I remember as a kid in the 90's, those movies were everywhere. The only ones I think I particularly liked were the homeward bound movies... and cats vs dogs to a lesser extent, but it makes me look back and see how much wackier or gimmickier they tried to be, and not necessarily in a bad way.
And while I get... obviously she likes what she likes... but thank GOD it's not.... there is way way WAY too many pg movies like that in the world... it's refreshing to hear a movie like this with zero filter
They’re seriously still making these “CG-mouthed live-action talking animal” movies in this day and age, and it’s actually *_GOOD?!_* Am I dreaming or something?
Wow It's literally taking back to the 90's like the movie Stuart Little 🐁 computerized mouse along with CGI mouth live action movement with the cats doing and it was family movie. but it looks great that something useful could be important for movies nowadays . I believe strays it's gonna be fun for grownups like big kids for decades ago
Watched it last night and the whole theater had a blast, myself included. This is definitely a movie for dog lovers/owners. A lot of references will fly over your head if you've never had experience taking care of a dog. Sure, a lot of shit and piss jokes. But hey. It's a movie about dogs. What do you expect out of cute creatures that mostly eat, pee, poop, and play all day. It's surprisingly heartfelt -- living in abusive homes that can be applied to human-human relationships and getting out of it. The feeling of guilt, self-blaming, gaslighting yourself, breaking free, finding companionship in places that you didn't expect. It's also very realistic. There's tons of stories out there about pet owners abandoning their pets (literally on the streets or woods) bc the pet got old, sick, or owner regretted having them. And you view it from the pet's perspective to see how messed up it is. The ensemble of dogs was adorable. Cute, raunchy, moving at times, very funny. Nothing groundbreaking, but I got my money's worth. Sadly, it doesn't look like the movie will make its money back although I hope it does. I recommend checking it out in theaters. Perfect for a date or group of friends. Do not take your kids! I saw a few 6-10 year olds at my showing.
Wow. Jeremy’s dogs are already 10 years old... I remember when he first got those dogs and he showed them in a video (I think it was the Pacific Rim review). That’s insane. Man I feel old now.
Pretty sure he showed them for the first time in his top 10 movies of 2013 video, when he was talking about Pacific Rim on his ranking Crazy how it's already been 10 years since then
I saw the film last night, and no joke, I tore up a bit by the end. It ended up telling a really poignant and well researched story of how hard it is to break out of a toxic relationship, but still showing how possible it is and how to heal. I've never been in a toxic relationship, but know a few people who have, and it really touched me. The running joke with chocolate did make me laugh, tho.
agreed, that scene at the end made me laugh and cry in relief when they bite his 🍆off whilst playing wrecking ball. Legit more epic then when captain america said "Avengers, Assemble!" In endgame.
I don't know about that I just want to see this movie because of the content and the talking dogs. The previews looked really fun and entertaining and I can't wait to see this movie. I mean you can't go wrong with Foxx and Ferrell.
I find it much funnier when you think you know where the joke is headed but the commedian takes it someplace you didn't at all expect. Anthony Jeselnik is a master of that.
Yall mfers have a hard on for disney. Every movie review I click on. "The fact that insert movie here is better than the new insert disney movie here really says alot about society" Like I get it Disney are a bunch of clowns, but clowning on Disney got old in 2019. 🤡🤡🤡
Raunch comedies arent my thing but Im more than happy for them to make a comeback. For some reason comedies feel so rare these days just cause every film has to be a bland licensed action/comedy.
This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. The "wrecking ball" scene at the end had me DYING! The way they directed that (and the song choice) was absolute perfection.
I agree with the rating. Pretty good movie and funny. Also Until he said 10 years I forgot Gypsy and Danger were as old as the movie. Couple of legend pups right there.
Honestly this movie I loved! I laughed a lot, but I also even shed a few tears because it can be very heartfelt and wholesome at moments. Great job on this one in my opinion!
@@Kerorofan1990 I'm so disappointed it isn't funny. But my local theater does that every now and then. Advertise something, put a lot poster in the lobby, and then never bring the film.
Dude, the director of Bad Education just came out with a new movie. It's called Landscape with Invisible Hand and it's my new favorite movie from the guy. Probably my favorite movie of the year. I really think you'd like it.
I saw this at an early screening in Chicago last week. It definitely has some majorly gross moments where I had to avert my eyes, but otherwise it was pretty entertaining and funny. The theater was packed and everyone was responsive and seemed to be having a great time.
I too had a cat that was named Martin growing up! He was a former stray that used to follow me on my walks to school. Long hair, black cat, fiesty as hell to everyone but me. Miss him a lot. Was a very good boy.
Maybe this comment will be lost in the hundreds of other comments but looking at his dogs reminded me how fast time flies by and how many years I've been watching Jeremy's reviews. I think one thing that will always sets him apart from other reviewers is still the simplicity of his videos (and I say that as a compliment). He never really changed his background, his camera angle, his way of editing and so on. While many RU-vidrs are trying to have the nicest backdrop with the best camera possible, Jeremy seems to keep the ''If it doesn't break, don't fix it'' mentality and still works greatly imho. Sometimes I wonder for how many years he will still do this but I hope it's for a while.
This is probably the most surprising review I've seen. I saw the ads for this movie and rolled my eyes thinking it was gonna be trash, even with Jamie Fox in it, but hell guess i'll have to check it out
I don’t know who would find this movie funny maybe 10 year old me, but 25 year old me laughed at maybe two things in this movie, and shortly realized they are just going for shock value. They literally get in a circle at one point start pissing on each other then refer to each other the rest of the movie as PFFs. God dang dude comedy gold right here I swear will Ferrell you’ve only gotten better with age 😡
I just saw it tonight and I found myself laughing out loud. I know exactly what part you're talking about that made you laugh...because it was hilarious. I hope everyone gets to see this movie.
Gypsi is looking a little timid. While Danger is looking... Well "Dangerous" LOL JK, both doges are looking sharp as always. They will steal anyones hearts.
Probably one of the funnier movies I've seen in years. As far as will Ferrell movies it's up there with step brothers and the end of the movie I died laughing wrecking ball song will never be the same again lmao 🤣
Laughed hard multiple times, especially when you thought 'they're not going there with that joke', and they went there. Agreed, a little jazz cabbage helped with the fun, but it's very rewatchable.
Hello Jeremy. Great review as always! Thank you. If you’re ever looking for a new place to take your pups for a walk, come on up to Lighthouse Park in Mukilteo, WA. Great views of the sound, Olympic mountains, Whidbey Island and Mount Baker. Close to the new Mukilteo Ferry Terminal that goes to Clinton on Whidbey Island. We take our pup to the park a couple of times a day. Hope to see you and your pups there sometime.
i loved it no regrets on seeing it, not a super deep story but if all stories were deep no stories would be so ya gotta enjoy it for what it is, and it is a wholesome laugh with a couple stronger moments, wonderfully filmed
Instant like for Gypsy and Danger alone 😄 when you said "10 year old" puppies, my millennial age denial was triggered, lol, it can't have been ten years
This is subjectively basically Homeward bound for YT/Zoomer Generation. I find it interesting how many raunch comedies have a wholesome, and applicable message despite how R rated they are. Step Brothers was basically about growing up and eventually taking responsibility for the dumb things you do.
