Today I'm here to go over Ryu's options in Modern Mode, what he's missing out on, and some of the general ways to access his kit.
Turns out he's a sauce boss even in Modern and will likely be a threat for everyone going forward.

This series is literally a god send. I am literally studying each video like its a homework assignment, wrtiring down notes cause I have so many combos and normals I need to get the timing of with my drive rush. I am so happy all these done in modern mode so I can already haveva good base with my string combos, whenever I transition to the modern mode when not playing classic. Absolutely insane how deep Ryu's ability for combos is Definitely earned a sub from me.

Love the music sync on the last combo; fantastic video, and I'm glad someone's making videos on Modern controls still giving you a full range of control without much sacrifice.

There's a minor thing you forgot to mention and that is that modern Ryu can't do light ir heavy tatsumakis, which are useful for doing side swaps.

i am using ryu style on world tour and auto combo with heavy (R2+circle) he only does the forward heavy punch+heavy kick then an special move...I can't for the life of me execute the solar plexus punch with modern

Throwing out SA1 after the charged SA2 at 3:46 doesn't seem to hit if he's fully midscreen. I came across this vid while looking for help on how to convert the classic control combos to modern. Cool stuff

Technically it's officially Terry Bogard's theme which debuted in the second movie where he fought Wolfgang Krauser and fought Kim for the first time in the beginning of the movie, Kim just borrowed it in the motion picture but I believe the director did that as a way to allude that Kim was essentially fighting in Terry's place

I said for YEARS that motions were a bane and that we should surpass them. I've been shunned by the "pros", who I often beat to a pulp with my humble Gief. I see that, in the end, developers have listened. Do not make the game hard to play intentionally... that's Dark souls.

im a classic enjoyer and ive got no issue with modern... but motions seem still very much part of the modern toolkit. i.e. losing out on l.spd's insane range or h.spd's insane damage because you don't like to use motions is going to severely hamper your gameplan in the higher ranks. And making single button spd just the medium one keeps it from being completely broken motions aren't intentionally designed to be hard, but as ways to lock your best tools behind longer reaction times. Sure, there could be easier ways to do this, but you misunderstand the intention if you think its about gatekeeping out skill level. fighting games are hard anyway!
