Мне этот комментарий напомнил серию из Симпсонов, где у Неда Фландерса сгорел дом и Гомер с жителями города построили ему новый, а он внутри сужался и сужался, вот умора!
Props to you for putting your cardiovascular health first. I’m sure it’s hard for a freakishly strong guy like you to watch your numbers go down but just know we don’t care you’re not as strong right now. We just love Clarence. Best wishes my brother
I wasn't even freakishly strong but got really fucking sick for 6 months and went back to benching 80kg for 8 being a struggle 😂 it's so hard to not overdo it on the weights too early and slowly get back into it. Not being able to lift heavy took a toll on my mental state for sure.
Clarence was outlifting most normal humans at the age of 14 lol, think he can take a break from being the strongest pound for pound dude on the planet.
@@Ale55andr082 its weird how people like you forget all the hard work he did and say its all juice . Let us see your results with juice or you dont do that because you so much better than him ?
Training after losing power and mass is so strange. It’s mentally harder than being a beginner. Every workout you get reminded how effortless everything was🥹🥲 When younger we where more reckless. Now we have to train smart and avoid injuries. Good to see you back Clarence🌿
Being a beginner is actually quite easy and fun if you're making big gains. Plateauing and going backwards is terrible. If I have a bad lifting session my whole week is more stressful.
I've been 230lbs with abs at 170cm. haven't seen the inside of a gym in over 2 years and in the first week and a half of getting back I literally gained almost 30lbs. Once you've been at a certain spot it's dead easy to gain it back, that is when training and diet are on point.
really appreciate this kind of chiller, vlog sort of video. Always refreshing to see advanced athletes really demonstrate the realities of the training grind
TIP FOR COOKING: when chopping veggies, put a wet towel or paper towel under your cutting board. That will prevent your cutting board from shifting around while chopping. Hope that helps, keep up the good work!
Super happy to see your content back. Never watched you for the weight you lifted or your physique; I watched because seeing the hard work you put in was inspiring. As long as you're working hard and continuing to enjoy training that's all that matters Clarence. Keep it up hermano!
This is actually one of my favorite videos because it shows the reality that most of us deal with when taking breaks and losing a lot of gains but the break actually helps in the long run and you can come back fairly quickly with muscle memory. Its good to see you again Clarence, the cooking series is a nice added touch.
Clarence, as someone who started lifting because of you but has struggled with having to take extended time off because of academics and work... seeing your approach to time off and change in body composition is reassuring. Honestly, thank you for sharing!
this guys been the longest and by far most positive influence in my life lol. always find it funny how regular people in the gym next to him don't know how lucky they are
Thank you for sharing, Clarence. This video really found me at the right time. I've had to take a break from Oly lifts because I just didn't have time but lately I've had an itch... Seeing this just boosted my motivation 🙏
Good to see you back Clarence. I hope your training goes well. I look forward to seeing your progress. I also like that you share your meal prep. It’s inspiring. I need to eat more vegetables.
Calming and nice video, good to see you prioritizing your health, too. None of your fans would ever wanna see you in bad health, everyone’s glad to see you like this (Also, that squat was still extremely fast)
That’s the thing Clarence, being heavier just to move more weight never feels good and just also feels sluggish. Do what makes you comfortable bro, you’re still one of the best lifters to ever hit the sport. Your health is tenfold more important than throwing around 200kg
thanks for uploading this fam. just getting back into heavy lifting again after hiatus and this helped me mentally cope with the fact that i am not gonna hit those heavy weights i used to hit but that's completely okay. one workout sesh at a time to get back to where i was.
Honestly really helpful to see a hyper-elite "more natty version." So many people's expectations have been totally blown out of wack by IG gym pics etc. And you're still strong as fuck relative to almost anyone.
