Lovely walk. Lived in the village all my life. Happy memories of going to the school in the village. Lovely and peaceful to be able to live in open countryside. The way Wash Lane has got flooded when there has been heavy rain over the years means It certainly would not be a good idea to build houses there. (I recall a family friend had to be rescued from his car one day when the Ford there was flooded many years ago).

Glad I cleaned round the base of the Finborough Road mile marker a few months back!

Did this walk yesterday but reversed the route. Great views over Stowmarket. Mud but not water free!

Just for the record there is no public footpath/right of way from the bottom of Boyton Hall Drive (Combs Lane end) up to Boyton Hall Cottages it is a private road. The official footpath is up the field from Finborough End Combs Lane and will come out past Boyton Hall Cottages where you can then walk up the concrete drive towards Boyton Hall.

Oops! Sorry about that! I will correct that in the next video. Many thanks for letting me know. I knew it was private as in you can’t drive up there, but I thought it was a footpath. Thanks for the update. As I said, I’ll correct that in a future video.

I recall a year or two ago I was walking to town and stopped in the bottom of Slough Hill because I saw something lying in the grass there which I was not expecting. It could have been a boar as it was a dark colour and looked just like an oversized pig. It was curled up and I don't know if it was sleeping or if it had been hit and put there off the road but it gave me such a surprise! It was still there when I returned from town but it had gone the next time I passed a few days later. I don't know if anyone else saw it and can confirm what it was?

Not quite the majestic hills and mountains from your videos, but it was beautiful in the frost. Not done this one before so it was a discovery for me too. Thanks for watching. 👍

Another nice walk Don, how long did it take you to walk it.

Thanks Les. Just checked the little route animation at the start of the video which says 2.5 hours. But bear in mind, filming a walk can sometimes double the walk time. But I reckon just walking it without rushing, just under 2 hours.

I agree about the idea of houses by the wash, madness! I’ve not been in that wood since the 90’s but never saw any wild boar! My dad grew up in Combs village and went to the school there. There is a house and a path named after my Grandfather in the village. Your walk is one my dad enjoys with his sister. I asked him why it’s called Jacks Lane and he said you used to be able to buy Black Jack sweets there! My inner lie detector tells me this is not true! However he said that it goes to Jockeys Hall so may be a variation on that.

what a stunning blue sky.. I can see why they say Suffolk has big skies.

Yep. As much as I long for Lake District hills at the moment, we are so fortunate to have the big Suffolk skies. Thanks for watching.

The Farm House as you join Jacks lane is called jockeys hall and the lane in front goes to Jacks Farm

The Farm House is Jacks Farm. Jockeys Hall is along the lane that joins Jacks Lane which is called Jockeys Lane.
