This is the craziest sounding Corvette I've EVER HEARD! Today we drive StreetSpeed717's incredible C7 Corvette ZR1 pushing nearly 1000HP. It checks all the boxes. It's rowdy. It's menacing. I graduated high school in 1996. We thought we had fast cars back then with our Z28s and our 5.0s doing 13 second quarter mile times. A buddy had a tubbed Nova drag car that ran in the mid 10s and we all thought it was the fastest car we would ever see. Now we have street cars with 1,000 rear wheel horsepower that you can drive to church. Freaking crazy.

bgomusicco I would say the definition of “better” can be subjective as well because the reason I prefer the C5, C6 and C7 over the C8 is because you really have to be a good driver to go fast in them and it makes you become a better driver because you learn how to control it. Where the C8 is more of a car where you are good at driving it right out of the box (not that appealing to me and my style).

Not as crazy as that ZR1 is. Bottom end on the C8 isn’t forged like the ZR1 is. Plus they’re already having issues with the duel clutch holding horsepower. Can’t remember where I seen it. But someone on RU-vid has put small wet shot of nitrous on a C8 and he was having transmission problems because of it. Guess time will tell where the weak points are in the C8 and like all the corvettes before it the aftermarket will address weaknesses. The GT500 transmission seams to be holding up pretty well to big horsepower.

@@markball7028 Oh but a modified C8 Stingray will outperform any C7 once tuning becomes available because the engine is in the back. It won't even be close. This coming from a C7 owner. The LT2 just needs a forged bottom end and it's only a matter of time before the aftermarket released stronger clutch packs.

60% of the Corvette community would hate me if I was wealthy...! LoL I would have bought a brand new c6 zr1 and c7zr1 and within the first week or two i'd figure out how to get a 15" wheel out back with some 275-295/60/15 dragradials and 17x4 up front and go straight to the track and build the shit out of'em like ditch the 6 speed out of the c6 zr1 and swap a powerglide w/tbrake in it get rid of the blower and go turbo asap!! My biggest beeef with c8's is mid engine cars dont have a whole lot of potential at the track

Well he didn't turn it up ALL the way. But yes, it's turned up quite a lot for a gas tune which he takes out and hammers on daily. He wanted it to be highly streetable, daily, 93-pump tuned (with the option to get a little more power from higher octane fuel when needed). If he wanted to turn it up more, he could go E85... but that would require substantial modification then it would absolutely GUZZLE fuel. That doesn't even consider nitrous, of course.

I know burbles are fun, I love when I hear a car and it pops and burbles. But I have to admit, the tune on Mike's ZR1 is a bit excessive. When a car has a good tune, it normally burbles and pops pretty frequently when driving agressively. I'd rather have that as a gratification when driving agressive, rather than hearing the unrelenting pops anytime I let off the gas. Just my opinion.
