It gives us great pleasure to announce that The Rat, one of the four most notorious AI Lords in the Stronghold universe, will be returning to wreak havoc in Stronghold Crusader 2.
There is always a certain element of nostalgia at play when making a sequel to such an old and beloved game, but that's not our reason for bringing him back. The return of these classic characters is among our most frequently requested features for the game, making the addition of The Rat to the Crusader 2 roster a direct response to the community. you laugh but you haven't gone up against 3 of the rat and they were allies. wave after wave of archers and spearmen never giving you time to really build up things.

I remember in crusader 1, he built a castle with a staircase on the outside, so you could just walk up his walls. Funny character though, glad he will be back

He's also tougher. I know he's supposed to be an easy character to kill but I always have trouble. Too many archers

ImReadyD151 he also built a castle with his keep outside his walls for me one time, I rushed in with 12 swordsmen and he died. He replied with that "please please, don't hurt me pleeaassee" and I just thought in my head "shouldn't have been so dumb"

Exactly. Old design of their cutscenes and voice lines were much better. They were gritty and mature. SHC2 version characters look and sound goofy.

Ah, the old punching bag. :) Ironically, had he done HIS original plan (wait for reinforcements), he would of killed us all way back in the original Stronghold. Nope. The Wolf wants him to attack, and thus giving you a chance to win. Ah well... live and learn. Or in the Rat's case, die and learn

So nostalgic for this, this game was such a big deal for me as a kid (ignore the fact i was technically to young lol) the map creator was so fun for me back then and this game cemented an interest in military history which is still have fervently to this day, can't wait to see this game on sale!

Is there going to be team killing from AI or other players in this game? such as an ally's mongol or catapult hitting your own units and thus killing them or is there going to be some sort of balance of friendly fire of any sort? I always found it odd how friendly AI catapults on towers never hurt my troops in sc1 but about everything else of theirs did and so on.

Rapierre Edwin actually uses catapults, and if you give him enough time he’ll get swordsmen.

Im really suprised firefly. At the first gamplay trailers it kinda had looks like the person and units are kinda sliding above the ground, but it looks now way better. I just saw an gamplay from this e3 demo where you can play vs the caliph and i have to say im gaining hope again that you will revive the stronghold series again . The only thing was in the gameplay it had looked like you got little performance problems when the catapults are attacking a wall, but i think you will get that ok until it comes out. So for me im rly excited cause i loved the stronghold franchised since my childhood (stronghold 1 was one of my first computer games), that it will be cool and playable, i know you can do this lords and ladies from firefly ;).

1 thing what bothered me in Stronghold Crusader is, will the enemy AI build theyr castles normal now? instead of half completing it while mixing it with there orchards :/ same goes for The Sultan. he never build any farms and if he did he mixed his castle in it.

***** Looks much more awesome than Call of Miami: Battleduty 5. Besides, unlike Stronghold 3 which was rushed out the door because of a pushy and impatient publisher, Stronghold Crusader 2 is being published in-house just like Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader.

This Rat and Pig are descendants of the original as explained in Stronghold 3. And since the Snake has no descendants he isn’t in this game. The closest to his tactics is the Jackal.

I can not understand why not bring in real-life crusader war participants like Bohemond, Tancred, Godfrey of Bouillon, his brother Baldwin , Raynald of Châtillon ,Guy of Lusignan, etc, instead of Rat, Pig , Wolf bla bla bla...
