Months from finishing my masters in science and I'm faced with the decision on what to do in the future. My parents have one view, I have another. This is the story of them and my future.
this is criminally underrated lol, and i get the feeling of wanting to throw everything away as well. i don’t know what i want to do either, but i hope i figure something out. nice video!
Sometimes I think that I know better what my children should live. The good education, good job with a good salary and etc… I need to be sure that my kids are safe, happy and can live without my support. My past experiences affect the way I think about happiness. But I understand we are different and have a different vision of life. They have the right to make their own choices and mistakes. Usually parents are happy when they children are happy. Good luck with your decision.
Don't know how this popped up in my recommended and I rarely comment on videos, but I hope your dream comes true. Keep at it - you have the skills already, you just have to wait for the lucky day the YT algo swings in your favor. Best of luck bro
Thank you toni, to be honest with you i dont think i have the skills yet to do that. More realistically I would get a normal part time job once my internship/masters is finished
Fellow 2nd gen Chinese diaspora here. Don't know what your financial/housing circumstances are but I opted to just suck it up and do the 9-5 grind for a few years before quitting to be able to work full time on passion projects. In hindsight I think that was the right decision for me. Gained a lot of useful skills/experience on the job and it also allowed me to buy a home before prices skyrocketed, which greatly reduced my cost of living here.
Dont get trapped in the “safety” of a phd. Its only safe if you give up your autonomy and personal creativity and niche down to what people say you should do. It might even get to the point that you start believing what you “should” be doing is the “only” thing you “can” do. Phds teach entrepreneurship imo (ive started 2 phds and left once i learned what i needed) so keep making your art and always niche up :)
good to hear from the other side :) Thank you, for now I will not yet do one as im not living yet in a 4 year stable place. Until then, a lot of thinking!
as always, great video!! i'm (hopefully xd) finishing my bachelors degree in physics this year and have no idea what to do (tbh i'm feeling too dumb to continue this path)
