Ideal location. So close to the market and the square. Even a block up the hill from the main road it's surprisingly quiet. Price seems steep but always remember....you can negociate. Challenge Carl to arm wrestle & win a discount. DO NOT buy until you've rented here for a year. You wouldn't marry on the first date would you? Shack up before you buy the shack!

This is a beautiful place, but I am a bit discouraged these prices. They are already higher than much of the US. The locals must be being priced out of their own paradise, once again.

Hello, I don't. I live in rural Florida. Comparing the real estate prices here to what I have seen listed in the Vilca area lately, it costs more to buy property there. The "saving grace" would be leaving behind the high property taxes and insurance from here. I think when you guys speak of how much more affordable the houses are there, you are comparing the prices to the larger cities of the US, where the prices are much higher, but Vilca is not a large city. If it is compared to many rural towns in the US, it is similar, or in many cases, higher. I am curious if the other towns around that area that are not so well known might be more affordable. I am considering relocating there, but one of the reasons would be to buy better for less, and when I compare what I understand to be the average ecuadorian wage to the average wage in the US, in relation to price of real estate represented in these videos, it can be disheartening.@@AbundantLivingEcuador

I might have thought the natives would be priced out of their own market....but not so. Put the RE mantra foremost...."Location, location and again lugar". This is a tourist town, a party town for Lojanos and a country home/retirement venue. There are plenty of well to do people in Loja and elsewhere who could afford it as an investment. There are countless other places they can buy property in. The ability to build another structure on this site is a major value add. As for it being as pricy as in the states, depends on location. Hard to do apples and apples. It is impossible to communicate how different living here is. That's what tips the scale. Sample and value the life here. Not that expensive to fly down and see.
