Hyunjin captured my eye pre-debut because of the weirdly limitless potential he has. As a former choreographer he impresses me everytime because he improves at a rate that's shockingly fast as well. He became my Ult because he becomes the music and just doesn't dance. He reminds me of Lay from Exo. He doesn't stick to one dance genre and that's what I love.
Woo I’m happy reaction to my bias Hyunin artist of month he definitely serve faical expression hand movements love transitions lights backup dancers killed it so sync the way he roll his eyes woo the sway shoulder moves hand on his lip woo he know what he doing
Studio Choom ("choom" as in "춤" -- Korean for "dance") is a dance-centered channel characterized by having extremely high-quality, high-def filming of select dance performances. Something shot with Studio Choom's cameras and setup/backdrop is immediately identifiable. A limited number of groups get invited to do Studio Choom "Be Original" videos for some tracks (SKZ has a few, including the first one to hit 50m). An far more limited number of individual dancers were invited to have an Artist of the Month feature (consider: a bajillion kpop groups in the industry, and only twelve people were invited per year). It's a big deal and a huge honor. If you were invited to be AOTM, it was an acknowledgment that you were among the best of the best. (Fwiw, the Studio Choom team said Hyunjin was the best male dancer out of all the AOTMs.) The AOTM performances are not remakes/revisitations of their hits. The dancer and their team select a piece of music (frequently having nothing to do with kpop), come up with a theme/concept (Hyunjin's was mafia), and develop an original choreography piece to highlight the dancer and their skills. This is meant as an opportunity for these dancers to purely be _dancers,_ not kpop performers. AOTM ended with December 2021, after two years and thus 24-ish dancers. Now they have Mix & Match, which instead is a focus on pairs of artists from within a group. Since we'll never get a Lee Know or Felix AOTM, our hope is that one or both of them will eventually get to shine in Mix & Match.
Hyunjin said when he was selected he was surprised and really wanted to push himself. I call Hyunjin is Taemin 2.0. I see the same fluidly in movement and really seems to feel the music, from his body to his eye movements, a smirk or smile, etc. On the YT channel for Artist of the Month, there is a behind-the-scenes video of him preparing for this and working with a choreographer to the other dances and the 3 days it took to film the music video. At one point he's in the dance studio doing a LIVE stream with fans and Changbin calls asking where he is. He tells him it's late and he needs to come home (they live together) he tells the fans, ok I have to go home now. LOL! It's really cute. But you get to see all the hard work and it just makes you proud to see him push himself. Yes, he knows he's what the industry calls "the Face" and he plays into it at times BUT he always strives to be so much more and his hard work is paying off.

The SKZOO performances (God's Menu and Thunderous) are not only hilarious because they're, y'know, grown adults being hyperserious and dancing their asses off while dressed in furry suits (and smacking the sh1t out of each other while causing mild beheadings, in the case of Thunderous), but also because the entire setup -- the backdrop, the style of shots, the lighting, everything -- is meant to mimic the iconic Studio Choom setup and thus enhance the whole "We are Very Serious. Ignore that we're dressed like stuffed animals" vibe.
