Who better to talk about Stranger Things 4 than the Duffer brothers? From Eddie to Max to Vecna/Henry/001, watch as Matt and Ross Duffer break down the ending of S4.
@@mikess308 a season full of great acting scenes. Like even Dustin crying over eddie or when he spoke to his uncle. The one acting performance scene that made me forget I was watching a show and thought I was looking at some actual traumatic tragedy, was when Lucas was crying trying to console Max. Goddamn
Ironically, Vecna hated humans because they destroy everything but then he goes to the Upside Down which appears to be a pretty peaceful place and takes over the Mindflayer for his bidding and, in turn, does exactly what he was accusing humanity of.
Let Will take the main stage in season 5. He's been sidelined for the past two seasons. Also, let him smile for more than 5 minutes. That boy has had so much trauma in his life. He deserves to be happy.
@@defonot.hannah honestly nothing against Will, but what does he offer besides his connections to the upside down? I get it , he basically started the series when he went missing. But he isn't interesting. We get it , he's gay but that's not even interesting. Every other character has good qualities. Will and maybe Johnathan are just there.
I understand that the script was written ahead of time which probably makes Eddie's death more painful. He just added a lot to the group and was the best "let's add a new character and then have them killed" character and I think it would have been really great if he stayed for season 5.
@@TheChameleon2008 Bringing in a new character that's likeable to die isn't bad ass literally every show does this. Stranger things has done it the previous two seasons lol
Stranger Things is one of the best series I've ever watched. The storyline, actors, background music and effects were exceptional. Most of all, the director, writers, and staffs did an excellent job on making this masterpiece.
I loved looking back and noticing the mannerisms of Billy in season 3 and how similar they were to 001. I noticed it the moment I rewatch! Thank you to Duffers for bringing us such a well written story that keeps on giving!
@@rashmirathnayake3321 David and Dan did not write Game of Thrones, it was all George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. As soon as they ran out of any written material, David and Dan went completely blank, they were just not creatively and intellectually capable of creating anything good. The Duffer Brothers on the other hand are doing it all on their own, and they have already proven themselves.
@@NoOne-jl7bk yeahh.. but they did something great out of the content too we gotta give that to them. GOT is still one of the greatest shows despite the ending. They had the written materials that is true but to create an entire fictional world to a reality that takes creativity and talent. So many book based shows and franchises have failed but GOT didn’t.
@@NoOne-jl7bk and also GRRM was a consultant in the show so he knew what D&D was upto so it’s also kinda his fault too. And he told the press those days this will be very much similar to his ending of the book Winds of Winter too but now he goes on saying it’s not and still he haven’t finished the book. So the show couldn’t wait that long
This season definitely struck at the heart multiple times. With the brotherly love between Will and Jonathan, and Max’s trauma, and Eddie’s death, it’s all pretty heart wrenching.
His death made loads of sense as sad is at it was. Dude was at best a social pariah, at worst he was looking at life in prison. His death was the logical conclusion of his character arc in which he states that he always flees. Nevermind his sacrifice saved not only Dustin, but the team who was killing 001. Him dying was the only way his story was going to end.
Even if he survives, I think he'd just be sidelined since there's already too many characters to follow. Look at Maya Hawke's character, she's no longer as relevant in season 4 compared to her character in season 3. And they said they're going to focus back on the main kids, meaning he would even have less screentime. I think killing him is for the best so that they can still manage the surviving characters. Still he'll be missed.
even though they never thought of vecna towards the end of season 3 filming shows how well this show is actually planned out, they added all those hints that made it seem like there will be a big bad coming in a later season but they were just adding more horror to it, and the reveal of Vecna being in control of The Demogorgon, demodogs, and the Mind Flayer really shows us how good this show is. i don't know how i feel about vecna being in control of the mind flayer but i can appreciate how well the continiuty was
What I’m most shocked about all of this is I’m still finding fans who still think the Mind Flayer controls Vecna or that they are working together. Smh, such idiots who don’t understand the lore. It’s like they closed their eyes and put their fingers in their ears when Eleven said: “it was. It was you. Always you.” And Vecna nods slowly in agreement.
They actually had the whole show planned out beforehand and you can hear the clock is scenes of season 3 and there are other scenes where now that season four is out it all connects
@@jurnee4007 Nope, they hadn't planned the whole show out beforehand. The duffer Brothers were originally going to have season 2 set in the present (2016/2017) but the fan community loved the plot, characters and cast so much that they made it a year later instead. They hadn't come up with the Mind Flayer or Vecna until at least after they made season 1. There are still things that don't make sense like how could the season 1 demogorgon make gates when the season 4 demogorgon couldn't. Don't tell me it was Vecna as you would be wrong. We know from season 4 episode 9 from Vecna himself that he couldn't psychically connect with minds across dimensions and open gates until he "took" that power from Eleven in season 3. He could expand the gates with his telekinesis as shown in season 2 with the mothergate but he couldn’t make them. "so i sought to open my own doors. I sought your power." -Vecna to Eleven. Also, please share timestamps in season 3 where you can hear a clock. Cause I don't remember any.
