To everyone on here saying that we are all hiding behind labels, it's who we are, who we want to be and who we aspire to be. I am labelled constantly, emo, freak, geek, weirdo, goth, do you think I'm hiding behind them. We label ourselves to have somewhere to belong, that we feel we fit in and are excepted for who we are and because we want to be a better person. You shouldn't just judge a book by their cover, there is no point in putting people down for no reason.

I'm straight edge because I don't wanna attribute anything I do or say to a vice. All of my decisions will be mine and mine alone.

Nice to see some love for South Bay hardcore, it needs all the recognition it can get. Good job focusing more on personal interpretation and anecdotes, as it really gave the video some traction given the broad topic.

I'm Straight edge, and i believe that medical marijuana is completely fine, because it is helpful and beneficial to your health. Drugs were created for medical purposes only, and they are supposed to help. But when they are used recreationally, that is when it becomes dangerous. Straight edge people only refrain from the consumption of recreational drugs, alcohol, etc.

Must be really hard resisting something that nobody is make you do.

(Rather than beef) No it's like Detroit hip hop cipher, I kept getting slaughter on the mic, then I realized I didn't want to pursue hip hop, I really just liked indie rock more -- though I was african American - I didnt want to just be clever and diss people and try to maintain coolness always, I'm not really a hip hop spirit though I like it time to time, there's hip hop then there's Chicago raves -- K Records - beyond the trails my parents made - Even they didnt know everything about Chicago - those were my friends, my parents didnt teach me all I know, that would be strange, though they showed me a lot -- I'm starting off by talking about my mom, that's reminiscent of DC punk scene, minor threat famous local hardcore DIY band started when band singers mom let them host shows at their house, which was a big blossoming for the scene... Echoing that, I now live in a house with another family of punk spirit and we share art and music, we are eachothers audience, though we are a lot more shy than the classic hardcore scene.., not really pursuing fame or even venues the music just is as it is, could be called Maryland fairy punk scene -- We were selfish perhaps, we didnt really try for exposure, after the very beginning, we made videos and sent songs but it was just for the sake of that, not to go platinum... not only out of principle but just out of sensitivity, punk yet introvert. Kind of like a pink Floyd/syd barret incarnation in the punk world, except a lot less ego... Straight edge, but smoking marijuana, taking mushrooms, meditating, we rode the wave of Animal Collective and bad brains (becoming good hearts ;P) and restored the psych folk happy humor haiku vibe to a largely angsty eastern punk scene .. Still we encouraged a philosophy of moderation rather than excess, adding an Ayurvedic tinge to Ian Mackaye (Fugazi, minor threat)'s theories of no drinking, no sex(hopefully madturbation though), no cigs, just music, without filler.. Punk yoga - we didnt really use the conspiracy ideas or the compass directions, we didnt really write song lyrics , just one or two repeated lines mostly, it was truly punk, not composition but happy rawness - Punk documentary on band with way too many names and no names lol - Oh yeah and I also dropped out of high school on lsd and miraculously survived way better than i thought outside of a urban or hip hop / drug dealing setting , as an unsigned unpopular musician not even really performing for anyone, just through meditation! Go hippies! Inspirational kundalini awakening story here... Lucid states.. I'm feeling it only had to be acknowledged. Grateful life.. To me it's what indie is about, I feel I won lottery, that's all - horse with no name
