doctors must rule out any possible physical and mental illnesses, and often use a variety of diagnostic tests and procedures before considering this diagnosis. If the doctor finds no physical reason for the symptoms, he or she might refer the person to a psychiatrist or psychologist - mental health professionals who are specially trained to diagnose and treat mental illnesses. Psychiatrists and psychologists use a thorough medical history and physical, laboratory imagery, and psychological assessment tools to evaluate. The doctor bases his or her diagnosis on the exclusion of actual physical or other psychiatric disorders, and his or her observation of the patient's attitude and behavior. However, personality concerns are prominent and can make it that much more confusing to sort out organic from factitious etiologies. Questions to be answered include: Do the patient's reported symptoms make sense in the context of all test results and assessments? Do we have collateral information from other sources that confirm the patient's information? (If the patient does not allow this, this is a helpful clue.) Is the patient willing to take the risk for more procedures and tests than you would expect? Are treatments working in a predictable way? If they claim severe mental symptoms are because of the death of a loved one, the doctor needs to confirm the facts of the loss. The doctor then determines if the patient's symptoms compare to the criteria as outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), which is the standard reference book for recognized mental illnesses in the United States: Falsification of psychological or physical symptoms or signs. They are intentionally trying to deceive and may harm or injure themselves purposely but deny having done so. How is Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self treated? Although a person with this syndrome actively seeks treatment for the various disorders he or she invents, the person often is unwilling to admit to and seek treatment for the syndrome itself. This makes treating people with this syndrome very challenging, and the outlook for recovery poor. If caretakers can protect the patient from self-harm and educate him or her about consequences that can occur, it may be helpful. Trying to reduce his or her care through only one physician, or two working closely together (psychiatrist and internist), is also suggested. When treatment is sought, the first goal is to modify the person's behavior and reduce his or her misuse or overuse of medical resources. Once this goal is met, treatment aims to work out any underlying psychological issues that might be causing the person's behavior or help him or her find solutions to housing or other social needs. The primary treatment for Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self is psychotherapy (a type of counseling). Treatment likely will focus on changing the thinking and behavior of the individual (cognitive-behavioral therapy). Family therapy also might be helpful in teaching family members not to reward or reinforce the behavior of the person with the disorder, but often the person is estranged from his or her family. Group therapy may reduce feelings of isolation or that no one cares for them. There are no medicines to treat factitious disorders themselves. Medicine might be used, however, to treat any related disorder-such as depression, anxiety, or a personality disorder. The use of medicines must be carefully monitored in people with factitious disorders due to the risk that the drugs might never be picked up from the pharmacy or might be used in a harmful way. What are the complications of Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self? These individuals are at risk for health problems (or even death) associated with hurting themselves or otherwise causing symptoms. In addition, they might suffer from reactions or health problems associated with multiple tests, procedures, and treatments, and are at high risk for substance abuse and suicide attempts. What is the prognosis (outlook) for people with Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self? Some people will suffer only a single episode of symptoms. In most cases, however, the disorder is a recurring condition that can be very difficult to treat. Many will deny they are faking symptoms and will not seek or follow treatment. Even with treatment, it is more realistic to work toward managing the disorder rather than to try curing it. Avoiding unnecessary, inappropriate admissions to the hospital, testing, or treatment is important. Can Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self be prevented? There is no known way to prevent this disorder. However, it might be helpful to begin treatment in people as soon as they begin to have symptoms.

wow... It's really amazing to see that there are people out there who has something in common with what I experienced as a kid. I was born in 94 so my earliest Video Game memory was with the PlayStation. I am the youngest of 6 kids and everyone in the family plays Video Games. When my Mom and Dad bought a PlayStation in 98, it wasn't because any of the kids asked for it, but because they wanted it. for the first few months none of us were even allowed to play it, it was just the "Grownups toy" Some of my earliest memories are of sitting in my moms lap while she played Crash Bandicoot. I remember my Dad playing Champions of Norrath every morning when I left for school. The first game I actually have a memory of playing was a Berenstain Bears game on the Gameboy Color. At the beginning I never really got choice in games because I had older brothers and sisters who got to pick, so I grew up on allot of Final Fantasy. I remember not being able to get past a point on one of the older FF games, I was grinding for a few hours and still not able to defeat the monsters where I needed to go. Than my brother told me I was going the wrong way and I was like 5 levels above the next boss because of the grinding. The first game had to call my own was Pokemon Red. My mom got it for me because she knew I loved the show. and Pokemon pretty much stuck with me growing up. It didn't matter how many or few friends I had, because I always had Pokemon. And yes Tyranitar is my favorite Pokemon.

In the city I live in we have a "Barcade", it's a bar with a bunch of old pin ball and arcade games in it.... My adulthood, had finally meet my childhood and it's awesome.

