Imagine being transported into a dimension where you’re surrounded by places like these where you can’t exactly recall where you’ve seen them, but they bring in this sense of familiarity. And the only way you can go home is by identifying at least one of the places and where you’ve seen it. That would be absolute hell.
I did once, when i was camping trip. I live in SEA, a common scene of forest, wet soil, papaya trees, a whole block of sugarcanes. Enough to confuse you when waking up, i thought it was home for a solid 15 minutes, until i need to go to the convenience store. "oh damn yeah i forget, this is mountain camping."
1:44 someone took this image of an ikea playplace completely empty. However you can see the reflection of glass and see a face. The funny thing is this ikea is one bus stop from my house in Brooklyn.
0:40 This one has got to be one of the scariest pictures for me -Abandoned (obviously) -Huge structures -Being able to see them underwater -All indoors
Quiet kid: My house isn't that weird, c'mon! Enter! His living: 0:20 His backyard: 1:00 The outside: 3:20 His room: 1:40 His kitchen: 2:00, 2:40 His dinner table: 4:00 His pool: 0:40 The guest room: 3:00 His friend: I don't want to imagine the bathroom... *_T h e B a t h r o o m :_* *_3:40_*
These types of images make me feel the same way I felt when I walked down the empty school hallway when it was dark outside, also I might feel this in my dreams too. It's kind of a mix between feeling uncomfortable, calm, sad, and curious.
why i think these feel familiar: each of them seem abandoned, yet look like they used to be so lively & happy. it creates an odd atmosphere where you feel nostalgic thinking of how many memories were made there. they all seem so happy. and a simpler reason is it seems like something that'd be common within the normal dreamscape.
0:56 POV: You're in the real life version of Delfino Pier from Mario Kart Wii, hiding in the underground portion with one balloon and hoping your team will win on their own, the rising water slowly forcing you to the surface
0:40 is literally a memory of mine from when i was little. i can't remember what but i had a dream like that. it gives off such weird vibes that it's almost nostalgic in a way?
I kinda teared up while watching this, mostly because I was so scared, I don’t know why, my brother was right across from me, but this just sent chills down my back. The perspective, the rooms, the music all force me into the person standing in the room And The loneliness adds to it as well, probably the reason I get so unnerved. If there was atleast 2 people, hanging around the back, around my age talking to each other I’m sure I wouldn’t feel scared at all... I really like these videos!
not really. "liminal space" is a bit more generic (the Backrooms, for example, are thoroughly liminal without necessarily being familiar), but they are often used interchangeably.
@sleepy. I may not have emphasized the "necessarily" part enough. I would've been surprised to learn that nobody found the Backrooms familiar, but the familiarity isn't necessary to their liminality. I personally don't find them familiar, yet I still find them just as liminal as liminal spaces that I do find strangely familiar.
3:20 When I seen this I instantly knew I had been to this place, so I went into Google Maps and went to where this photo was taken, everything was identical, and I am sure this is my middleschool.
1:45 I swear this one is probably an IKEA. I remember being a kid and going to this IKEA in New Jersey and my parents left me in their “kid zone”, it was basically a giant ball pit/playground where they had workers watch over kids while their parents shopped. I remember a giant fake birch tree and rock wall exactly like that one, and I also remember panicking because my parents just left me there and I had no idea why haha... I was just screaming non-stop until an employee got my parents to come back and get me. ...But yeah I feel like that’s what that is. An IKEA play zone for kids, just with all the toys and plastic balls taken out of it. Almost positive of that.
