I went through boot camp after a workday meltdown and met a friend there who was dodging tax collection. The work/life meltdown scenarios preceding the decision to attend boot are pretty realistic. The boot camp manipulation part of the story however is complete fictional dream land stuff.

Not amazing. The first half of the film is great. The last part bogs down with that stupid story about the assault urban vehicle. And whoever thought that those two hot women (Sean Young one of them!) could ever fall for the likes of Bill Murray and Harold Ramis, except Bill Murray and Harold Ramis themselves? They're charming guys, but not exactly attractive.

A little known true story; one of those two New York millionaires, either Ron Lauder or Ron Perelman, had a retired cop as his chauffeur and he was abusing the shit out of the chauffeur verbally as they were traveling on the FDR Drive in Manhattan and the chauffeur stopped the car in the middle of traffic, took the keys out of the ignition, tossed them into the East River and then walked off the highway! Must have gotten the idea from this movie.

Fran Ryan was terrific as the irate woman with the two tons of luggage, may she Rest In Peace. There she was, yelling at the cab driver named John Winger (played by Bill Murray), and he responds by stopping the cab in the middle of a bridge and tossing the keys into a river. STRIPES remains one of my favorites. Bill Murray and Harold Ramis reunited in GHOSTBUSTERS (1984), while John Candy and Warren Oates had been in 1941 (1979), but did not share any scenes.
@msp5138

So Murray, causes a traffice jam on a bridge. Causes a car accident on other lane, which also backs up traffic. Drops the keys to the cab in the river, which ensure everyone will be stuck on the bridge for hours. All because he is pissed off the arrogant old lady. What a complete loser...

@@Junkman2008 I have no doubt about the food, however to say the "West end is only bad if you do not belong there" is a stretch don't you think? Went enders are getting murdered there. Robberies are happening every day. It's a rough place for everyone, and that is why gangs form, for protection.
@Junkman2008
@Junkman2008 4 месяца назад
@@sharonraizor2839 Ya' know, people like you are great for movie writers but people like YOU don't know jack about black folks. You sound just like someone who lives in Prospect and watches FAUX News to see what's going on in Louisville. I spent the last 19-years in the hood and didn't see ONE murder. People were killed, but the thing about black folks is that *black folks don't kill just for the fun of killing like WHITE folks do.* You didn't hear about any black folks shooting up a school, theater, workplace, church, bank or a McDonald's in the West End, just for the hell of it or because they were bullied online. But you definitely heard about that happening in New Lou, which is predominately white now, and the shooter was a white female. When black people start shooting at each other, there's a grudge match going on between them, and someone can tell you what the issue was. They are NOT shooting each other just for the hell of it. The senselessness of some of these spree shooters cannot be explained because there is no explanation for it. Another thing, black folks are not going to write a manifesto about how mad they are and who they hate, post it online and then go shoot up a mall. That level of evil is just not in our DNA. That's also why you didn't see hoards of black people storming the capitol for that orange con man. We are just not that gullible. We know a con artist when we see and hear one. 🙄🙄🙄 Everything about your comment screams how white you are. If you take a little trip over to the FBI's UCR website, you will find criminal statistical data that has been organized by race, sex, frequency and a host of other categories. As you look at the data from year to year, you will start to see patterns. The category that I pay the most amount of attention to is sexual deviancy, because I have a beautiful daughter. What the data shows is that EVERY YEAR, WHITE MALES lead the nation in every category of sexual criminal activity, especially concerning children. (To Catch a Predator, anyone?). Now here's the part you won't find on FAUX News. *White folks sell more drugs, buy more drugs and use more drugs than any other race in America.* But a lot of those white folks can afford a lawyer, and get their drug case pled down to something less. All you have to do is go look at the data yourself at www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/more-fbi-services-and-information/ucr. This is NOT my opinion, *this is what the data shows.* 👀 While you're there, look at the hate crime numbers. Poor black folks welcome poor white folks into their neighborhoods with open arms. If you go to a poor part of town where only black folks live and you are a poor white person, you won't have any issues. As far as black folks are concerned, poor people are all the same color, POOR. The same can't be said in white neighborhoods. My father moved our family to a house he bought in Shively in 1976. We damn near had the KKK burning crosses in our front yard every week. Things have changed since then but at the same time, some things are still the same. I park a Porsche and a Corvette in my driveway and ny white neighbors on BOTH SIDES of me barely say anything to me to this day. I don't dress like a thug and keep my house looking emasculate, inside and out so what's the issue? This is why my house is blanketed with security cameras, inside and out. As far as this "gang culture" you mentioned in the West End. I was a cop in Los Angeles during the 80's and early 90's. You want to hear some gang stories? Oh, I have a ton of them. When I came back to Louisville in the early 90's, the amount of homicides for the year were similar to a holiday weekend in L.A.. Even back then, Louisville's "gang culture" was a COMPLETE JOKE. Louisville, including the West End, is a hell of a lot safer place to live compared to a whole lot of other cities in the US. Hell, I would hit Indie's restaurant at 3:AM when it use to stay open that late with no problems. Never saw ONE PERSON get shot at or robbed. Crime was happening, but it never touched me because *I don't look like a victim.* If you were smart enough (like I am), to carry a police scanner with you every day, you would be shocked to hear some of the calls going on in the area where YOU live. Now how can I say that without knowing where you live? Because I am listening to what is happening all over the Metro area. *There is no such thing as a safe part of town. There are simply areas where certain things are less likely to happen.* Now if you go rolling down to the West End, driving a convertible Bentley with the top down at 2:AM, you are probably going to get carjacked. Why? Because you would look like a victim just waiting to be robbed. But then, that would happen in any major city where the poorer class of people live. Crimes of opportunity happen everywhere and if you dangle that carrot in front of the right ass, he's gonna take it from you. If you don't look like you belong there, you draw attention to yourself. I can't remember how many families I pulled over who were looking for their hotel at Disneyland, but had wandered off into the gang infested part of Anaheim. They were just 2-blocks off course and that area was a huge gang area back then. *Two-blocks from Disneyland!* But you would never know that unless you knew what was going on by listening to the police scanner for that area. Even Rush Limbaugh once said that if people truly knew how much crime was happening in Los Angeles at any given time of the day, they would never enter the city limits. That was one thing that Rush and I totally agreed upon, and part of the reason I left. Louisville is like Little House on the Prairie compared to L.A.. So the West End is nowhere near the cesspool that you want to make it out to be. Some of the SMARTER white folks in this city are buying up every piece of property that they can get their hands on in the West End, because they KNOW something that YOU don't know. My wife has a few properties in the West End. Haven't had any issues out of the tenants or their neighbors. But you keep that stereotypical opinion that most white folks in Louisville have of the West End. That's more property for the rest of us who KNOW BETTER. 😉
