STRAY KIDS - "RED LIGHTS" M/V | (REACTION!!) 

This song was made as part of a project called "Howl in Harmony" where they all split into groups and made songs with just a few members each with different concepts. For this song, they intentionally wanted a "sexy" vibe, separate from a lot of what they've done before. Officially, the song is meant to be about obsession. Hyunjin and Bang Chan talked about how with their work, even though they love what they do and love the time they spend doing it, they often spend more time on it than they should. Hyunjin specifically mentioned staying up until early in the morning dancing, and how the face he sees in the mirror looks exhausted, even though he wanted to be there. And Chan talks about how at the end of the day even when he's done with his schedule and has nothing else he needs to do, he still finds himself in his workroom, trying to work on music. However, Bang Chan at least has admitted that the song can give off a different vibe or seem to have a different kind of meaning (and he blames Hyunjin for this lol). The red light is the light of the recording studio and how none of them can stay away, they should be sleeping or can't, but constantly feel drawn to go to the studio work

Well, in theory, according to Bang Chan, Hyunjin wrote the lyrics about obsessing. :) Hyunjin said more work related,- creatively speaking - but I think it’s open to interpretation. Love your reactions, you’ve got a new subscriber.

The song encompasses obsession and compulsion. And yes, love as well. It's about not being able to shut your mind off, the compulsion to do more, do better, keep going. Obsession with work, with Stay, with everything that drives the compulsion. Chan says Hyunjin wrote the lyrics, Hyunjin says Chan wrote the English parts. They are both to blame lol. They have a whole Stray Kids camp that aired before the MVs showing how they workshopped the idea. It's really cool to watch. Love your reviews! This song has stunning vocals, beautiful choreography, and love the multilayer meanings behind it. Lover, ego, societal expectations…you can read this many ways.

The Korean title for the song means obsession/compulsion, and they're using the idea of the difficult complex relationship between two parts of yourself as an artist, being sort of held hostage by your love for the art but overworking and staying up too late and never been able to rest from it. In the video they sort of play the opposite part of themselves to each other so if you notice their movements mirror each other a lot. They also decided to change the writing to say 'you' so it could also be real a little like a song of obsession with a person or a listener. It's basically meant to be a fun sexy song with a deeper meaning when you pick at it.

I had read Red Lights concept was overcoming/fighting your demons and the compulsion to be perfect in all aspects. The choreography they represent the different sides of the same person. If you notice Hyunjin and Bangchan keep switching back and forth as same person in same positions.

Told you, trust me ☺️ It’s about obsession and compulsory feelings and not able to control yourself. According to them in an interview “The song ‘Red Lights’ is about continuing to love endlessly despite all sufferings and red flags.”

The whole concept of the video is that when they were sitting in the hot tub during Howl in Harmony, Bang Chan, told Hyunjin that he had a musical score he wanted him to listen to. When Hyunjin heard it he said that it had a "50 Shades of Gray" feel. He said that at the drop there was some things he (Hyunjin) could add to it. Along with the song "Drive" they are the most provocative so far. I love both of them and as he (Bang Chan) has done to Hyunjin, he blamed Lee Know with Drive. Ha Ha. He does those things, it is natural. Please now can you do God's Menu/ Du Du DU Du mashup they did from Kingdom...ok I am being a pest now. Maybe even Miroh. I love that one too.

Since you’ve seen this video, i would recommend watching the other units’ videos: surfin’ (changbin felix and lee know) and gone away (han in and seungmin). Really different concept each video!

It is Battle of inner self. For Bang Chan and Hyunjin it’s work or music but for you or me it can be love, just anything you are obsessed over. The songs riffs are so good.

So happy you got around to this one. This is Obession at its best. The compulsion to stay in the studio and keep cranking out the hits. Literally giving all you have to the craft. Not about sex or love. But, as a listener, that's the beauty of music. We can play it and feel the music as it speaks to what is going on in our own lives. It's just a great song and MV.

I had to watch as soon as this popped on my feed! One of my all time fav songs by Stray Kids. Bang Chan's voice really stands out here and both he and Hyunjin sound soooo good together. Obsession is indeed feeling trapped or tied up, mentally/emotionally. This piece is so powerful. I admire Stray Kids and their talent so much.

The song can be open to interpretation I guess based on how a person wants to see it. Many Stays like the idea of the guys being into each other. I prefer to go what Chan and Hyunjin said of the song. It's about obsession when it comes to work not sex or relationships BUT using that as the metaphor for the song.

This reminds me of countless things they have said on camera before, but one specific recent quote that comes to mind is Lee Know in the NOEASY album intro video. “Stay is another name for Stray Kids.Sep 12, 2021 I found this on line...my interpretation is its about a love...maybe about the love of fans and then needing a regular life.

The LGBT community is having a hard time in Korea. Progress is slow. Korean music industry is ran by a lot of old sexist, racist homophobic men. The fact that they're seeing the song is actually like a huge thing. They can't say it outright so the stray kids do as much as they can. This song in this video is extremely brave in Korea.

ah yes Drive was written by Lee Know and is about driving and Red Lights was written by Hyunjin and is about being trapped in love…….totally just about those things…..definitely written by those people……nothing else….whatsoever……nothing sexy to see here…not at all (we need Christmas Evel next 😁)