0:01 - You've went inside and don't know what to choose 0:20 - I wonder where this leads to? 0:40 - The water's fine but something's off 1:00 - Someone's crying in that house, just leave it 1:20 - They don't appreciate guests, Get the hell of here! 1:40 - I guess it's up to you, Go inside that tree 2:00 - Don't even think about fitting through that hole, Close your eyes and count to 10; then the door has now appeared 2:20 - Don't mind that, just keep walking 2:40 - This isn't the right place, Find a way out! 3:00 - You've made it out, but it gets darker; Gladly you found a flashlight 3:20 - I'm glad you've found a light source, you should go inside now 3:40 - I wonder where this leads to? 4:00 - It's daytime now, but don't go out yet; Try opening that door
...I was the cause of the Boards Of Canada in this vid, Here's what happened: I was watching one of the videos Float made, when i got the idea: "What if i recommended a song in the comments?" And so i did that, so i commented that i wanted "Audiotrack 8b" in the next video... Nothing. Commented again on the next video... Comment. Hearted. And i was like: "IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED" when this vid came out i instantly went "ehehe clicky clicky!" sadly, "Audiotrack 8b" was not in the video, but there was still BoC, so yeh.
poggers though I’ve never heard of audiotrack 8b, is it some kind of unreleased track? Sounds like something they’d have released around the MHTRTC days lol
0:40 really scares the sh*t out of me. It looks exactly like a place I used to visit in my dreams when I was younger. And everything was just so quiet, lonely and off with It. Idk, It really makes me feel unconfortable.
Me: hmm this place seems familiar to me, wonder where i've seen it before.. Also me: *clicks on another video with the same title from another channel* The video: *shows the exact same picture from the previous vid* Me: hmm this place seems familiar, wonder where have i seen it before..
It caught me off guard the moment I first started to hear "Ready Lets Go" by Boards Of Canada begin to play; Geogaddi is a fantastic album!. (As well as their other music; I've been listening to this Scottish band for years!.) Overall, nice videos man! Keep up the great work!.
When I saw the picture at 1:41 ,my jaw dropped and I was so shocked bc I've been to this place! but it was many years ago. Behind the white tower thingy is a spider web climbing net,and on the right side of the ball bath (idk how to call it) is a big wooden staircase
0:47 “The stairs weren’t leading into the water, they were leading to the air.” 1:36 “All the flights had been canceled, except the one I was on. That’s why they were trying to stop me.” 1:44 “This is where I met the little ones. Unfortunately, this is the last time they would see me.” 2:13 “It was storming bad outside, and whatever the hell just came in wanted out of it.” 2:23 “I dropped the bait in the water and then dropped my fishing rod in shock. Gators aren’t supposed to glow... are they?” 2:49 “I relived that one day, where I had to be awake during the procedure. I pleaded to stop watching but, they aren’t persuaded easily.” 3:30 “The bell rung, but no one was there to usher us to class. But there were people that weren’t supposed to be there.” 3:47 “I did it, I made it out. Unfortunately, so did they.” Edit: Kept adding until I finished the video, and finished it so now they’re ready.
I imagine a dream where I go there with like an older person but in real life that persons dead but in the dream they're alive and its a lucid dream so i know that they are dead so i cry in the dream cause i know this is not real
0:00 that reminds me of places like REI where you can test shoes 0:21 that makes me think of the stairwell to that school you almost joined 0:41 that reminds me of nightmares ive had about public pools 1:05 that reminds me of every england movie 1:25 that is every airport ever mixed with the backrooms 1:43 that is the hotel playroom thing you were never allowed to play in right next to a bar 2:03 that reminds me of that home one of your relatives is renting 2:24 that is when you visit the beach for the first time at night and you realize how creepy it actually is 2:45 that is the lab at the aquarium you peeked into when you were a kid 3:08 thats just black 3:22 that is the middle school at night i feel like these timestamps are repeating 3:43 that is the bathroom at any public area that involves water or the bathroom at a school that tricked you and was only for teachers 4:03 that is your dads office’s cafeteria after your dad shuts the lights off to go home
Boards of Canada are my favorite band because of how accurately they’re music can represent my dreams and how they’re music can make me feel like I’m in a place I’ve never been before. Overall, they make perfect music for these types of videos.
Btw I actually caused the boards of Canada songs in this video cuz i recommended Float to use a BoC song in his last video. (silent hill music with claustrophobia images) Also i agree with you.
If you're looking for more soundtracks for these types of videos I feel like the Umineko ost might be of use to you. 'Eternal Chains', 'Lure', 'At Death's Door' etc.
