We have so many roundabouts, nearly every intersection where I live is a roundabout

I think there is a rethink on big roundabouts on very busy routes. Recently have 2 largish roundabouts (on an arterial road) converted to lights in a big provincial area on the east coast. Largish as in not as big as those roundabouts you see in the ACT.

Your internet query. You practically answered it yourself. Australia has a very large land mass and a population under 25 million. One of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. To do a comparison, the USA is about the same land mass as Australia but with 330 million people. The UK fits into Australia about 40 times and you have what, 60 million people. You have affordable high speed internet because the cost per person to provide that service is affordable, given the area of coverage. Australia doesn't have that luxury.

Am I the only Australian here that was completely triggered by this video? 1. What’s wrong about having a queen on our coin? 2. Wtf is a bungalo??? It’s just a normal HOUSE. 3. Queenslanders sound nothing like me and the people around me in the Western Australia. 4. WE HAVE SO MANY ROUND ABOUTS?!?!?! Like in a 10 minute drive there’s like 5 or more round abouts! 5. My internet is completely fine, aswell as all the places I go. I have nothing against this girl or her channel but this video just annoyed me because a lot of this was not true. She made Australia sound so much worse than it is.

Don't have roundabouts??? Where do you live, woman? I live in Sydney and I grant you there are no roundabouts in the CBD but there are bazillions of them in every suburb I've ever driven through. Get another internet provider. No, we don't have a 'BBC', we have an 'ABC'. Since we irritate you so much, may I suggest a remedy?

The reason that there are no regional accents in Australia is that we are the only people in the world who speak English without an accent.

The adverts you are describing we would call 'infomercials'. We have followed the American model for morning television where all the infomercials essentially sponsor the costs for running the morning program. I hate watching the infomercials so if I want to watch the news I would tune into sbs or abc instead of 7,9 or 10 😊 I hope you're enjoying your time here in Aus 😊

England has so many different accents because its a very old country, and in the past, people didn't move around much. They were born, lived and died in the same area. Australia is a much younger country and we move around a lot. And like everyone else has said, we have lots of roundabouts.

I'm a little confused (but interested) about one comment. Does a bungalow mean larger than an average house size in the UK, or larger?
@laurawestlake
@laurawestlake 6 лет назад
EsfahanKellie it doesn’t necessarily mean larger, we just build upwards rather than outwards. Obviously Australia has a lot bigger land mass than England so we need to save room some how
@TenOrbital
@TenOrbital 6 лет назад
I think, when they say 'bungalow' they mean a regular, modern detached suburban house. An older, traditional-style dwelling would be called a 'detached house' or in a rural setting, a 'cottage'

In Australia if you talk about a "Bungalow" most people will think you are talking about a "Granny Flat" unless you specify a "California Bungalow" style of house
@princessannoir3323

A bungalow is a word used when I was a child to describe a small sleep-out or dwelling in the grounds of a house. Some houses were described as Californian bungalows. What an obnoxious woman.

Regional accents do exist. We do have roundabouts, but not everywhere. You have a wifi router which is why you have bad 'reception'. Alcohol is expensive and strong. Who watches TV, let alone in the morning? Adverts = capitalism in action.

As an Australian: 1. Yeah honestly not sure about the whole coin size thing, BUT we’re not ashamed about once being an English colony. 2. Lol not sure where you living are but our houses are not all bungalows, I think that’s only really coastal houses! 3. Our accents are the same just different strengths! 4. We do totally have roundabouts lol 5. The internet problem is a national tragedy, honestly. 6. I’m pretty sure it costs so much because of taxes, our government is trying to reduce our bad drinking culture (don’t quote me on that though) 7. I’m sorry you met so many proper gross men. 8. Lol I think you’re talking about the infomercials, they’re just paying extra to be included inside the show-it’s better advertisement. Tune in for the 6 o’clock news! but I hope that you get to visit more of Australia and absolutely love it! xx

@adamknight5089

Nah we don't the only accents are from the ethnic mix, like Indians, asians, etc. All Aussies sound the same..
@annalisefrost8275
@annalisefrost8275 6 лет назад
We do have different accents. There's the strong bogan accent and then general accent which is less harsh than the bogan one. I'm from the South Coast but I have a mix between the two. There's the well spoken Aussies who sound a bit English who don't have any English connections. Then there's the ethnic accents. Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney have slightly different accents if you're native from those cities. It really depends on whrer you're from and who you grew up around. You probably haven't noticed or been exposed to it before.
@BurntNickenChugget
@BurntNickenChugget 6 лет назад
Linguists actually did a study and broke up Australian accents into 3 parts; Broad, General and cultivated. There's nothing saying you're accent can't be mixed, just like any other country you may have a mixed accent but it's going to be mixed with one of those three. Even mine is mixed because of my family's background but that doesn't change the fact that there's three AUSTRALIAN accents