Awesome video mate! It is really important for people to realise that strength and size etc is not everything. I have greatly admired your videos and your lifting prowess for many years now, I would rank this as one of the best you have put out. I treat my strength training as a way to help me enjoy life and not an end in itself. I am with you on the cardio, I absolutely loath stationary bikes and treadmills. Far better to get out into the world and enjoy yourself. Great stuff!
glad to see you getting in the zone again man! really motivates me to work harder towards my own lifting goals. thor bjornsson also made a recent comeback to strength sports in the form of powerlifting, so seeing both of yalls legends progress will be amazing.
I have been through a lot of mental and physical stress recently and haven't been eating enough to train hard, nor have I been able to train properly. Lost 10kg in about 4 months. Seeing that you lost over 20kg and are getting back at it is awesome.
Ughh.. Clarence is a legend, this is truly god tier motivation NOT to hop on gear. The decline you can experience when forced to get off due to health, is just mind boggling.
Looking happier and healthier Clarence, also looks like you've come off the special sauce and are done with your days of setting all time PR's. Very happy for you that you are focusing more on your health
thanks for your videos, your opinions, your gimnastics tricks, the 225 C&J and 306 in squat. youre my hero. with you i started to learnt weighlifting and always i'll try remember your best lifts always if i can.
I had a major leg injury last may. I was working on my front squats at the time I injured, and miss the progress that I was making last spring. Your technique was the gold standard I modeled mine after. I was cleared by my doctor this week, so the road to surpass my previous best starts now. Edit: The injury was not a result of squats 🤐
Don't even sweat it man, with the kind of muscle memory you have, that shit is gonna come back so quick it'll be like you never even left. Happy to see you back
@@ergonaut940 Exactly, even though he probably has well developed androgen receptors and knows his way around the barbell, it takes a lot of trenbolone and oxymetholone to squat near 300 kg
Then you obviously dont workout if you think muscle memory is something reserved for supplemented athletes! Been reaping this benefit my whole life after some longer periods off training!
even natty Clarence still squats 140kg faster than most normies can squat an empty bar - being at a lighter bodyweight every now and then and taking care of your cardiovascular system will definitely prolong your life dramatically. I think it's dope that you showcase this and I am excited for more!
The triple 160kg looked good as well. I know he said it was a struggle but... it looked pretty good to me. Especially with that depth. I used to squat 160kg as a 1RM and I can assure you I never got anywhere near that low to the ground. I was mostly just trying not to shit myself inside out squatting that weight, meanwhile he just bounces back up like he has springs sticking out his arse.
@@Pantelifts10 not “exceptional” but 160x3 at 87 kg bodyweight for a relativley easy set is still impressive. I rarely see anyone in my gym even the guys on gear benching 3 pl8s with a squat that strong. A oly style squat nonetheless. Cant really be compared to a powerlifting squat. If clarence was a powerlifter hed be squatting 200 kg with the same effort. So yeah, nothing exceptional despite the fact that most people who lift will never squat 160 kg with such ease. Its like saying a 3 plate bench is “nothing exceptional even for a natty.” Yeah youre not ronnie frickin coleman, but some people will never bench 3 plates unless they hop on gear and thats the fact of the matter
Glad you're healthier man. I always enjoyed watching your technique and speed with your lifts. The amount of weight on the bar i didn't really care too much. You still have elite level strength for your size.
What you said about being able to walk a flight of stairs without being out of breathe is the same reason i stopped training for gains and now only training weights for health. I really enjoy long distance hiking, cycling and swimming and completely changed how and why i trained. I started lifting because i didn't have much else and never liked going out. You quickly get addicted to it and it becomes your whole personality. My world was very small in front of a screen only. When i look around i see many pepole starting for the similar reasons. Curious to see if they naturally advance more to the outdoor world. Do you think hiking a trail or bikepacking is something you might get into?
This is awesome. I started WL because of seeing your videos when I first went to the gym. I will be interested in whatever content you have, you are the elder god of YT lifting man.
