The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals hosted its first-ever adoption event for older cats. Todays event, called "Strictly Seniors," hoped to increase awareness about the hundreds of cats seven years and older who desperately need loving, caring homes. "Strictly Seniors" was held at the Cauz For Pawz Thrift Stores in Kips Bay. Members of the Alliance say older cats make great pets, not just for senior citizens, but for families, as well.
Connie Francis: "We've got a really lively bunch. We like to call them '7-up, the bubbly seniors' because they have so much living to do. Some do have some special needs, like a diet, but for the most part, they're ready to be a part of your life forever."
The Alliance partnered with Frankie's Fund for Feline Care and Rescue, a group which raises funds for animal rescue.