@@linkeron1 I just remember in an interview when they said before Netflix would talk the show they had to write out the whole story and also there are clock chimes in season 3 when Billy is in the upside down, when the thunder hits you can hear it in the background and apparently there are some on season 1 but I’m not sure about that one
@@jurnee4007 I guess I can hear some clock chiming sounds when Billy is looking at the illusion of him that Vecna made him see. There are two clock like chime sounds in season 1 episode 1 after Will falls off his bike and before he gets up and starts running.
I really need season 5 to focus on the Byers family again. A big part of what made all this characters come together was their dynamic as a family. And I really feel like Will and Jonathan have been incredibly sidelined. They should get the biggest roles of the next season
Even tho eddie won’t appear in 5 they did say in the happy sad confused podcast that his death like barbs, bob, and Billy’s will have an impact this season and hopefully we’ll see that especially with Dustin
The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that Season 5 will pick up where Season 4 left off. “It will be 100km/h from the start. We have already plotted the opening scene.”

I still can't believe this story was made into a TV show/movie, it's totally Amazing! It keeps you coming back for more!! Bravo to the Duffer Brothers! May you guys have even more success in the future!
The mind flayer drawing was awesome I was like 😦 that is what he was drawing! It actually makes so much though especially cause the mind flayer wants to use Eleven, “We been building it for you.” Was such a chilling line 😬
Actually that's the part I didn't like, I very much preferred when the mind flayer was this unknown dimensional monster instead than just a puppet in the hands of a vengeful guy. A lot of the mistery and magic around it is gone. Of course my opinion
Just watched the last episode of season 4, it was definitely one of the best episodes ever, it explained so much that we were wondering about, season 3 had more of the happy vibes for some reason but season 4 feels dark and that they lose, a big twist, I seriously thought half of the main characters were gonna die
I really think they will pull a Luke/Darth Vader "I am your father" with Eleven/Vecna. I think Dr. Brenner got Eleven's mother pregnant using artificial insemenation with Henry's DNA. That would explain how Eleven is so much stronger than the lower numbers besides One.
In The last episode of Volume 1, Henry even says “ and then you were born eleven, and I’m so very glad you were “ Her mom was also a test subject at one point as they mention that in like S1 episode 4 or 6. Jopper goes to elevens moms house They definitely crossed pathways
I Love the duffer brother but I don't believe they planned 001 and the mind flare connection at all lol. I'm thankful that it worked out and most questions have been answered this season though!
I like the openness of their inspiration being Empire Strikes Back - it allows us to look at them side by side and notice more shared DNA. For example when I rewatched ESB recently I realised Max in a coma is the Duffers’ “Han frozen in carbonite”
I'm pretty sure season 5 is going to be chaotic but i really hope they don't push the main characters to the corner like they did with Mike, Will and Jonathan this season also now that they all know the threat and are reunited again. Will definitely has some parallels and connections with Henry/Vecna, i hope they use them well to fight him.
I'm calling it, Venca is hiding in Max. Will is going to be super important as El saving Max will have drained some parts of her power so she won't be able to locate him but Will can.
The question I have about the ending is why when Eleven and her group showed back up in Hawkins and talked to Dustin, they acted clueless like they didn't know what had happened to Max?
It's the 80's. Communication wasn't as fast. People used home phones. Kids didn't have cell phones or endless access to their family phone, etc. Meeting up with your friends right after you got back would be when you found out.
@@oliviaburd3 yea I get that part and it would explain Dustin’s reaction not knowing. But I’m looking for Eleven’s reaction. I mean she was literally there and acts like she has no idea what happened.
@@bobsag1164- that would make sense that she wouldn't tell the rest of her group, too much to process. Also, I thought she was surprised because she thought Max was dead, but then heard she was in the hospital.
Maybe for Dustin. Maybe Eddie's death is going to change Dustin and it will prepare Dustin to face more dark things in season 5. And maybe he will fight in anger of Eddie's death.
And also Eddie was satisfied at the ending at the moment of his death. He wanted to sacrifice, he wanted to be a hero. And he got a chance. It was happy ending of his for him.
Stranger things is no doubt my favorite show I binged season 4 when it came out as if it was the last day on earth and the ending was crazy they are living in a post apocalyptic world now where will this lead to .
