In-game OST of Sovereignty (Modern Era / Classical Era) Prelude: • String Quartet in G Mi... 00:00 Movement I | Allegro 01:45 Movement II | Adagio 03:32 Movement III | Vivace 05:17 Movement IV | Presto
Good job! I really loved the lyrical melodies throughout the piece. What matters most to me in music is not the goofy ahh music theory but making music that sounds good. You definitely accomplished that. However, when the first movement ended, I was like, "Wait! Where's the rest of the piece?" You made an excellent introduction to the movement, but you gotta keep moving. Make some more; don't leave us so early in. I really loved the second and third movements too; but the same logic applies. There's gotta be some variety too. You nailed the theme; create some nice development, change keys, surprise the listener with beautiful lines. Also, for the third movement, maybe violin 1 shouldn't get a tacet? Yes, they deserve it (I'm a cellist and I share your hatred) but still, this is a string quartet. Overall, I love the potential this piece has. Keep going!🎉
Thank you very much for the feedback. And yeah, I agree that my movements are a bit short, I try to make them as long as I can, but I think I'm repeating myselft too much if they're longer than 2 minutes. -And for the third movement, it's usually played as a trio and loses a violin. Usually it should be the second violin, but I thought I would make it different for this one.- Edit: Actually I missread the definitions of third movements, they're not supposed to be played as a trio. Oops.
Do you have any specific composers or pieces that inspired some of this writing? I really like the lyricism and was wondering where it might’ve come from or if you have other compositions with this quality
Definitely Vivaldi to a certain degree. Probably also Chopin and Bach since I like them a lot, but there's not direct inspiration. And I do have other compositions, but this one is the most recent full one. I'm starting a new one right now, which is my newest video.
