Amid a brooding rock & roll landscape, the Bombers motorcycle gang, led by the vicious Raven Shaddock (Willem Dafoe, John Wick), kidnap diva Ellen Aim (Diane Lane, Man of Steel). Her hope for rescue lies with unlikely heroes: soldier of fortune Tom Cody (Michael Paré, Bad Moon) and his sidekick, the two-fisted beer-guzzling McCoy (Amy Madigan, The Dark Half). Joined by Ellen's manager, Billy Fish (Rick Moranis, Ghostbusters), the trio plunges headfirst into a world of rain-splattered streets, hot cars, and deadly assassins.

I just watched. The thing is, it's good, but this trailer basically show you exactly what to expect. There is nothing to this movie except what you see here. Edit: I'm reading my comment a month later, and it almost comes off negative. There's not much to it, but I LOVE what it does that other movies don't

This movie. So much to say. Just plain, straightforward heroism. It is fantastic. Jim Steinman's song are absolutely perfect in this movie. Worked at a video store around 89-90 and we obviously played movies on a monitor for customers. Streets of Fire was in HEAVY rotation. Incredibly underrated flick.

Absolutely one of the greatest movies ever made! I don't have enough words to describe how much I love this movie. The cast, the sets, the music, the passion, the drama; it has it all. Diane Lane stole my heart in this film and never gave it back! This was the first movie that I saw Michael Pare, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, Willem Defoe, or Bill Paxton in. They all went on to be in many great movies.

Ok so, I consider myself an 80s fan. I was born in the early 80's, and I can't get enough of the music, movies fashion etc. I have spotted some of my all time favorite actors in this trailer. The song I can dream about you was always one of my favorites as a kid. So why in the F%#k have I never heard of this movie? It has Willem Dafoe, and Rick Moranis. Diane Lane is in it looking all badass, and the trailer literally shows T&A. What is happening? lol Where am I?

Yeah, this movie was like Blade Runner in that when it initially came out it technically flopped. But now its getting a cult status. I loved the movie when it hit and really didn't see why it didn't do better. I remember William Dafoe and Amy Madigan being my favorites in the film and we all know how great they became as actors later. Its one of thos emovies that was too far ahead of its time in that it wasn't set in any particular timeframe, had retro elements and lots of diversity. Glad its getting some shine now.

Nice way to put it. There was a very specific sub-genre of what you describe -- the 1950s revived and visually updated in the 1980s -- and this movie exemplifies it. It's an aesthetic that was also present in many music videos of the time, if memory serves. The colour scheme was distinctly 1980s, but much else harkened back to the '50s.

In retrospect, it truly was a Rock N Roll western. It even said this either on the cover or in advertisement. It was a different world all its own no specific time or place. The music was just phenomenal and stayed with me as a 10 year old kid watching it in the 80s even though I didn't understand the story. Tom Cody was an elusive distant drifter. A man willing and able to protect what he loved. Ellen Aim, an artist with a drive and a dream going places. Their love was sweet, passionate, and doomed. They had that moment and that time. Could they have come back together at the end full circle? It's uncertain and unknown as is life. So "Tonight is what it means to be young" truly is deeply understood for me now at 46 years old. And grateful for those who I have met along the way.

LMAO this shit cracked me up!!! 😂😂 We had a video man!!! 😂😂😂 We'd see him on the weekends in the late 80s early 90s at a flea market where he used to set up a booth for the day. He would let me and my brothers flat out TRADE him! So if we saw Nightmare on Elm street 1, and then wanted to see 2, we'd go back and trade him. He didn't give a single flying F, we spent plenty of money with him anyway buying other tapes. Guy made tons of money. I never knew his name. Willam Dafoe and Tom Berenger did oscar winning performances in Platoon. I wish Michael Parre' was in Platoon too.

When I was a kid, I always thought the coolest scene in this movie was where the hero rescues the chick with his butterfly knife. And oh yeah, you better believe I practiced that scene in front of the mirror too.

How are you guys just now hearing about this? I've been all over this since it came out, I remember when the video for "I Can Dream About You" came out, and my parents rented it the next Summer.

This movie needs a remake. Was going to be a series of movies but they were cancelled when the move didnt do well at the box office, great movie with a great soundtrack.

I read somewhere that this movie inspired the game Final Fight. I love that game series. I've GOT to watch this.

I can see that... And Streets of Rage probably took less ambiguous direct inspiration from both sourced tbh

I wonder if this had any influence on Frank Miller’s Sin City comics or vice versa. Also Lee Ving from FEAR at 1:34. I haven’t seen this since I was a kid, but I may need to rewatch for the visuals alone.

I looked this movie up because, I've always thought the main guy looks like one of my cousins that's been passed away for awhile now. I've often thought about this movie but, the name finally popped up in my head. I don't know why but, I always thought it had Mickey Rourke in it. Guess not
