Shadow health secretary Wes Streeting was asked about Sir Keir's silence on potential tax rises, and he insisted that Labour has been "really specific" about the taxes it will and will not raise.

It's all Labour have ever done historically, its no different now. They base their entire economic model on the tax system. They also claim to be saving the NHS when really all they ever do is hire more middle managers and soften policy language so it appears thing's are improving. Dont forget it was Labour who began the privatising of hospitals to outside companies in the 90s.. car parks, buildings etc.

They have promised not to Increase income tax, corporate tax and NI. They have NOT promised not to increase total tax take or to introduce new taxes - that would be stupid. Expect VAT on school fees, land tax (tax developers who land bank and don’t build) wealth tax and removing the cap on council tax (to fund social care to free NHS beds). I wouldn’t be surprised to see CGT exemption on private property removed either. None of that would breach manifesto commitment.

PFI was dreamed up by John Major and was a Thatcher era legacy policy of outsourcing which was finally stopped in 2018 The spending cost is 200 billion I'm not defending it I thought it was a sh1t idea by both parties, Reeve won't revive it there committed to in-sourcing where possible and she is also stated a shake up on how assets are accounted for because the reason this looked attractive is it off books the debt.

We saw a continuation of outsourcing with Cameron and the complete failure of probation service contracts. The most visible and spectacular show of its failure in G4S at the Olympics. and The most recent in 37 billion given out for test and trace. Both Starmer and Reeve are opposed to outsourcing and will in-source wherever possible and practical

The way I see it, the country is broke, the coffers are empty. Of course we’re going to need to pay more tax. What myself and others don’t want is to see it wasted on contracts for wealthy donors etc. I don’t mind paying more if it’s to fix the country; roads, NHS etc. We Brits want our services to be fixed, but don’t seem to accept that we need to pay for it. Politicians just need to be honest about it.

Top end tax should be increased by removing the cap on national insurance (it drops to 2% at 50k) . Also should add a tax on offshoring to make it no cheaper, would drive a huge boost in employment. Also should raise the personal allowance in line with inflation and leave the living wage alone - that alone would slow down inflation and give those on living wage the same increase in their pockets. If they do that then reduce the 40% tax threshold to ensure the higher paid don’t benefit from the increase in personal allowance (45% don’t get a personal allowance) EU free movement needs looking at as BREXIT seems to have resulted in more immigration rather than less to fill skills gaps.

Let’s get this straight. He’s saying that they are going to get big investment. Big investment requires big input from big earners, but at the same time he’s saying that they’ll tax the big earners more to make things fairer. I am a 77 year old Pensioner, in April I got an extra £18 addition to the tax on One of my private pensions, which is now £98 a month, I have two other small pensions which pay 20% on each, these pensions are from My Army Pension and my Mining Pension, Remember in 2010, the Tories said Don't Vote Labour they will raise VAT to 20%, what did Osbourne do when they got in, Dead Right VAT 20%, people have short memories, the Tories have destroyed this country.

We need to focus on continuing to reduce the debt. If that can be achieved then the next priority should be the lower tax threshold and taking the brakes off. Of course taxes are going to go up, no matter who wins. The difference is where that money goes. The Tories have proven they will offer tax cuts for the rich (while increasing taxes for ordinary people by decreasing tax free allowances) while at the same time telling us there is no money for heath, education or infrastructure. I think Labour will be slightly better and will target those areas like the NHS rather than giving more money to the already more than comfortable. I'm not keen on Labour and their attacks on 'the left'. As always they think those votes are in the bag so they are trying to appeal to the Tory voter who is more likely to vote Lib Dem by claiming to be more right wing than perhaps they claim to other people.

Labour will almost certainly put up corporation tax on business I guess which is bad news for companies trying to make ends meet = potential job losses and cutting back on investment. The majority of companies are not cash cows that the Govt can keep calling on. For me, lower company tax means more employees which is removing the burden on the state.

Time to stop voting for labor and conservative have been in power between them for about a 100 year's. And look at the what they have done to our beautiful country. We the British are now second class citizens and the minority in our own country. The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Give them their marching orders vote reform.

Well I am a police officer working as much as I can to put my son though school but because of the vat added to school fees I will be putting my son in a state school costing more to the government. Great plan.

Yes but labour were happy for the government at the time to borrow and spend billions of pounds during the pandemic,lockdowns, closing down parts of the economy and for cost of living payments and where not worried then how it would end up having a impact on the economy and the countries finances and led to people having to pay higher taxes etc and having to pay that back

There is like a 99% chance labour wins this election. They are ahead of any other party by 22+% in the polls. And Lib Dems and Reform are taking votes from Conservatives, so none of them have any chance of winning.
