Literally he is the cranky old man of the series now, calling everyone child lmao "Back in my day, you only graduated when you killed your master. NOW LOOK AT YOU ALL"
@ChaoticSonic400 economically speaking he'd run it to the ground. 😅 Not to mention downsizing the population and he doesn't seem to care if he's hurting/killing children at all.
@@Bloodlyshiva Yea to me it seems like he doesn't like the way JP USES his powers. He may see JP's usage of psycho power as cowardly. Pretty much referring to his gameplay style of standing on the other side of the screen just throwing out a bunch of BS, lol.
I find it funny that people complain about zoning in a game with so many mechanics designed to screw over zoners. The drive systems benefits everyone else more than zoners
The fact that Akuma got me learning new vocabulary is crazy to me. Him calling JP specifically, a "boor" is actually SUCH a roast when you know what the word means lmaoooo
I read that Akuma doesn't even own a phone in World Tour, and if that's the case, then considering JP's hi-tech scamming and such as well, I also read his quote to JP as "I'm more refined than you, and I'm not even using your puny little toys!" 😆 Also, one definition of "boor" is "peasant." That's right: Mr. Fruit Farmer is calling Mr. Internet Scammer a peasant! 🤣
I like how blunt he is, alternating between belittling and dismissive. Amusing how he plainly says ‘play elsewhere’ and ‘stick to dancing’ on Lily and Manon like he’d be perfectly cool with them if they did try to throw hands. Then the disrespect on Zangief though XD
So... Hes impressed with Marisa, is disappointed with Ryu, chun li and ken, feels pity for Ed and thinks everyone else is either a fool or a child lol.
@@Madheim777 He doesn't. He literally says: "That's the extent of your abilities?!" Basically saying her abilities aren't nearly enough against him and that he's disappointed that that's all she is capable of. That's not "seeing potential" in her lol.
That could also mean he seen a certain level of skill and had some respect for her just that his expectations may have been too high for her. That in a way is still a compliment, harsh but he did expect more from her meaning he saw a possibility of her giving him trouble. I'd call that respect. Even if harsh@@orlanzo2621
Despite his path towards fully embracing the killing intent and constant talk about embracing fights to the death, he's surprisingly polite and more dismissive towards most of the characters rather than bloodthirsty. His fighting style may get more animalistic, but it almost seems like Akuma's humbling with age.
There are official artworks from all the way back in the Alpha/Zero days of Akuma sat down attending his own fruit stall, selling some to a local child. Even now in SF6, there is artwork of him sat peacefully amongst nature with deer and other forest animals. Akuma not just being some mindless brute hell-bent on power and death, but a man of intense discipline who has simple hobbies, is surprisingly eloquent, and can interact with the world as a man is why he's one of my all-time favourite Street Fighter characters.
@@StoicForceIt’s great but also sort of disappointing. I was hoping Akuma would become a tragic character of some sorts, his lust for power taking all of his humanity and humbleness that he shows outside of fighting and turning him into a wild beast that needs to be put down by any means necessary (basically Oni). The art when they announced it seemed to show he was going in this direction, but now he’s just sort of stuck in the position he always was.
Sf3 he was definitely rougher but that aside, its in the world tour story that he realizes most of the fighters at his "level" (the rest of the cast in general) arent about that life. The last one who was about that life (Gen) died and it took Ryu to get him to understand that not everyone is looking for a fight to the death so Akuma doesn't give out that energy anymore where he threatens to squash you after beating you.
@@RollingBobbyJoneskinda silly that he holds this legendary omega evil vegeta role for decades then goes “oh y’all didn’t want that? My bad.” Like… you can’t convince me he just thought everybody else was like him this whole time.
@@abrahamlupis9354 I doubt it. But it also could be a potential opportunity for violent Ken to come back if his thirst for vengeance against JP is too high.
Akuma in the Alpha series: "Shall I dismember you to demonstrate your weakness?" Akuma in SF6: "Your moves are better suited for dancing than fighting tbh"
I like the slight retcon or character development that Akuma seeks fights to the death, but isn't going to kill anyone who isn't unwavering in trying to kill him. I like how anti-hero characters like him and juri now have other characters react to them with concern and not anger or hatred. I bet if Elena could make friends with him, Lily might too. I also like the concern Akuma seems to show for Ed. He's been clear about how he hates those who use power to prey on the weak, and he sees Ed's psycho power is the result of Bison and now JP using him.
Yeah, he's a very interesting character. He's long been shown to have disdain for people who are legitimately evil or sinister, even as far back as SF4. However it's pretty ambiguous whether he actually despises them for their actions or if he just sees them as arrogant and conceited despite their lack of strength (relative to him anyway).
Ryu already unlock his potential since SF5, it's just that in here Akuma seem disappointed in Ryu potential that he just need to say "That's it?!" and then demand Ryu to fight him more by saying "Get up!"
@@johnsantos507 Ehh mehhh… i think not, the satsui are not « erasable » of the soul of someone. Nobody ever have conquer the satsui except gouken ? (I think) Ryu are old but not perfect. Ive seen someone told that Ryu lacks of experience with his SA1 being very instable when he unlash the shinku hadoken. When ryu win akuma, he’s win quotes are « We are not finished, i need to tell you some questions » things like that. It’s surely how to erase the satsui in him.
