Drew took his moment away himself. He had the title, it was over, he finally did it. But he decided to shove it in Punk’s face and it ended up costing him.
Drew story is that of hypocrisy. He told Seth he’s going to beat him because Seth was focused on the bloodline. Then drew focuses on punk and can’t help but get in his face. And that cost him the title. It’s fucking amazing story telling
The two things I love about this Wrestlemania moment aside from Damian winning... the way Samantha Irvin's voice cracked in surprise, and the glorious height Damian got on Drew for the South of Heaven Chokeslam.

@@Temperance_XVII well not exactly yes Seth cashed in at Mania like Damien but Seth did it during Brock vs. Roman Damien did it after the match ended and after CM Punk whooped Drew with a brace.
I read somewhere on a good theory why Priest didn't cash in on Seth. Seth had friends. If he cashed in on Seth, he always had allies like Cody, Jey or Sami waiting in the wings who could screw it up for him. Drew however, had no allies. Nobody would help him if he was cashed in on.
Totally, dude; on top of just being good as usual, there were three moments where she actually popped; when Sami won, she was super happy; when Priest cashed in, she was totally shocked; and when Cody won, she was so overwhelmed she almost broke down.
The fact a heel like a Damien got cheered THIS MUCH tells me he is over no matter what just like Rhea…well deserved as well, the man is phenomenal and ABSOLUTELY deserves the title!!!

wasn't he also the one saying he was glad for Punk to be there for commentary "as it would make his win even sweeter" (or something like that)? But honestly I like that they gave Drew a +1 on his world title resume...the next time he inevitably wins one he'll be a 4 times world champion. In the 2000s they created more than five 10+ times champions (that I can think of) and I think there hasn't been a single one added in over 10 years now...I want more short reigns to inflate the numbers and no more attempts for a longest reign (at least for a few years now), to give the entire main event scene more cred and not just the top two guys
If im the only one happy with priest being champ , im okay with that because I wanted a successful cash in after those weak ass recent ones (minus iyo) and this was one of the best cash ins I’ve seen , I completely forgot he had the MITB until his music hit 😂🔥
Same here! Damian deserves it for all the work he put in as a WWE performer. His win was the second best thing that happened that night (the first being Cody's win over Roman)!
@@RobertHall85 I don't see it as a way to steal, I see it as a way to almost guarantee change in WWE programming by pretty much ensuring a title change.
It's also made to build up mid card stars to be main eventers. I didn't view him as world champ material and the briefcase was a good way of turning him into one

As soon as Punk was announced as a commentator for the match, I knew this was going to happen. Either A) Drew was going to have Seth beaten down completely. Has the match won and then Punk would cost Drew the win. Clearing the way for Priest to cash in on Rollins. Or B) How it played out on Sunday.
I’ve known for months now that Damian was cashing in at Mania, since around Crown Jewel I think. It was just too obvious that it was the route they were going , in my opinion.
Saw Damien at a ROH show a few years back when he was Punishment Martinez and thought he'd work well in WWE. So cool to see him win a world title at Wrestlemania.
I was at Dave and busters for night 2 and one of the servers that was helping bring food out almost dropped my plate when he cashed in lol Me and the other 4 guys I was with reassured her that what happened was probably the best part of the night
I'm not much for current Wrestling but isn't it amazing how it can make you love something and hate something at the same time. You hate Drew got screwed but you love the new drama it'll create.
Some already pointed it out, but Drew set himself up for failure. Could’ve just taken the W with grace, but chose to rub it in CM Punks face and paid the ultimate price. But Priest’s timing for that cash in was on timing. If not then and there, then idk. 🤷🏾♂️
Remember when Damian Priest tried to cash in on Raw, the next week, Drew told him he should have waited until after he won the title. McIntyre brought this on himself.
The triple threat between McIntyre, Priest, and Punk is going to be so good. Two big hosses slugging it out, with a sneaky Punk picking his moments to lay them both out, hook it to my veins.
The point about Punk taking the moment from Drew is great, but the point I prefer is that drew was telling Seth for weeks that his obsession with the Bloodline was going to cost him the title, but in the end, Drew's obsession with Punk cost him the title.
My line of thinking: Priest was in gorilla talking to Hunter when Seth comes backstage. He Sees Damian watching a monitor & says, 'Punk's going to screw him out of the title.' Priest gives him & Hunter a look...then **LIGHTBULB**.
It's also like a passing of the torch. The first person to cash in his MITB was Seth and now someone else cashes in on Seth's match... just not on Seth. Would have been more appropriate if Seth won and he got cashed in on but this is a much better angle to do it with.
I would love on raw one day (ideally it should have happened on the day after raw) that Samantha Irvine introduces Drew as former world champion. And then you see Punk paying her. It’s time for punk to start trolling