Boog, I'm not really a gamer, although I enjoyed playing casually when I was a teen and in my early 20s. I was initially interested in your channel due to Francis, but then begun watching your other videos and grew to love your channel. I just thought that you should know that some people are attracted to your channel because of you and you personality. From what I've seen in your videos, you seen like a stellar guy and although I don't really game anymore, it seems to me that you would be a cool guy to hang with. man I feel fortunate to have owned a snes when it came out, I also got the basic model that came with mario, got it as a christmas present and man I played the crap out of it. My father worked at a mall as a watchmaker for rolex and would bring me along all the time. I would go to the gamestop and look at all the new games and when my father was done gathering his watches to fix at home he would meet me at gamestop and I would ask him to buy me a game. Sometimes I wouldn't want any games and just looked around and read the gameinformers. Heh I remember that day when Zelda came out and I didn't want the game, my father was talking to one of the employees in the store about what game he should buy for me and when we left I got into the car and he took out his briefcase and out came a gamestop bag with Zelda in it... I was so happy when I got home popped it in and man I played the crap out of that game.

The first video game system I got was the Nintendo 64. When I was young, I got an N64 for Christmas of 1997. At the time, I didn't know what kind of toy it was. Later on I managed to play the first two games I owned for the N64; Diddy Kong Racing and Super Mario 64, and I was impressed since it was nothing I've ever experienced. Every week, we go to the video rental store and I would rent out N64 games, I had fond memories of playing Snowboard Kids 2, Bomberman Hero, and other games. I didn't not own some of those games, so I would play the ones that my parents bought for me such as Banjo-Kazooie, Paper Mario, and both Legend of Zelda games for the system. But when I got the gamecube with SSBM and Luigi's Mansion for Christmas of 2001, my mind was blowed away by how much the graphic were more advanced and I played Melee all the time. I eventually got my Wii for my Birthday of 2007 and the PS3 for Christmas of 2010. Since then I was able to play a variety of games from different franchises and genres alike.

Dude, you sorta hit me in the feels talking about Kingsport. I live in Elizabethton, TN and my brother and I still go to the Fort Henry Mall to play in the arcade. I think it's pretty cool that you're from the same area I am.

Lol I think we are almost the same age, I was 3 when my dad got a Pong, I was 7 in 1980 when we got an Atari then I got a NES for Christmas when I was 14 in 87. By that time I was addicted to gaming and have been playing as much as I can ever since. My feelings towards the NES was "blown away" lol after thinking Atari was the shit and not understand at a young age that technology was just going to keep improving and getting better I never thought we would see something on a home console like what the NES did. I had a good time between the crash of 83 and 87 when I got the NES, I was still playing my Atari and went to a lot of arcades. But a little game called King's Quest came out in 84 and my cousin got it and I was always asking to go over there so I could play it. We finally got a computer and I started up on those kinds of games, it has made me like to PC game as well as console game. By the time the Genesis and SNES came out I was getting older and could buy my own games & consoles. It's funny how much Zelda means to me as well, that was one of those games that I was addicted to and loved every hour I put into it. But the first game I ever got was Metroid, I got that on Christmas 87 with my NES and stayed up until 6am playing it. Metroid & Zelda are partially responsible for my love for gaming, Castlevania, Dragon Warrior & Final Fantasy were my other favorites. Believe it or not SM2 is my favorite Mario game, I love how different it is. It's funny how some people just have no clue about how much some of us love gaming, they think it's such a waste of time but who is it for them to decide what is a waste of time or not? Someone's gaming time is no different then someone who spends their time watching TV show after TV show. Or someone who is in a book club, or someone who spends time outdoors in the mountains or something. You should do what makes you happy, that is gaming to me. I don't play like I used to but sure do find some time for it, I need it to re-set my clock dealing with the stress of life. I'm a gamer for life and I don't care what anybody has to say negative about that.

Please, Please continue these. Your previous story time videos really brought me to love watching and listening to your videos, and to think of you as a friend.

I think it's interesting watching videos like this made by older people, since I was born in 1996, and my parents had a Sega Genesis (which I didn't play until sophomore or junior year of high school) and then a Playstation, so I've always been around video games, where as you grew up when video games weren't really a thing. Very cool.

first gaming experience for me was either super mario bros 3 or alex kidd in miracle world, this was sometime in '88 or '89 i think... first "real" PC game i played was text based chess on an old computer that needed one disk to boot up and another with the game, a friend of mine's dad had a computer, he worked at a place where he had gotten it cheaper (still very pricy) my family didnt get a PC till '94 i think, it was a 20MhZ with 8MB RAM and 80MB HDD, it ran windows 3.11, it cost like 10.000 DKK (about 1.500 USD) that was alot of money back then, it was later upgraded to 12MB RAM for like 1.000 DKK, i was instantly hooked, i could play "jill of the jungle" for many hours, i wasnt allowed to play it all day every day, because of the power usage... looking back it seems very crazy, not being allowed to spend too much time on a computer with a 120w PSU. i still have that first PC, it is in a box in my parrents attic, and unless the battery has run out, it should still work...

