You can mix moving and static exercises - you don't have to choose one or the other! Exact times depend on your goals, but aiming for around 30-60 total seconds can be a rule of thumb. For example, 6 sets of 6 second holds. Or 2 x 30-second holds. The harder the exercise, the more you'll need to space it out. Feel free to experiment! Have a wonderful day!
Hey Hampton! I exercise, but struggle with the calorie surplus. Do you plan on showing us how you intake your +/- 3000 (k?)calories a day? Would be of great help to me and I'm sure others too!
@@tesarthrospentax823 Pasta, cheese, nut butter, olive oil. As long as you're not allergic to any of those, add them to your diet and you'll easily increase your caloric intake. A teaspoon of peanut butter is around 100 calories.
He said that he didn't do that in the start but trained himself to do that because iirc it's way more personable and relatable if he talks during the move and not in a voiceover
@@Zwodo Honestly im glad he took the extra effort to do that. Voiceovers is a form of content that feels way too manufactured and distant in recent times.
I saw your how to do pushups video 2 years ago. I got serious about getting fit 6 months ago and i remembered your video so i started doing supported wall pushups and incline pushups on a platform ledge. I couldn't do a single pushup because i didn't have any strength. Today i can proudly say I do 21 regular pushups in one go with a proper form. And I also do variations now. Thank you, your tip worked for me. Today, This video was on my shorts page and I got the nostalgia by seeing you. So i had to post this comment here. Thank you once again! And keep up the good work.
@@thefarhanpirzada😢idk why my gym teachers always counted me out as a "girl" I feel like so dumb now that I never realized I can work on building strengh somehow
@@thefarhanpirzada yeah I just never realized, I've ALWAYS had a choice no matter what teachers think. I've been getting around 10k steps in per day. So I guess I have! Thank you for the support! How is your training lately?
Refreshing to see a male fitness coach without the alpha male gimmicks, just being humble about it, giving good information and nothing more. Great stuff!
"you can start with something you can do" is so motivating to hear. People usually say " oh yeah do this exercise " and then I try it and die and give up lmao
You sir, are appreciated! Us old folks are talking about you in the senior center. That's where I heard about you and I told my cashiers, and they tell two friends and so on and so on! You are nice, thanks!. We can understand what you say and how to do it! Stronger seniors. Yeah, be afraid, be VERY AFRAID! Most of us are veterans.
I love this guy. Every exercise is almost like a surprise when you realize just how much strength and control he has and is showing you how to build. Plus, his manner is good-natured and friendly. Love your channel.
I've only ever heard of it being called a V-sit, which makes his calling it "one of these V-things" extra funny XD So close! Bit further if boat pose is the correct term =P
The wife and I bumped into you during your shoot yesterday at the end of our bike ride, holy cow I had no idea you were local to us! My wife won't stop making fun of me because she has recognized the park since she first saw your content lol. I'm just a space cadet 😅 Anyways, huge fan, you were one of the first fitness content creators who showed up in my feed that I didn't hate. thanks to you and others like you, I am finishing my 6 month posture journey from hunchback gamer to being mistaken for a veteran constantly 😅 Cheers! If you ever want some (free) coffee, come to the farmers market! I roast and sell specialty beans. I would say which market, but I don't want to dox either of us 👍 Regardless, it was dope seeing you!
Hybrid I just wanted to say that you inspired me to start my calisthenics journey a while ago and even inspired me to become a calisthenics RU-vidr. I’ve grown a lot as a person tackling calisthenics and even content creating and wanted to say thank you for doing what you do! All love!
It amazes me that this guy has more upper body and core strength than those who are much bigger than him, yet alone guys in his weight class. Goes to show anyone with the right mindset and time and train functionally and correctly.
Principle of specificity. He's not really stronger than bigger guys (bodybuilders, powerlifters etc.), just more trained in certain movements/ exercises. I am sure his compound lifts for example would be relatively "mediocre" compared with those of the mentioned bigger guys.
@@helmuthvonmoltke5518 He trains relative body strength so I imagine he has a greater degree of slow twitch muscle fibers compared to a powerlifter. He also has much more balance which allows him to do exercises someone who may be as strong as him on paper couldn't.
How has he not been on ninja warrior??? He could give me a whole lesson on core exercises while completing the ninja warrior course and hit the buzzer with no problem 😳
I really appreciate you encouraging people to take it easy with honest straight forward workouts. Because it really is too often people think they need to train like an already fit athlete to get into shape and miss so much.
One thing I love about core workout is once you start seeing that your getting better you always remember when you struggled and then you feel empowered
never thought of it this way. core has different function than just to contract and relax unlike biceps and chest for example… so it makes sense to train it differently and not with just reps
You'd be surprised... the biceps also has a stabilising function. Stick your arm out straight, palms facing upward and hold any sort of weight in your hands. You'll feel your biceps. Many muscles in our body are involved in much more complex movement patterns than we think.
I just found your channel and I am so so thankful. You are so understanding and knowledgeable and have motivated me unlike anyone else. I just wanted to thank you and tell you to keep up the good work your dedication is much appreciated!
I just had spinal surgery, and this is all part of my recovery process! Thank you for reminding me to keep up with it and find a fun/different way to do them! Thank you ❤
Love the short! Just wondering, could you make a video about how to incorporate isometrics into our routine? I want more grip and stability strength but I'm not sure as to how heavy the hold should be. Aka how many seconds until failure to see strength results. Thanks!
Good idea! You can put isometrics many places, but for pure strength, I'd do them before your workout. Short holds of 6-10 seconds so you can maintain high intensity in your sets. However, for things like grip, I'd train those after your regular pulling workout. For example, dead hangs from a bar after pull-ups!
I’m trying to rebuild core strength after a c-section so I’m doing a lot of static exercises until I feel more stable. This gave me some tops options beyond planking
Thanks for the reminder. I have a chronic hip injury, and I have a very hard time finding exercises I can do safely, which makes me lose motivation. It's the repetitive movements that hurt me, so this works!
I really don't want to sound cheesy or people-pleasing or stuff... But I am truly grateful for your work. You took my self judgement off calisthenics and most importantly you show us you really CAN do it with what you have. I always look up for your ideas and variations for getting stronger as I am an absolute beginner that hasn't exercised at all in years 🤗
one day i wish you have a collab with the "stay flexy" content creator, you and him both have similar types of video content, it'll also be fun to see two like-minded individuals meet up
I love how he makes excersice more accessible by offering easier ways to do an excersice! It really comes off that he wants as many people as possible to excersice!
I discovered my glutes weren’t growing because I wasn’t properly activating my core and my low back was over active. Doing ab work and tucking my posture has helped a ton. I love this channel!
Honestly. He makes it sound so easy! Not to mention the positivity and all his videos caring about us. If Hybrid ever sees this I miss seeing your videos on Ifunny also love the videos. You inspire me to keep going!
This is exactly what I needed, thank you. I seem to have injured my back muscles as I get spasms when I put too much on them so I'm specifically looking for a way to strengthen my core that does NOT involve jarring movement, where I can hopefully build it up.
I am taking your advice to heart. I started weightlifting every day, but learned that wasn't healthy because your muscles need time to recover. Yesterday I gave my arms a break and tried some different exercises. I quickly realized my arms are the only things I was really training, and my core needs a LOT of work! Now I plan to switch it up every other day.
I love this guy. He's super inspiring and is just extremely kind. I have started calisthenics because of this guy and David Thurin aka movmentbydavid. Love these communities.
