@@deecampbell.rva-2 The only thing we really noticed is that you lose your footing sometimes and slide around. But that's on gravel. A smoother surface may be different!

That single leg is similar to a Sanda throw that Ramsey Dewey covered. You pull the leg towards you from the calf/ankle and swing the leg simultaneously to make them fall in the opposite direction. Maybe this is something you can incorporate into takedowns, but you add the grappling which Sanda lacks. That would be awesome!

I’m not a grappler so when I have questions on grappling I always watch this channel. I’ve seen other channels and they are good but Teach me Grappling shows and explains things in an easier to understand way. And the explanations have layers to it so by the time the video is done you know the move but also why you are doing it.

In my utmost humble opinion. “ Nothing more rewarding than getting ones thesis validated by those who exceeds oneself in excellence” “There are no guarantees only opportunities” “ A fight is a fight, and there is no such thing as an easy fight, that is why it is called fighting” Coach Peterson speaks truth, and there are so many unforeseen factors that also come into play in regards to applying one’s martial art in such an setting as depicted in the video, before we could afford mats we started rolling on a concrete laminated cellar floor, and your back, ( spine)knees, shoulders, hips, ankles, elbows, forearms, hands even wrists, are highly susceptible to injury, even when we went light and extremely controlled, we ended up bruised, but throughout that learning experience, we figured out quite quickly what type of sweeps/positions/ takedowns that are phenomenal in a sport setting, ie ” Playing the game” and the overall do’s and dont’s in regards to what one definitely should avoid in a self defense street altercation, clothing/ footwear/ ground surface are also one of many factors that come into play. Even the simple task of re-guarding with boots on can produce unforeseen challenges as your footwear can get stuck in a baggy sweatshirt/ jacket/ even the pockets of a hoodie etc. Even weather and paraphernalia ( your opponent has a lot of pockets with protruding zippers, pocket content etc) which can enable oneself and one’s opponent getting stuck together( when I worked security I’ve had the distinct displeasure) with such experiences, and it presents often unforeseen challenges that one wouldn’t expect if one solely trains for the sport aspect) So implementing from time to time Murphy’s law( expect the unexpected) into one’s training regiment, is key to enable your BJJ to be as functional/ applicable as possible. “ Fighting is relativity in motion, never expect only respond as it one’s opponent within context that dictates tactics” “ Learn the form, seek the formless” “ Emancipation through application” Sublime and impeccable content as always Sir, an honor to observe and learn. Sincere regards. Fellow martial artist. Tom Framnes. Norway.

Good stuff add splitting the base with your lead leg. Shooting with your knee splitting the base allows for some better change up skills to inside or outside trips, suplexes, hi crotch, ankle picks, and fireman's carry.