Most of us probably think that Vecna will possess Will, but if that happens I hope it won't be the same way Vecna possessed Billy. I hope this time Will will be like a marionette, no facial expressions everytime Vecna speaks through him. That would make it look eerier and more believable in a way instead instead of the cliché defiant attitude when Billy was possessed. What could happen though is seeing Will shedding a few tears when Vecna speaks through him showing that Will is suffering and needs help but never losing the face with no expression.
Something you guys absolutely need to do is have Dustin use his arms that have no collarbones for something important like a fight. It would be very cool to see that since he said he couldn’t fight crime with it back in season 1.
I absolutely love this show but I have to admit Vol 2 felt a bit underwhelming because of the execution. The season should have ended with Max’s death and the 4 gates opening in Hawkins. I felt that the epilogue negated the feeling that our heroes lost. I think this darker ending would have elevated the stakes for season 5.
The Duffers are genius. People say the season is bad because there are so many unanswered questions, but that’s why the season is so good. It’s what keeps fans excited for the next season, otherwise, everyone would just be satisfied and not as eager
Exactly! They said a lot of stuff in season 4 is set up for season 5. Just like how Infinity War set up for Endgame. Not just with the snap stuff, but even Tony talking about his dream of having a kid named Morgan to Pepper in Infinity War was to set up how they actually do have one in Endgame. And of course, Vecna did say that this was only the beginning for the end. I can’t wait to see how it’s all gonna go down.
@@jd2161 By the point whenever season 5 takes place, I’m sure that Max’s bones will have healed with her being in the hospital and as for the eyes, I think Vecna will use his powers to heal them so he can see through them. I think Vecna is going to posses Max so he can manipulate the group into falling into a trap. El will go into Max’s mind to see why she’s acting differently and sees Vecna instead. Therefore, El will realize that Max is being held in a mind prison inside Vecna’s head like all his other victims that he explained, as well as Brenner saying as well. So El will have to go into Vecna’s mind to free Max so she can take control of her body again.
I was mad at duffer brothers because they killed eddie off but then I realized that life was gonna be very bad and complicating for him if he didn't die. Everyone would think that he is a murderer and would end up in jail :D
Yeah that's what the Duffers said, that no matter what there's no happy ending for Eddie, and the best way for him to go is have an amazing character arc and ultimately sacrifice himself :(
Eddie's death was really painful to watch T_T I was seriously betting on him, wishing that he'll be part of the group to take on the Upside World in S5. Also I don't know why I have a bad feeling that El's going to sacrifice herself for Max in S5. But oh gosh I truly hope everyone make it till the end.
These guys have the potential to perfect the death note series they are gonna work on. Like imagine they give a fleshed out backstory on the shinigami realm and the death God's themselves like Ryuk. This is just amazing imo.
idk, on imdb its only their production company that's listed and they're not even listed as part of it, just some random writer and the producers of the 2017 movie. that already is not a good sign.
Eddie’s dead….but are the Duffer Bros really taking out such a pivotal, impactful character for Season 5? How many others have actually died in the upside down and not at the hand of Vecna? Most of the kills we’ve seen are happening outside of Vecna’s world. Even the bodies they show tangled up in the vines, like Barb for example. Was she killed here or there? I wouldn’t count Eddie’s character out quite yet.
i really hope will is the main focus for season 5, it started with him and should end with him. i feel like he’s just been sidelined or kinda forgotten in a way idk i just hope he gets more screen time next season
I wanted the Mind Flayer to be the final enemy, an extraterestrial entity. Not spiderboy gone mad aka Vecna. Vecna being behind everything all along really draws away much of the mystery aspects of the series for me.
I can't sleep after watching stranger things season 4 it's not because I can't wait for season 5 but it's was for that I think everything is over now it's come to end I was waiting for this season 4 for past year but it was sad for me now I have only one season for wait season 4 is very emotional especially the max death scene .. but now I have to say goodbye to season 4 😭
So at least the constant anxiety I have since watching this season (as opposed to every other where I could blissfully forget the show existed till the next one) is designed 🙃😒🙄*thanks*. I got to care so much about all the characters, how am I gonna wait till season 5? At least are all at the same boat I guess so I don't have to feel that crazy for worrying over fictional characters. *Thank you Matt and Ross Duffer*
So mainly, Season 4 is the Infinity War to The Endgame, which will be season 5. Season 3 could’ve been Age of Ultron,or Civil War. Vecna is Thanos, Eddie is Vision, Max could be Wanda, And Steve of course , Tony.

Find out in this spinoff series on Netflix, coming out late 2023. (Disclaimer: Not actually real).🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏
Would’ve been interesting if Vecna actually revealed himself and El would wonder who he is because of her memory being repressed and then Vecna would lift up his claw and force the memories back to her, similar to how he showed Nancy his past and the future
The whole Vecna created the Mindflayer part is stoooopid. It eliminates all the inhuman, cosmic horror elements of the show. Looks like we’re going to get another show killing ending like Game of Thrones.