@alliebenson4653
@alliebenson4653 6 лет назад
I don't know where in Australia you're living, but we definitely have roundabouts. You probably won't see many in the inner cities but as soon as you get to the suburbs you will find them everywhere. There are more roundabouts than I could point a stick at. Also, we do have regional accents, but they can be more subtle than in the UK and they cover larger areas. For instance, people from NSW and Victoria will sound pretty similar, but people from Tasmania, the Northern Territory and Queensland generally have a broader accent, and people from South Australia have a more formal accent. The internet is generally fine, I think you just got unlucky with your internet provider. And we don't call it a 'bungalow', just a 'house', and a house with more than one storey would be a 'two-storey' house. A bungalow is not equivalent to 'home'. I went out to bars and nightclubs all the time while I was at uni and not once did I exclusively see 'moustaches, long hair and long hair'. I don't know what night spots you've been going to but there's plenty of diversity - maybe you need to try some new places? Booze is quite expensive and you can never buy it at a supermarket - you have to go into a specific bottle shop even if it's attached to a supermarket. I'm pretty sure the coins are based on weight not size - the $2 coin is heavier than the $1 coin and so on. I do agree with you about morning TV though - I can't sit through it either, I find the infomercials (as they are called) mind-numbingly boring and tedious.

Wtf is a bungalo? And we have millions of roundabouts, don't know where you got that from. And what's an internet box? Do you mean the router or modem? That has nothing to do with the internet infrastructure, the wireless signal strength from the modem depends on distance and from your device plus any walls the signal has to pass through.

I don't really get why everyone complains about the internet. I used to have adsl2 broadband, and now I use my unlimited data off my phone. Even with my phone I can watch 1080p youtube, live TV, download movies, Web pages are quick to load, music streaming, pretty much anything I gotta do... Only issue I could possibly see is if your a gamer perhaps? Though even then I've got a couple mates who can sometimes game with there own mobile data

The thing about the $2 coin was made very apparent to me when I visited New Zealand. They have a $2 coin that is large than their $1. It was odd to me having to remember that the $2 is the bigger one. "Thong" is a word that means something to do with cords and strips of leather. Likely the reason "flip-flops" get called that is the idea that they are basically a shoe-sole held on by a thin strip - a "thong". The type of panties? Is also a garment held on by a "thong". I would presume "bungalow" has some sort of technical meaning that we simply don't use it for. I do find the irony of how few accents we have compared to Britain amusing. America's variety is understandable because it's huge, but Australia? We have like three accents, upper class, average, and country. Maybe four if you also add suburban bogan. It depends on what town you are in whether you have roundabouts or traffic lights. Yes, the internet is crap, and upgrading to the NBN has been a shit-show because the government has not wanted to spend the money. I don't drink alcohol, but I am kinda glad because of the expense. Yep, morning TV shows are full of infomercials. Also, yes, Britain used to own us. Isn't it great we did the independence thing without a war? It means we still consider the Queen of Britain to be our Queen as well. Except those annoying republicans.

If you want good signal, dont have a shitty router. Australian internet is fine. Alcohol is expensive yes, but I have no idea what you're doing to find Smirnoff on special for $50. Smirnoff at the big chain alcohol stores, and most other "basic" 700mL brand bottles will be $40-$45, on special for as low as $30-$35. Expensive? Yes. Are you exaggerating? Also yes.

If you weren't so attractive, I wouldn't of watched the entire video. Mountains out of molehills comes to mind. Eg: the $2 & $1 coins. The $1 coin was first, then the $2 came along. Nobody wants them to get bigger. Agree though about breakfast TV, it horrendous. They are called infomercials, they pay for the show. And we have more commercials, but don't pay a tv license. The commercials pay for our free to air.

All your "observations" make you sound incredibly provincial. Surely the coin thing is bleeding obvious - the more recently introduced coins have gotten smaller.

Omg there is so much wrong with this video. 1. The coins don’t need to be in order of size according to the coin. 2. We don’t need to have accents. 3.We have lots of round abouts. 4.We have good wifi. U just have bad wifi. Stop dissing us. 5.Congrats why are you buying beer 6.Research 7.Not true about clubs. 8.It’s called they pay for their add to be shown and it’s not always long adds 9. If u like it then why the whole video have you been complaining? Ok wow that was long. I’m not gonna watch another video of this

karl Kruger I’m studying politics and French at Europe’s 3rd top university for social sciences. I think you might like to retract your comment and stop being prejudiced as you don’t know who I am from one 10 minute video.

Why is it funny that the Queen is on our money? No roundabouts? Bad internet? You are completely clueless.