The fact that this hits closer to home because these pictures are trying to trigger childhood memories, and I dont have anything other than childhood memories
1:40 wait, I might have been there when I was 6, also, i think I saw something like that in a dream, can you please tell me where u got this pic from ?
It feels like if I take my eyes off of them Im going to notice people standing there looking at the camera and its both the worst and BEST feeling ever
Pretty sure the photo at 1:40 is just an IKEA playground, I remember being dropped off and going to one as a kid while my parents/grandparents looked around and shopped, and those playgrounds looking nearly identical to the image.
3:00 scared the shit out of me i swear it feels like you wake up in the middle of the night when you're a child and you sleep next to your baby sibling facial recognition is heightened in the dark and everything looks like an uncanny monster
It’s so relaxing to see these images, they transport me into another dimension or era where I’ve been already , they’re familiar to me and bring me back some nostalgia probably because of malls in the early 2000’s
Dude!! Even though this triggered my anxiety, I actually thought up some stories for a few of these :3 (best way to make use of your time during quarantine) ( takes out pen and paper ) imma just write these down so I don’t forget :D I might fix or change them but for now, I’m writing down what I came up with.... 0:00 - ( still thinking for this one ) 0:40 - ( still thinking for this one ) 1:20 - (edit: I’ve started working on my own lore and story for these things which had heavily changed since I last wrote this) now first off, pretend this room has no lights, second, this building is long abandoned. There was a massive world wide blackout. Ya da ya da, paranormal investigator ( yes I’m going that route, shush) goes around and investigate stuff and happen upon a hospital ya da ya da..... ( claps ) time skip! Now for the interesting part! ( picture this, you’ve been walking along pitch black corridors for a few minutes now, all the rooms you’ve looked into are empty, no patients resting off their illnesses or doctors roaming the halls in search for their assigned rooms..... it’s just empty.... cut to an hour later, you start to hear the sound of a heart monitor beep coming from the Evp recorder you brought with you.... you turn it off but the sound of the beeping keeps getting louder until it’s the only thing you can hear. You fall unconscious, although it doesn’t feel any different from the darkness that surrounded you seconds ago. Moments have gone by until you wake up, but you find yourself lying in one of the hospital beds. You try to get up but you can’t. You look towards the doorway your facing and see a diamond shaped white light that was progressively getting closer to you, in an eerily slow manner. The closer the light got, the dimmer and blurred your vision became and the weaker your body felt ( like the feeling you have before throwing up kind of weak ). As the diamond shaped light hung over you and you closed your eyes, there was the faint sound of a flatline..... it was yours..... ) 3:40 - ( still thinking for this one )
1:40 that's the IKEA playground, once a boy pissed in the ball pit it and they had to block the ball bit, i seriously want to go back to the place but only the age limit is 10 years old so i can't.
0:00 Wh- Again, seriously? 0:20 That noise... it hurts. 0:40 I always hated swimming. 1:00 Oh yeah, this house. 1:20 Grandma’s hospital? 1:40 Why the hell am I in an IKEA? 2:00 What. Is. Going. On. 2:20 Algae is off the hook. 2:40 A kitchen... I think. 3:00 (I can’t see...) 3:20 A voice... “I love”? 3:40 What is this place? 4:00 *THIS PLACE IS NOT SAFE*
1:40 Holy shit i remember those, Ikea had these play places for children to be at while their parents were shopping there. I was once alone at one of these, and it was a strange experience.
1:10 this image gives me vibes of doing morning activities on a camping event at 8 AM Also, out of all liminal spaces photos I have ever seen this one is my favorite
(I'm Italian so sorry for my bad English) These videos bring me back to when I had mental problems and I was often sick and anxious or I felt extremely lonely for no reason. I feel very similar to how I felt those days watching these places, and it freaks me out. I don't think I'm ever going to watch a video like this in the future.
i feel like there should be a series about a normal rational family moves in to a town with this stuff in it, with their house being the only normal thing there
