I'm heading to the Wells area in a couple weeks and would love to try my luck off the jetty. Any recommendations on how to get live mackeral? Can you catch them from the beach? How should I play the tide when jetty fishing?
What are your thoughts on closed bow, or an open bow (like yours), up in Maine? I was under the impression most people up there lean towards closed because of the cold weather, but I guess if you pick your days, it isn't necessary.
Generally the middle of the tide cycle, when the water is moving most for ledges. The fish swim down the coast from a river to a sandy bay at this particular spot. So there is about an hour or two where they come through. High and low seem to always be slowly unless you are on the beach or up in the rivers
@@FishingWithBoyt would you ever bump down to 25lb leader if there weren’t rocks to get hung up on? I’m headed to Maine and I just bought this 25lb blue label for a different trip and was wondering if I could get away with it. Plus the water seems a bit clearer there than here in MA. Thanks!
