What’s happening in this Stripes movie clip?
Hulka (Warren Oates from The Wild Bunch and Sleeping Dogs) continues to ride Winger until one night when Hulka addresses everyone in the barracks, saying that he knows a few of the men have been slipping off the base at night without permission. Winger makes it sound like he'll step forward with Russell but tricks his friend, who is punished with 24 hours of garbage duty. The rest of the platoon is ordered to spend two weekends on KP. When he asks Winger what he thinks of their punishment, Winger says it sucks. Hulka orders Winger to a private conference in the latrine. Winger tells his sergeant that he can either kick him out of the Army or just get off his back. The sergeant invites Winger to take a swing at him; when Winger does, Hulka easily ducks & hits Winger in the stomach, doubling him over. He tells Winger that he plans to make him a soldier who respects discipline and that their private meeting will someday mean something to him.

What’s the Stripes movie about?
Hard-luck cabbie John Winger (Bill Murray from Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day), directionless after being fired from his job and dumped by his girlfriend, enlists in the U.S. Army with his close pal, Russell Ziskey (Harold Ramis from Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day). After his barely satisfactory performance in basic training, the irreverent Winger emerges as the figurehead for a ragtag band of Army misfits. However, his hijinks threaten to cause an international scandal when he inadvertently commandeers a military assault vehicle behind enemy lines.

Yep when I first watched this movie on VHS in the late 80’s, I was very much a young punk myself and identified with Bill Murray's character. Now 35 years later, having lived a life, I'm 100% onboard with Hulka.

When Sgt. Hulka told Winger after punching him, "I'm willing to forget about this little incident, but I want you to think real hard about it." That's what my dad (retired Army E7 after 21 years) would say when I messed up and he bawled me out. Then he would tell me, "You go to your room, young lady, and think about what I said." Almost exactly alike.

i got a few questions. 1. if these victims are tricked then kidnapped into these jobs, why didnt their family contact the authorities to search for them? 2. if these victims are brutally forced into work and beaten when they dont, how did they have the mood to joke with the scam victims long term to lure people into their traps? 3. how did these scam factories even think of doing this long term as they have huge invesments in offices and dormitories while taking in thousands of victims when anyone of them can potentially lead a govt raid into them? 4. i didnt see any fence or cage, so why didnt anyone tried to escape? 5. imagine if you are forced to work there with minimum food, no freedom, no money, beaten once a while, and likely long term or forever in this prison, how did they have to mood to follow through the scam befriending the scam victims, gaining their trust, introducing the crytocurrency scheme, detailing the investment steps, monitoring the website financial fraud....all while they are in miserable mood? 6. with such a big scale factory, it would require huge kitchen facilities, laundry facilities, dormitories, toilet facilities, all these wont attract any curiosity from the public or neighbourhhood at all?
