Hey there :) They'd be fine. You'll most likely only ever use the 137mm length- which is a good length. I've never know someone that rides a 19'' to often switch between the two sizes. But theres no loss is having dual hole cranks, saves a little bit of weight and might be fun to change it to 117 every now and then :)

I'd avoid metal pedals, painful if you come off and smack your shins. Plastic pedals are great, but when learning it's best to make sure they have some grip, so don't just put on old worn out pedals. Too much grip can also be a problem though... CH.
Have you see the previous episodes? I go over idling quite a big in beginner levels, maybe 3-4. But if those weren't enough, maybe upload a video of yourself and I can have a look and give you some pointers. CH.
