Straight neck syndrome is often wrongly approached.
Of course, it can arise from an accident.
But repetitive chiropractic adjustments and cervical manipulation are not going to fix it just like that! You need to fix some of the causes by yourself.
Let me show you why certain neck exercises must be avoided, and why you need to focus on forward head posture (FHP)....

Really love this! Went to both a chiropractor and physical therapy for this and both gave me exercises to try to reduce this but I'd always wake up with pain (maybe a day or two after treatment). Stopped treatment, stopped the exercises and stopped pain meds.. within a few days my neck felt much better. Still have some issues now and then but not nearly as bad so going to try the program you mentioned. Thanks for sharing!

Hello, I loved the way you described everything and explained it, I found your video because last year I had an injury while doing jujitsu and my neck got straight, yesterday I had an accident on the street and felt on my tailbone so hard that all my muscles protected me and are contracted. Went to have x rays and the first dr said: you had a whiplash and i immediately left. I mean no….what if my neck just stayed straight from a year ago? And what if its just contracted due to the fall? I just found out I have cervical lordosis in a CT scan. I’ve been having lots of pain in my neck and back. I’ve also been dealing with reactive cervical lymph nodes and we are still trying to figure out what the cause is. Is it possible that the inflammation from the lordosis is causing them to be painful?
@_____rnld
@_____rnld 9 месяцев назад
There is a normal degree of cervical lordosis. Your physician should note if the radiologist report says that the cervical lordosis is too much, or if it is physiologic (normal). If it is abnormal in the CT, the best practice is to do an upright cervical spine lateral X-Ray (when you are standing up) to confirm if you actually have an abnormal cervical spine curvature or if it was only your positioning while you were lying down during the CT. Anyway, you should seek physiotherapist advice. I’m a radiologist.

Now I’m taking vitamin D supplements, because I suspect a lack of it is what caused my thyroid to act up. Hopefully it is, because I really don’t wanna take meds my whole life.. It's often a kind of a chicken / egg question indeed. But the way we tackle is by not caring about the causality 😂 ... or almost not. Actually, we try to limit the time we waste on trying to analyze; as soon as we know enough we define a hypothesis, we focus on where we can intervene and wait to see the results. If nothing changes, we change the hypothesis.

@@grannyjone hey friend think some of what’s working for me might help you too. In my case I had to learn new ways to use my eyes and neck together to give me the option of correcting the curve but as I have more cooperative muscle, I’ve been using something I have called a posture pump to help with the reversed curves in my neck and lumbar spine. I’ve been using it very conservatively to keep from getting neurologically sick because of how screwed up everything is from the curve reversal. Even with how bad my neck structure was and even being told I’d never recover ... I’m getting over the movement disorder and my neck is actually starting to straighten out. It’s been a year long endeavor but my whole spine is in much better shape. Much less hunchbacked, much less twisted up, spine has strength to hold me up etc. starting to see no reason I won’t get my lordosis back. if I could do it with dropped head syndrome, it’s definitely possible for anyone to recover. A planet fitness membership was a far better investment than any money I gave to doctors 👍 That posture pump can be simulated with a towel actually. Held behind the head while you work on the “yes/no” motion is your neck. Then the trick for me is staying active and looking for opportunities to hold my head up differently . Think gym, dance, hiking barefoot... whatever. I also benefit a lot from chiropractic care but only since I started going to someone very conservative who actually doesn’t do much with my neck. He mostly tries to get the upper back just a little looser so I can let my brain heal the neck the way it knows best. It’s a slower approach for me but it is definitely working!

I'm always very cautious with joint manipulation: it's a very hazardous thing to do when you are not trained to do so (and even when you are, it can cause quite some harm - cf the many testimonials on this channel of people who have seen a chiropractor). Furthermore, if your neck isn't shaped properly, there must be a reason for this. Forcing the curve won't fix it, and forcing may REALLY cause quite some trouble. Hence, imo.: RUN AWAY FROM THAT 😅

@OlivierGirard
@OlivierGirard Год назад
To be very honest, I don't (want to) have an opinion on very precise invasive therapies. 1 because it's not my job, and 2 because it's so dependent on the situation. The only thing I can tell you is that: - my biggest client in Switzerland is the invalidity insurance, and many cases are about interventions that were supposed to go well but didn't - many of the other cases are about cases that were treated at symptomatic level rather than causal level (that's what I explain here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GhHBvTvLYmM.html). To cut a long story short, I would never let anyone go through my skin if I wouldn't have done everything that is not invasive before, unless there would be an immediate threat to my health (e.g. instability somewhere).

The Chiropracter just wants to perform adjustments every time, 3 times a week, and little else, and suggests carrying on with adjustments indefinetely until there is improvement. However, it has gone worse, the symptoms are now aggravated more easily, but the chiropractor still suggests on going adjustments. Can chiropractic adjusts cause damage to military neck ? I have told him about what this video is saying but he just replied with something like "I have had patients come here with a straight neck and had over 100 adjustments and done well". I have had nowhere near that many to the neck so far, maybe just 10 or so, but I'm worried I might be making it worse in the longer term. But I have tried everything else and nothing worked, and the chiropractor is like a last resort
@boost-9689
@boost-9689 Год назад
Try looking at overall spine balance, muscle strength or mobility deficits. The forward head posture may only be the symptom of other imbalances elsewhere. If those are correctly identified and addressed appropriately, it may help with your neck and shoulder issues. You can be 'over-adjusted' from frequent adjustments. Joints can get hypermobile and it will cause more issues. Do not allow yourself to be pressured into continuing treatment. Your body is already telling you it's worse. Trust your instincts. I get that this is already the last resort treatment. But you gotta be willing to walk away if it's not helping.