Zelda, Final Fantasy, Halo, MGS, even the original Sonic which was my first game in the early 90s impacted my life so deeply I don't know how I ever could have made it in life without those escapes.

Great video... I have very fond memories of my sister teaching me how to play super Mario bros 3 and showing me all the tricks to get behind the level. She also showed me how to get the whistle and how to get a star everytime when completing a stage.

these story modes you have are awesome, it gives me a sense that I am not alone in the gaming community. I spent alot of my time (in the 80's and 90s) shut off from the world, mainly because I couldn't connect with people (Autism based), but when it came to Video games, I obsessed over them and than became the guy that everyone came to in my area. it was my outlet to be able to connect to the world.

Never stop story time. I have gone through good and bad times just like anyone else, but your stories definitely help carry through some of the bad. Just knowing there can be upsides. Then there are the stories like this where it's just nice to know more about you as a person lol.

Boogie I would have loved to have you as an older brother. :)I think my younger brother would have too. I got my first game system while I was in the first grade. It was an Atari 7800 and my parents saved for months to get it for me. I remember it came with Pole Position 2 and my parents got me Ball Blazer to go with it. I wasn't sophisticated enough for ball blazer yet but I loved Pole Position 2. My baby sitter at the time, he sonr had just gotten his NES and was done with his large catalouge of Atari 2600 games and they gave them to me. They all played perfectly on the 7800 and you know what my favorite game out of all of them was? E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. Yeah weird right? But I had the manual to go with it and I actually read it. I loved that game, it took a lot of imagination to play and I had a lot of that. I remember fondly the hourse in front of my TV because I was too sickly to play outside. My baby sitter's son Johnny, who I have always regarded as a big brother would let me watch him play his games and I learned my first cusswords from him hehe. Thinking back on those days fills me with great joy and I'm glad you shared your humble beginings in the gaming world with us, it makes me feel a resurgence of the joy I felt in my youth. You're a great man Boogie. I love you bro.

The very first game i play was when i was 1 or 2 on the original xbox it was halo combat evolved that game got me hooked to video game for the past 15 years.

I've been gaming since I was about five or six, cant recall completely as I have a shocking memory but my brother had a Nintendo 64 my sister had a PlayStation and our family friends next door had a N64, PlayStation and a Sega Saturn, used to show up at there house to play Driver, Twisted Metal and GTA II, I have fond memories annoying my brother and sister until they would let me play on there systems. Ape Escape, Tony Hawks Pro Skater, Spyro The Dragon, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire to name a few, as well as some unpleasant memories of Crash Bandicoot Warped.

I remember back in 97 I was only 5 years old when my dad came home with the n64. He brought home 2 games, mk mythologies sub zero and super mario 64. I had no idea what any of this was. I remember playing mk mythologies first because I thot the dragon logo was cool. I remember playing the first level after you beat the 1st 2 guys, there are these pillars that come down and smash you into pieces. Of course I had no idea. So when I get to the area I just remember seeing a ninja getting smashed into pieces with blood everywhere! Lol Even tho I fell in love with gaming that night after playing mario64. Mk mythologies had me scared for a few years and wouldn't touch the game till I was a few years older lol

first game I ever played was super mario bros. Later on our cousin gave us a sega and we played sonic and mortal combat and I played mega man on the pc windows 95. Then The first 3d game I ever played was tomb raider 1 on windows 95 we only had the demo and there was no sound as we did not have a sound card in those days lol but it was fun i still play tomb raider I have played everyone one except I never completed AOD. My brother got an xbox for christmas and one of the first games I played was halo then prince of persia which is a totally awesome game. Many games were played and I always finished them before my brother. Then a long while later I got a psp after I modded it and played many games like god of war I traded it for a xbox 360 after I played halo 3 and reach I traded that for a ps3 played god of war 123 and a few other games. Eventually I started fixing them as mine had beginning ylod but still worked I fixed tonbs of them and eventually bought a slim for 50 bucks. played far cry tomb raider all the good stuff. Then some guy sold me 14 broken ps3ès 12 broken xboxes and 1 old ipod for 100$ I fixed a few of them and sold them and found out they were all jailbreakable. Then I moved out and didnt have much time to fix them anymore. I played the last of us and many others on my jailbroken console and modded the crap out of it. I still have 2 modded consoles but i sold the rest for 120. Now I have a pc and im playing skyrim etc. I still have my slim ps3 and 2 jailbroken consoles and an old hp PC with amd athalon phenomII x3 in it lol.

Oh man I adored those choose your own adventure books! I actually don't remember too much about growing up, I just remember growing up the baby of the family on a reservation in North Dakota called fort totten. We had an atari and was kinda the family that kept up with new tech and electronics and stuff. So games were almost natural for me to get into weird life and stuff

My first game was the ps1 bat man and driver and pac man i loved them thats what started me on buying the ps4 and the xbox one and you one of my best gamers out there thanks 😇
