Was hoping to hear “Strange Brew “ when I saw Cream back in the day but Jack Bruce started the show by telling us all they were not going to play “ Sunshine of your love “and that they were going to play some new songs. They proceeded to play songs from the “Wheels of Fire “ album. Needless to say we were impressed beyond words. They played “Cross Roads “and we were all blown away. In typical Cream style the song lasted a good fifteen minutes. Jack Bruce fell off the stage and was promptly lifted back on stage by the audience. At the time I had been playing guitar for about two years and had been in a band for about a year. I’ll never forget that night. Tickets to the show were $5 bucks. It was concrete floor “seating “ , in the basement of the the newly built convention center in downtown San Diego what seems like a lifetime ago.
The Solo on "Strange Brew" is almost note for note the Solo on "Oh Pretty Woman" by Albert King on Born Under a Bad Sign. They are 90% the same solo. Albert is in Box 2 in A minor pentatonic and I think Eric plays it in Box 4. Albert played it first by the way. :)
In strange brew the walking part doesn't change when the chords change. It is always 5-7 on the A and D string the whole way through. It also doubles a couple of the notes
I would agree with you there although I've always played it 6-7 instead of 5-7 but with doubled notes at times but that's my way,it all sounds good in the end :)