@@stank7162 i highly recommend getting a coach if you are able to. Weightlifting is a very hard sport to learn so even group coaching or lessons at a commercial gym will make learning the basics so much easier.
@@stank7162 Getting a coach as someone else replied, (not online if preferable) is a quick way to learn the sport but I learnt it myself by youtube tutorials (have been practicing for 6 months). I think the first step towards learning it will be to start working on your squat depth (buy some elevated heel weightlifting shoes), ATG paused backsquats should be your first goal, then work on your front rack mobility and do ATG front squats with a good front rack position. Also I'd recommend you look up Clarence's Clean and jerk and snatch tutorial on youtube, perfect the drills he tells in those vids, and zack telander's vids will also help.
i liked you as soon as i saw the pre workout then i went to check out your older vids and had no option but to sub... you don't need me to tell you but you're a beast, look forward to seeing your progress from here.
I used to really love your videos, I even paid to be in your Patreon and not miss any of your videos, but one year ago I injured my back doing clean and jerks. I got a lumbar rectification. And after one year of not getting almost any better, I miss training so bad. I hope to one day get better and get back at training, I still have the goal to have your technique and lift like you do!
@@MitaPowerlifting Bro what I didn't mean to. Hahaha. It was my fault for not looking for a person that could teach me how to do it properly, and (apparently) for some genetic things, but it was obviously not Clarence's fault.
I hope you haven't stopped training completely even if you innjr your back there's so much you can still do to work round it mm you just won't be throwing weights up is all XD
For anyone wondering, yes he posts clips which are like years old just to keep interest. But if you subscribe to his patreon which is a dollar a month (its 12 bucks a year so why not) you can see him progressively drop body weight and lift less. Since some people here seem shocked and think its a sudden loss in strength.
@@dunmadun351 things happened in life. He got married, moved twice in the last few years, and doesn't like being very heavy. But go ahead and support his patreon since its just a dollar and he posts way more regularly there
I just came back from a one year break from lifting due to a surgery and now i see that one of my favorite lifters had also backed off a bit. I'm excited to see what you do from here on out.
I did a similar thing, I went from 250 lbs fat powerlifter-type physique to 184 lbs over a few years & everyone I bumped into got really concerned for my health! 🤣
@@Eringobragh2024 it's of course a rhetorical question, I just find it funny that vegans propped up this guy as an example of a strong and healthy vegan lifter. More likely than not his doctor told him that his blood values were off the charts from years of PED use, so he had to stop abruptly, and he regressed to the natural state of a vegan lifter; weak and small after 10+ years of lifting.
Same mate, i was 96-100 now im about 86 kilo which is the lightest ive been in years. I can barely bench 2 plates , squat 3 and pull 4. Actually first day I got back after about the six months off where I did nothing beside walking and stretching, i was struggling with squatting and benching one plate. Weirdly enough it excited me so much
I suppose the one upside to it is you get to progress again. That's always the most fun part of training anyway imo. Once you plateau it's just a grind, the only thing that keeps you going then is discipline and the desire to not go backwards. When you're putting another plate on the bar every few weeks, it actually feels fun.
@@bobbyb4024 this always happens when they believe they’ve seen the light and understand the universe after taking drugs ect , spiritual journey bull ect let go of everything that matters
Fast forward 3 months and Clarence will go back to his numbers. Muscle memory especially for athletes like Clarence will hit super hard. One week squatting 160 next month 210. Keep in mind that Clarence is still young (29,30) so technically speaking he can reach his peak multiple times and chilling out in between. Also if he can increase his strength and stay relatively light like he is now even though he might not CJ insane weights he will be longer in the sport with still insane numbers. A 175 snatch and 210,215 CJ at this bodyweight that he is now will be insane to see.
Yes. I also traded in the weights for cardio as I was also unhappy at 100kg. The only problem being I wasn’t Clarence 100kg. I was KFC every night 100kg 😩 Down to 79kg though 🙂