I’d say he does respect Ryu…. In the sense that he expects better from a fighter like him. He kind of gives off the vibe that he knows Ryu is, or should be stronger, so Akuma is angry that he won so easily.
A lotta ppl mention him respecting Marisa, but his quote against Guile is a sign of respect also, Akuma's goal in life is enlightenment so if he thought fighting Guile was a step towards that then it's definitely a compliment
Akuma sees himself as a demon from hell who will send any fighter who dares to challenge him there. Guile is a war hero of his country. War is hell. Akuma probably thinking "damn, I not only beat a veteran fighter who has survived hell on earth, I just made myself an enemy of the entire United States government and military. I guess I really am the shit."
It seems to me Akuma has the highest expectations of Ryu and Chun-li. He demands more of both believing they are capable of greater heights. They may have the most potential of all the fighters he's encountered.
Akuma has seen Ryu under both Satsui no Hadou and Nothingness. So he knows Ryu can ascend to great heights. I suspect he expected more from Chun because she trained under Gen
@@whiteninji352 Ryu has never beaten Akuma, not even once, lol. Canonically Akuma's whole deal is trying to get Ryu to give in to the Satsui No Hado so that one day he will be worthy of a fight to the death with him.
He’s not even trying to kill anyone judging by his quotes. Even give out a few respect to guile, ed and marisa. And it says a lot if Akuma is actually giving a warning advice to someone in the quote with ed
I like how EVERYONE isn't immune to character development in this game. Not even Akuma. Akuma in SF3 was *VIOLENT,* he believed himself to be above everyone and everything (which he kinda was), and he showed nothing short of sheer brutality. Here though, as hard as it would be to believe, he's mellowed out quite a bit. He's far more focused on the strengths of others. He seems less violent in his win quotes, and is more *frustrated.* He's unsatisfied, and he's either critiquing others for their flaws, telling them they aren't ready, or being disappointed in the fighters he's already encountered. That's a step up from threatening to mutilate them. Being the strongest is getting to him.
All he wants is an equal. Someone who can actually put his immense strength to the test. Aside from maybe Ryu, everyone on the roster currently is a warmup at best.
I don't know whether it's intentional or not, but the fact that Akuma's new win pose is VERY similar to the Heihachi's "COME BACK WHEN YOU'RE READY TO FIGHT" winpose is just * chef's kiss *
Saw a few people mentioning his win animation, I wanted to add that it’s very similar to Oni, but unlike Oni, Akuma doesn’t take the kill shot. He’s still deliberately restraining himself.
These lines are neither voiced nor murderous, but man, I feel so much of Akuma's madness in them. Also, I find his quote to Manon especially brutal even with her insecurity about being called strong, and then there's how he's known for having a friendship with Elena.
0:45 Akuma must have a thing for Marisa. He didn't leave any cuts bruises on her face and unlike everyone else he even *Complimented* her. Which is something Akuma never does
Akuma seems to have chilled out in his age. Seems considerably nicer. Everything he said before were insults, or at best, harsh but honest advice. Now he just telling a lot of young kids basically "get off my lawn"
Fitting for Akuma, since he kills his fighters. I was looking at the faces to see if they were moving, didn't look like they were. Makes his outro all the better.
Guile's the only one who really fights on other people's orders as a soldier, so he's not fighting to improve like the rest and has no emotional hangups, and therefore cannot be taught.
@@HELLRAISER02 "Do you call throwing flashy arrows and doing a single kick everytime someones approaches you, fighting?!" "It has been working for years now"
I love Akuma’s quote towards Ryu. Once hellbent on taking his life, he now understands he found a truly worthy opponent, and not even he wants the fight to end
I love how this is most likely canon; Akuma takes a quick break from being a fruit vendor to casually beat everyone while telling all them new kids to get out of his sight
Akuma is harsh but when he even gives you even an ounce of respect take that and run with it, you won in the life of street fighter of you live on to tell about akuma respecting you and living to tell the tail
Something about him picking you up and just letting you lifelessly fall back down is hilarious to me! 😂 like another day of at the office of being dissatisfied
I feel bad for Akuma - he is perhaps the sole character in the franchise that is genuinely pissed each and every time he wins the battle. Each and every fighter fought is a disappointment to him. The guy's standard for an enemy is the one he cannot defeat. Which effectively means that the only one who ever stood a chance is basically... Asura ?
@a.p5413 Seemingly cause he can tell Dhalsim is holding back for the sake of his Peace and Pacifism. If he went all out, Dhalsim would be an entirely different type of beast.
Unlike every other character win screens where the losing character is just ko'ed, everyone looks dead as hell when they lose to akuma. Mf just killed these guys. Especially ryu. Eyes wide open
I feel like only Guile, Marisa and Ryu are the only ones he genuinely acknowledged. With Guile, he spoke of enlightenment after battling him. With Marisa, he complimented her. And Ryu, while not said properly, I feel he’s like a grumpy grandpa, wanting Ryu to be strong but disappointed with him at the same time. I’d like to think he believes Ryu is one of the only people who could beat him.
He reminds me of SFIV Gen, being incredibly short with people and only caring about the fight. Just as lonely as Gen was too, with the exception of Ryu. I also like how disgusted Akuma is with JP, a character who's quite strong but chooses to use his power to manipulate those he sees as beneath him instead of seeking greater challenges.
